People - can you please cut out all these insults, counter insults and other digressions and get on with reviews of ARR's albums?
There are people here who are genuinely instrested in the subject and hate to see a degeneration of this beautiful forum.

Hi guys,
Just listened to ESK last week. I have been waiting for over a week to listen for a number of times before commenting on the album.
Here is my review of ESK
1) Jumbalakka - The starting piece "Jumballaka" is very infectious, ARR has very good way developing the tempo - which was evident to me even in Minsaara Kanavu - "manamdurai" song. He is certainly inspired by an african song, but his knowledge and control over sounds is very good. What sounded extremely noisy to me in the first listening, turned out be really good in later listenings. Much better song compared to Columbus or for that matter Thaiya Thaiya - he brings an entirely different feel to the songs by changing the sounds
2) Niagara - I felt the background humming very irritating. There are some resemblances to some old songs once in a while, in pieces. I did not get any wholesome feeling in this song. I felt good only in starting piece alone. This showed clear inadequacy in his composing/gettin new tunes.
3) Thirakkatha Kaatukkule - Brilliant song with lots of irritants - UK is main irritant. And as far as composing - come on give me something new - same old sequence of notes as in "En veetu thottathil's prelude". Once again the lack of imagination as far as composing a new tune shows up.- This was another irritant. Also the "kaathal kaathal kaathal kaathal" piece is impossibly ugly - and here to me this guy UK sounds terrible to say the least. How much you know I would have loved this song with someone else !!??
But otherwise the instruments, the sounds - I cant stress this enough are so different he succeeds in impressing you as if this is different song. This is probably why it takes a few listenings to like his songs (ie. his tunes strike you as ordinary and they are! but the things he does over the tune
are impressive in their own right)
4) En swasa kaatre - An OK song. When is he going to break out of this routine of doing such so called melodious songs, I wonder.
All his melodious songs have this solo voice singing and background music has single bell or some chime sounding once in a while - So utterly predictable!
5). Chinna Chinna mazhai - Best song of the album - And I liked it from start to the end. There was great sacle shifts in the middle of the song which were great. One wholesome piece from him.
6) Theendai - Who wanted that terrible moaning to start with. - I did not find anything different to gaga over with. Certainly, change of words over "entharo" is no good. In fact, Manam virumbuthe had more changes to original song though lot f its musical sections were lifted. (I have been spoilt with meetatha oru veenai- sorry). But SPB was magnificent - but in the end his typical on stage like improvisation (??) was not good.
Overall I would buy for 1) 3) and 5) only.

Dear friends,
ESK was shown in of the movie theatres here at New york, probably song no. 3 as mentioned by mukund is easily No.1 and best , even picturisation wise, otherwise rest of the songs are the same old UTTERLY PREDICTABLE tunes. Movie is below average IMHO, BGM by ARR as usual or should I say as expected , is very disappointing.

Dear friends,
I saw ESK here in New York last saturday , a below average movie (IMHO) almost based on ULLASAM kind of story with the opening sequence miserably copied from Mission Impossible, a shame .
As said by Mukund Song no. 3 is easily the best even picturisation wise, rest of the songs are so predictable in the tunes resembling manu of ARR's previous songs. BGM is as usual or should I say as expected is totally disappointing (Ivar BGM le therra maadiri teriyale).
Heroine Isha's performance is very good - a consolation, but this should not be a reason to watch this movie and make this a success (my openion)

Guess I am feeling younger these days! :-). It is now tough for me to get the "kid's rhyme" feeling out, thanks to you! Well, let's say a very well composed "krhyme", OK :-)
BTW, just noticed this: The pattern for the first few lines in Jumballaka and Chinna Mani thuligal - santham is the same !!
