i think "copying" is there for a long time in tamil film history. Here we discuss the tamil songs copied from others.

Eden...I forget to add..you sound like the people I used to argue against and defend IR's music when they used to state the same reasons that you state against ARR's music.

has anybody listened to the interlude-bgm in the song "kalluri salai"from Kaadhal desam by ARR. It is a cut & paste of "Baby elephant walk" from 'HaTTARi'

old film albums...nobody spends time analysing and comparing - I am sure you will find a lot of similarities too.
No way, cosmician, it had been dissected here in DF...in fact there was an exclusive thread on IR copy aditha pAdalkaL, grossing mega bytes of data still pointing out only single digit of songs. I often find here people tearing Deva apart while his sophisticated cousin is left scot free (he is great in sufi, someone says - I would rather say he is so clever in suttufy) & in every other thread he is compared with the great talents like KVM, MSV & IR. Someone even gave a twisted logic of what a genius is, linking it to popularity alone. That's why the reference to IR.

listen any Deva or sirpy songs& have a long think abt the tunes, you will realise that the tunes r from old IR,MSV,KVM,RDB,SDB,RamLaxman, ARR, English pop songs.
These two mds r the master mds in cutting & pasting business!!!, disgraceful, but these songs become super dooper hit once SPB sings with his magical voice!!!

sunder
have you heard the song apane apane pillaiyar appane, check the saranam part , (parvathi lines...)(Sandam) is also very close to the baby elephant walk. In TFM most musicians are clever in adapting from various scores.,
why color one person to be clever!. It is a parnoia among many here to just call all arr songs are nothing but copy!..I simply pity them.
The best joke they are trying very hard from 1990, they hear all his tracks, take pains to find a so called similarity, which is musically no where near till date.
This is Nothing but a pulambal!....and keep repeating the pazaya pallavi.
And in this process they compare him with IR and MSV and this is like degagrade msv and IR.
If they claim this is not a paranoia, then they should have screamed their throat at Deva who is the #1 rather than ARR. The truth is Deva has filled the void after IR, Believe it, ARR just cleared the way of others and he is moving ahead with some other goal in his mind.
This is not a suppotive talk to ARR!....or ANTI IR talk. Tamil Film music has to live!., as of today arr and few others are only hope.

eden: to be unbiased (or unbiassed?) i just want to quote another famous tfmdf-er: "so far arr has not done one song which is a hundred percent copy, unlike some very famous composer" :-))))). take it all in stride. arr copies doesn't copy, what is it to you or to me? (we don't spend money on his albums anyways, right? :-)) )

Q: The someone is now asking eden to name a genius who has not shown results?
hmm.. who is that unpopular unknown genius that eden seems to know very well ( oxymoronic arent we!)
I will agree that the "someones" logic is "twisted" if u can answer the above Q ?

I hope the logic and ethics of starting such a thread is something all IR fans will be forever proud of!

ARR should not rule our hearts...Wake up every1 ...ARR has tried changing the phase of Filmi music..We dont want that...Hes a total killer.....He is SMART but IR is GENIUS!!!!
Most of ARR's famous songs are no original but inspirations...He doesnt create melodies but blends(or call it fusion) others' ..looping is the key thing..and of course the TECHNOLOGY he has no1 else does.

Wont some tamil magazine write about our tamil composers inspirations they way they've in Mid Day? They actually took my name and responded to Nadeem Shravan's copying pretty harshly! Well done Mid Day. Just wish some tamil mag comes up with a equally frank write-up.
Sometime back Kumudam published a letter from some irate ARR hater and most of the allegations were already discussed/ fought over etc here in this forum. I guess its time for a frank article on the over all copying scene in TFM!

Karthik,
I do write for kumudam (and some other tamil magazines) frequently,
But whenever I write something criticising the big-heads in TFM (or TF), they just like that CUT that portion - I have faced this when I wrote about MaNi Rathnam, About ARR and even about Deva.
Two years back, Arivumathi wrote a wrong letter to Kumudam listing all the things that Vairamuthu copied from various sources into his cinelyrics., They refused to publish it ! and later ARivumathi published it as a small booklet (16 pages) with xerox copies of all sources etc., The title of the book was 'Kavip perarasuvin Panirai kavarthal'., If a popular poet like ARivumathi is not able to express his views about these PirapalangaL - Imagine what effect we will have.
Basically big magazines don't want to get the virotham of popular guys and thats it.,

NagaS you could not be more correct! I met arivumathi he seems to be an intelligent man! He is a pretty good voice.
He narrated the incident abt him writing to kumudham saying that VM was getting inspired by him(euphamism here). He even showed his booklet to us. we were all amazed.
and if i open up the story about Tamil university students writing letters to kumudham that VM took poems that they wrote as students and used it..... then it wud be like opening a can of worms!
I occasionally write for "The Hindu" and I know of editors who would publish such things easily. It is a big rsik for them if they put in a unresearched document and get sued. Investigative journalism is sometimes a 2 edged knife.
