Gautham Menon has started work on his new film Chennayil Oru Mazhai Kalam after the stupendous success of Kaakha Kaakha. This romantic film with Surya in the lead has started rolling in Visakhapatanam. The film will be produced by Telugu producer Sreenivasa Raju. Gautham had spend a month at the Taj Residency in Kochi recently watching the rains and sipping coffee at the upmarket and fashionable hang-out place, “Coffee Beanz” opposite the Taj. He wrote the script there.

According to Gautham: “Chennayil Oru Mazha Kalam is a simple, slice-of-life romantic story”. The music is by Harris Jayaraj. Abhirami who was considered as heroine is now dropped, as she is taller than the hero. Now Trisha and the Telugu actress Asin are is being considered by Gautham.

Meanwhile Gautham is also directing the Telugu version of Kaakha Kaakha with Venkatesh but opted out of its Hindi version with Fardeen Khan.

‘Kaaka Kaaka’ director Goutham’s next film is going to be ‘Chennaiyil Oru Mazaikaalam’.

Everybody has fallen in love with the title already.

“This is a delicate love story. There is some action too. The screenplay was written during the monsoon. Like ‘Kaaka Kaaka’, this film too is going to create a new horizon for Surya, music director Harris Jayaraj and myself,” says director Goutham.

Surya and Trisha are going to be the lovers soaked in the rain. The film is expected to be released in the month of May or June this year.

A dream role for Asin!

The year has begun with a bang for Asin, the Kochi girl who has made rapid strides in Telugu films.
Asin made her debut in a Malayalam film but failed to get noticed there. Later she was spotted by Puri Jagannath who cast her opposite Ravi Teja in Amma Naana O Tamila Ammayi, in which she played a Tamil girl. The film went on to be one of the hits in 2003.

Asin is just back from New Zealand after the song picturisation with Balakrishna for Lakshmi Narasimha. She has been signed by hot-shot director Gautham Menon to do the Telugu remake of the Tamil super hit Kaakha Kaakha opposite Venkatesh. This meaty role that Jyothika did in the original was appreciated by everyone.

And now Asin is the chosen one to be the heroine of rising star Surya in Gautham’s Tamil film Chennayil Oru Mazha Kalam. Apparently Asin is lucky to bag the right kind of roles at the right time.
