  oosai..i enjoyed reading that review, where most of the reviews, now-a-days, carry just mere wrong/useless infos and sounds 'kuppai'. From that point of view, this is a much better one ;-)

  I think many good songs composed by raja over the
  past few yrs have not got its due recognition
  because of the film's utter failure.eg.Manam
  virumbuthe unnai, poonthottam,etc etc.i hope kasi
  doesn't join that list.And i take pains in saying
  all this.really hurting when a good job doesn't get recognition and mediocre jobs get undue

  oosai, even my friends who have been to the movie say KAASI songs (especially en mana vaanil and maanutholu onnu recieved CLAPS and WHISTLES in the theatre...and in the last three-five days, AIR & Sri lankan Tamil broadcasts have started broadcasting KAASI songs repeatedly often, so response wud grow even faster in the next few weeks. Have to watch the movie this week!!!!) Thanks all for the great news...

  No it is not your fault. Infact BGM is a part of the narative and if you did not notice it but still feel that some thing other than the dialogs and scenes had an effect on you then the BGM is worth a million dollars. IR has several times swallowed a scene with his BGM...brilliant though...but stood out as a separate entity. In sethu, it was just different..as far as I noticed. In fact the BGM and all I only talked days after I saw the film and got stuck to it. BGM should be powerful , but abstract. AIMHO.

  I wanted to see 'KaatTRukkenna veli', But couldn't as my stay in chennai was very limited and the movie was screened only in kaalaik kaatchi in two thetres,

  For me there are two - Varaathu vantha nayakan (Thaalaattup Paadavaa) and Oru Maalaich chandiran manathaik kiLLuthu (Unnai vaazhththip paadukiRaen), Surprisingly Partheeban is not the Director for both these movies :-)

  ArAro pAttuppAda nAnum thAyillai- I think this is from a Parthiban movie. Other than those listed by NagaS & this, I don't think there are many great numbers in Parthiban movies:-(

  all the songs in Thallatup Paadavaa were good.... "Needhanaa Needhanaa anbaee needhanaaa".... "Venilavukku Vaanathaai Pidikalaiaaa"..... there was one song in Ulaae Veliyeee - does anyone remember it ? i have not heard songs in Pondaati Theavaai (was that by IR?).....

  I am really looking forward to Sudha Raghunathan's debut song with IR. Especially notable is the ensemble violin performers he has roped in for the song: Lalgudi's children Krishnan and Viji, V. V. Ravi and EmbAr KaNnan... The lyrics too seem to be in the classical mode: 'Enai Enna SeithAi vEnguzhalE, unakkum enakkum pagay illayE'.
  
  Wow! What a debut for Sudha in films?
  
  Raga Simhendra Madhyamam seems to be one of IR's favorites... he has used it in 'How To Name It?' and in quite a few film songs, all of which have been great hits. To name a few:

  Nee pourNami - Oruvar vAzhum Alayam (Yesudas)
  KAtrOdu kuzhalin nAdame - KOdai mazhai (Chitra)

  I am also thrilled when I read the pallavi of the song - Typical Vaali Style, I am expecting another 'Kamalam Paadha Kamalam' standard of lyrics with traditional touch ... Looking at the pallavi situation seems to be almost the same as 'Evanoo oruvan vaasikkiRaan' from Alaipaayuthaey, Isn't it ?
  
  The article also says Sudha is going to sing a duet with a hindustani singer ... who is it ? HariHaran ? ;-)
