  Hi Shanmugam Murugappan,
  
  hope this is not late news.. today's 'The Hindu' carries a writeup on 'Housefull' and according to R.Parthiban, when he screened the rush copy of the movie to IR, IR's comment was that the movie would be a 'Trend Setter'.
  
  There's a hoarding for the movie, opp. to the erstwhile Saphire theatre complex at mount rd, Madras, with the name 'housefull' written on a typical silver screen in a theatre.. The phrase "Musically Yours.. IlaiyaRaja" glitters aside..

  '.... IR's music is a big + point of the movie. his songs and BGM prevent the film from getting dull. songs sung by IR and sujatha are great. the other songs too are not bad at all. to summarize, this film music has strengthened IR's music kingdom.....'

  IR's doing good job regarding the BGM, no doubt. But you cannot discard ARR's contribution to the success of the movies he's doing. Infact, he has turned many of the averagely rated movies to good hits.

  Guys,
  After some pleasant surprises in Poonthoattam, I ventured to buy a new IR tape. I thought the Pratap Poththan/IR combo would be good since they did well in "Vetri Vizha".
  
  "Uravugal", the new release by the Pratap Poththan/IR combo was a huge disappointment in every musical aspect. Except for the one malayalam/thamizh tune sung by SPB and a newcomer, the rest were shockingly bad. There were three or four new singers in this release, none of them merit any good remarks. Diehard fans might view this as a slander, but I'm just trying to save you guys your money.
  
  I'm not one to think that IR has lost it. I just think his heart isn't in it. Maybe only malayalam movies kindle his creative juices these days, I don't know what else to make of this throwaway effort.
  
  If not the giant of the 70s and 80s, I would at least be satisfied with the IR of Kizhakku Vaasal and Chinnagounder. Hmm, I sense a definite void in his TFM.

  YM was good. I don't know if you didn't like the

  For the producers of 'GURU'., if u have any idea of dubbing the movis in tamil., ! please drop it ! I CAN'T listen to comments like 'IR's music in latest tamil movie GURU is TRASH. it is well below DEVA's latest album XXXXXXX ' & others

  I dont know if uravugaL is a remake of yAtrAmoZhi
  but, I have yAtrAmozhi (malayalam) CD and it is
  a splendid album. Especially songs like 'pon veyilil', 'yAtramozhi', 'erimalai kAtru' (sung both IR & MSV) are very intriguingly haunting.

  Buy "uravugal" listen to it and tell me what you think. I don't know what's a remake of what, I don't keep track of these details. If you want to diss my taste, be man or woman enough to post your real name then we can have a serious discussion.

  Finally got hold of kAdhal kavidhai.
  
  Listening to first 3-4 Numbers, I was really surprised by each song's structure and composition. Very different from the usual IR
  style. Bouncy beats and lots of Guitar,synth and
  more of ARR type of composition. IR's stamp is
  seen in songs like 'AlAna naaL mudalA' (pushpavanam Kandaswamy and new comer sowmya excel in this folk song), 'E konji pEsu kObam konda kannamma' (Humming very nicely blended with lots of violins and Ofcourse the recent winning IR-sujAtha combo) , and 'alai meedu'(Bhavs) has a
  beautiful carnatic raga based tune.
  
  Now coming to first three songs, Hariharan has sung them. He hasnt done a bad job and his pronounciation seems to have improved. kAdhal meedhu , manasa thottu and diana.. diana are these
  three. Diana Diana is going to be a sure hit. The song thaththOm (ilA aruN & Swarnalatha) has an awful pallavi but the charanams are good. After a long time IR has given us a song with lots of munagals. I miss SJ so much:-)
  
  Overall this album is quite diff from MVU,DG and the recent others but refreshingly different. Ofcouse IR and Bhava have chosen to sing the best songs in this album:-)
  
  The quality of Recording seems to be OK in the CD

  Guys here is a pleasant surprising news , I got from India, Kamal's next project with director Priyadarshan ,before 'Marudanagam' and MD is our great IR. Can anyone confirm about this? It will be a great combo, it reminds me IR's score for Priyadarshan in 'SiraiChalai'

  guys,
  i requet u all to be more critical in u'r reviews and post what do u think are the negative aspects of the album. i have always had hyped up reviews of IR's recent films only to find the albums pretty much mediocre.
  
  udhya, u might want to check a couple of songs to see if it is a yaathramozhi album. i only hope that they have not dubbed it in tamil, since i like the album as it is(even though i dont understand a word of mallu!!!) and don't want the album to get spoilt by dubbing it in tamil!
  
  there are 2 songs by MG.Srikumar, chithra and 1 song each by IR and MSV. the title song yaathramozhi is by jeyachandran. if all these are there then it is definitely yaathramozhi,
  
  IMO, excluding guru, yaathramozhi is THE BEST from IR in recent times (last 2-3 years). no other tamil album even comes near this in terms of melody.
  
  
  'housefull' seems to be really exciting.let's wait and see.

  From what you asked me to check, Uravugal can't be YM in thamizh. Here's the breakdown of Uravugal:
  1)Kai Veesuthae--Siva, Nirmala
  2)Thai Maatham--Siva, Nirmala
  3)Erithazhal Kathil--Prakash
  4)Mann Vaasa Kaatru--Maghi
  5)Kaakaala Kannamma--SPB, Sasikumar
  6)Yamma Yamma--Lapson Rajkumar, Nirmala
  
  I would love to get my hands on Guru, Yathra Mozhi, and Kaliyoonjal since a lot of you mention it all the time. I can't seem to find it anywhere in California. Maybe I'll check out Kaadhal Kavidhai.

  Udhaya, From the list of songs it looks like
  UravugaL is a remake of YM. Probably the re-dubbing has messed it up. This is not the first time such a thing is happening. Recent eg is nammooru mandAra hoove (kannada) dubbed into
  something in tamil was horrible in tamil.
  
  Yes, it is difficult to get hold of these 3 Mallu albums here. If you are interested, send me an email, I can copy them into a cassette for you.
  
  Vijay, I think the reviews here have been reasonably fair, ofcourse it is a very subjective thing.

  I find that a fan like you must not miss the three albums. Are you trying to say that you are not able to get the CDs ? Don't you have the cassettes if not original atleast the recorded versions ? If you can compromise on the recorded versions I may be of some help to you. You can send me an e-mail and I can send you a copy of the same of course for your personal use.
  
  Regarding the new singers you have mentioned: In YM all are sung by the greats (SPB,chitra,M.G.Srikumar) and the songs "ARE" very good. From what you say on "Uravugal" I feel that it is the same as YM, probably spoilt by new singers.
