Ravi - You're right. There is something special in that song - something that cannot be described! BTW, Kasumeleh is my bet for best dappangkuththu of 1998. :-)

Please dont put the blames on IR for KR's business tactics.. If KR sticks with IRs philosophy of pure music he will be easily orangattified by the producers.. Why should not he also take the more easier path to fame led by the 8th wonder of the world, ARR, right there in Kodamabakkam..The right thing to do now is to have inspirations at day/night.. Ithila kooda oruthar, athan namma DEva romba pavama oru interviewla solraar: If the producer shows me a cassette and asks me to record a song similar to a particular song I dont hav any other go but to obey him..Ayya creativitynnu etho solranga pola..athukku avar - Kavalaipadathe sahodara.. IMO KR is following the correct business tactics - composing songs for Hindi makkal,NRIs,all others except Tamil makkal to have huge cassette sales & publicity.. As in some of the opinions in other threads ARR gives what the new generation wants - rock, pop, jazz, heavy metal, light metal, gumetal etc (I dont know what all things R there) and is taking TFM towards the 21st century..We should appreciate these things U know.. Kazhuthu vara thanni vanthuruchu, ini saan pona enna muzham pona enna..KR nee enjoy pannu macchi.. I have a request for KR.. Introduce Michael Jackson to TFM before ARR catches hold of him..

1. The song "Saravana Bhava muga vadivazhagaa.." starts well , but the stances
simply fail to go with the pallavi . Its like hearing
to seperate songs . May be he is trying too hard
to blend two ragas ( Any raga buffs please clarify).
2. Anaconda.. the tune seems to be catchy . The BEAT is very similiar to the song
"Chaaku Chaaku Othikitche.." from AaSURAN
scored by Adityan. May be they both had lift from a single song. ( Again can naybody throw
some more light)
3. "Kasumeleh..." fine song , very good to hear
Very well composed.
I agree ARR is catching KR too.

kAthalA kAthalA project patri Karthik Raja sollirukkum karuththukal:
"This is not the first film I have worked with Kamal sir
,’’ says the young music director of Cedilla Kadala. He
looks more like a college boy playing the role of a music
director than being one in reality - quiet, modest and
most unassuming Kartik was particularly busy at the
AVM studio one morning. But despite his busy schedule
he took little time of to talk about his experiences with
this comic laden film.
"I have made Kamal sir sing few songs for other films as
well. He does not treat me like a music director. I am
more like his family member and I feel the same way
about him too. Considering the fact that I have just
started my career and he is India’s most famous actor,
he has been very encouraging and has been a source of
tremendous support and inspiration to me. And in this
movie, he has given me a free hand- do just what you
want he told me. No pressure, no demands – anything
that made me feel under any kind of pressure."
How did the film come to him? "Kamal sir had a lot of
pressure on the other side. He wanted the music to be
done fast – it had to be different, and of good quality. He
called me up and asked if I could work on this project. I
agreed and we got started. He gave me absolute freedom
and as a result of that a folk song ( Prabhu insisted that a
folk song should be done ) was done – without much
effort but it turned out to be quite a hit. I did it just like
that and people have liked it very much. For the other
songs Kamal sir gave me an idea – just the basic idea
and I had to create a song based on that."
"I use a lot of my imagination to create a song. For
instance there is a song called Saravanabhava in Kadala
Kadala where all the characters are either Murugan or
Valli. What I have tried to do is to put something like
this- each time Murugan gets near Valli she says "no,
no". That goes on throughout the song- vena, vena. All
of them start together with vena, vena- and the song
sounds very different."
He rates Kadala Kadala as a comedy and has worked
accordingly. It is not like a musical and since comedy is
the main strain of thought in the film the music too is in
line with the theme. Grahan for instance was a serious
film and the music was done according to the mood of
the film. It was a hit and that has made him more
confident about his work.
He is one music director who has utilised Kamal’s voice
quite frequently. "The pitch is the main deciding factor
for the kind of singer chosen for a song. Whether it is a
carnatic based song or a pop number the singer is
selected depending on the pitch. But with Kamal sir he is
so eager to learn and so dedicated that if there is
anything different being planned then he will work till he
achieves perfection and make the song a worthwhile one.
To be very honest he is a better professional than many
professional singers-he is aware of the quality of the
song- above all he knows what is going to come in the
film and goes beyond the boundaries of a singer. That is
why he has that extra quality and is so many times better
than many singers—in all aspects. And for all that he is
not even trained in singing like the others. He has it in
him. What a person he is."
Kartik Raja is very much on the threshold of tremendous
success- being the son of the illustrious Illaya Raja other
than proving his mettle as his son he has to show his
caliber in the show of support extended to him by all
promising directors and producers. His youth,
notwithstanding it a fact that his best is in the offing – he
is yet to reach the crescendo- he is still on the rising
wave of the beautiful notes of his life’s song.

After verrrrrrrrry long time, with the heavy pressure from RAVI, GOPAL, and MPR, i searched and listened this album in my friend's audio system.
Wow! its amazing!
1. Saravana bhava is beautifull. Especially the interlude "veana" ... "veana" .. "veana" .. matrum "no"... "no" ... "no" is good. As from the KR's explanation from the MPR's posting this song is situation oriented; so i am waiting to see this song.
2. "laila laila... lighta thaan adippa..." is having beautifull beats. "left, right" yendra vaarthaigalukku varum beat is simply superb. music poattatharkku appuram "left, right" yendru yeluthapattathaa; allathu "left, right" yendra vaarthaikku music poadapattatha yendru theariyavillai; avvalavu oatrumai! Also first and second interlude humming is verrrrrrry goooood.
3. "madona paadala nee" is also having beautifull beats and rhythm. I really disappointed with the lyrics. Kamal told in the one interview that; now lyrics yendra peyaril yetho kasamusannu english vaarthaigalai poattu oappeatrukiraargal yendru kooriyirunthaar! Avara intha english (sorry! thangilsh) paadalai yelutha soalli paadiyum ullar! Aachariyamaga ullathu.
4. "kasu meAla ... kasu vanthu" paadal original agmark dappankuththu paadal. Kamalum, udit narayananum thullukiraargal. Udit narayananukku Tamil solli koadutha tution master yaaro! avarukku oru kudos! Ore oru idathai thavira matra yidangalil udit kamaludan poatti poattullar! Antha ore oru vaarthayai mattum sari pannamal vittadhu yeano! athai keatkum poaluthu yerichal thaan varugirathu!
5. "thagida thaththom... " intha paadalil oru puthiya paadagar arimugamaagiullar. Its really good. Intha paadal 3 paguthiyaga irukkirathu. Ithuvum oru situation song maathiri ullathu. Ovvoru nigalchiyin poaluthum intha paadal paada padukirathu endru ninaikirean. Padam paarthal thaan lyrics puriyum yendru ninaikirean.
Totally this is good album; except the lyrics.
Nalla lyrics kidaikka yinemeal TFMil VALIye yillaya!
If this music is original then
---------->HATS OFF TO KR<-------------
I am very much thankfull to RAVI, GOPAL, MPR for encouraging me to listen to this album; otherwise i may missed this album!
