bb...you got the wrong person, that was not my posting! And about your "just might" comment, all I can type in as response is something you do best ! :-))))
And personally, I believe that the last thing Raja would so is "keduthify" a song. Its really unfair to compare that giggling looney-bin with Raja!

BB,
IR has done it before. In My Dear KuttiChaathan Part II, All song picturization were from the first part. He tuned the new songs to fit the old picturization. I realized it only after I came home from the movie. It was so seamless!!!!

MDK part two was released in 1998. It had some new comedy scenes by newer comedians. Also new songs. Other than that, the film is the same. Part one must have been released in 1988 probably!!!

Srikanth,
Why dont you write a detailed review of Time. Sashi does such a nice job of reviewing ARR's albums .... but avarai indha pakkam kanom. It would be great if you write a review with a lot of technical details for Time...
TIA

Since you asked, I will go for it.
1.Thavikeran :
HH does a good job, and Bhava also blends well, the score basically sounds or placed like thalata varuvayo. the chords are placed well,
Draw backs: using synth like sound for counter point scores, why? raja should have used real violins -- any budget cut!...7/10
2. Kadal neethana : Great songs, I realy like the tune, though resembles thendral than tingal than.... nice drum programming, bass parts.
Unni sings it well, sujtha is also great.
The way she says the world "choolli" in the saranam is realy cute...There is brass interlude coming in between saranams, a synth like brass though the score is good --- it sounds odd, why?
he should have used real trumpets etc.
Finally the tune s very crisp and sure it is a first time impresser. 9/10
Draw backs; ignorable.
3. Muthu nilve ..only good part is bhava (does not sound like voice) piece which is well thought tune, the dishti in the song is KR's voice and the way tries to sing it, very poor. ..
Drawbacks ; poor tune, poor voice, poor harmony on the chorus. overall a total failure. 1.5/10
4. Nenachai padi : ok , should be a family song, sounds like a group song from solathudikuthu manasu.
somewhat s.a.rajkumarish,
Thevan ; a new singer I think , subha -- tries to sing like thaiya thaiya, she should change - 5/10.
5. NAN Thanga roja ; a super song, good rajaish tune, good drum parts, spbs blends well, words are also new (we have had too much of diamond's thoughts), interludes are pretty, makes you listen again, proves raja is still around.
6. Neram pirthu; best song from raja in 5 years.
great score, i love playing it on the keyb each and every part, I enjoying it every time I play it. I put this some time ago, the songs moves like a feature that falls from a height, we do not know which direction it will move next, so smooth, reminds of old msv's song from poikal kudurai, but msv's song did not so much choramatic scaling, this has many parts in chromatic scale. Oboe, cello , double bass, violos, violins, piano --- every classical instrument we know, (I heard even french horn and brass) has a part in this song, and basically set in G, moves around wonderfully,
Sujatha renders it with a great feel. 9.5/10
Overall ; Hope raja does more scores like this,
and limit himself with 2 movies a year.
Sure you can buy the CD.

Srikanth,
Nice job man. I also like TIME very much, as you have reviewed 4 songs out of 6 are very good and Nenaichapadi is also OK for dancing moods. Some how people are not talking about IR albums now a days even if he comes out with some nice one like this. We should be able to appreciate the fact that how nicely Raja has changed himself to the current trend with out compromising the quality of songs and how nicely he is trying different tunes even after 700 films behind him.
Cheers
G.Suresh

shrikAnth,
good review. btw, where exactly do you hear the oboes (and brass) in niRam piriththu?
- From: srikanth (@ vdslppp102.sttl.uswest.net)
on: Sun Nov 21 17:42:06 EST 1999
Ok, --- Oboe, comes as a counter point in the pallavi when the song goes marthen, pirithen, a flute (along with oboe) like twin notes are played --- hear it very carefully.
also comes in the saranam with when she sings kalame padi..etc
Horn and brass ; comes as counter point when the saranam ends...you can hear a blow -- when she sings mazai neer utrum....
- From: srikanth (@ vdslppp102.sttl.uswest.net)
on: Sun Nov 21 17:49:57 EST 1999
In fact I left few instruments -- Harpsichord comes and goes as counter point at various points.
also guitar, muted guitar whamps comes in IInd bgm end.
Overall the song is filled with counter point music, there is counter point in every bar.

srikAnth,
thanks. yes when sujAthA sings O.O.O.O... one can hear the oboe and flute. btw, is that a flute or a recorder when she sings lalAla lAla lAlA? horns... you can hear them in the first interlude itself. anyways, thanks for answering. yes, as you said the song is full of counterpoints; looks like ir composed this song with complete abandon! :-)

guys guys.. check out the extra Time songs which Kumar has pointed out.
Whats going on ?? IR making WCM kind of song, dappAnguththu, pop/hiphop dance beats with carnatic melody (song 7) , typical IR melody with pop beats (songs 9) all in one album . What he has just woken up or what ?? Looks like the attack on the market dominated by ARR is on !!
IR needs to get a sound engineer if not get YSR full time to assist thim. The studio needs to get a better way of recording the string section. All mic and cables need to be replaced and then we are all set for a category defying musical feast from the Maestro.

does anybody know if all the 10 songs are available in a single cd?
