Even though IR favored SPB, all that changed after he brought in Mano. And KJY's numbers for IR are equally amazing...I am talking about the figures. In some site, I saw the following numbers that these singers have sung under IR's baton in Tamil...even though these figures are approximate, they don't look like they are way beyond the truth.
SJ - 750
SPB - 650
Chitra - 450
Mano - 350
KJY - 350
From the figures, one could easily discern that after mid 80's, Mano and Chitra were the most favored singers and ofcourse, KJY. Remember SJ and SPB were his lead singers starting 1976.

Raghuji,
Iyarkai ennum ilaya kanni was probably 65. in any case his 1st tam song must be much earlier than 69

Shanthi Nilayam (Iyarkai ennum ilaya kanni ), was released in 1969, not 1965, have a look at this.

K,
I agree with your points, giving same number of songs to Dr.KJY and Mano, is a joke,

When an upcoming good lyricist can get 25k per song in Telugu Film Industry, a singer must be getting atleast 50K.
