Has Raja composed another symphony? Amazing. I suppose, now IR must be really waiting for a grand ocassion abroad to release the two! How much longer to wait IR? There are many of your fans already ageing faster than time, please do something for them before they depart!

NEWS from the "International Gossiper"
A musician from South India named Illayaraja, led a large group of musicians from the royal philharmonic orchestra, London, performing the symphony "symphonic fantasy". The interesting part was that there was just one person sitting in the large auditorium lsitening to it as it was a special program for him alone. At the end of the program, the lone listener was confronted by a rush of media persons eager to know of his opininons. The person said "I did like the music. But since i was sitting a bit away from the stage, i cannot say for sure if it was Illayaraja.i have doubts about that". Also, the lone listener added, "I also have a doubt if the musicians really played it or were just acting to the music played on a player". The entire media was dumbstruck by these observations.
p.s: Yes guys, you guessed it right! the lone listener was infact, our own maestro, SRIKANTH!!!

Guys:
I think you are castigating Srikanth unnecessarily. I too am happy that Madhan has taken the pains to find out about the Symphony rather than sit and make idle, derogatory comments like some others. But I have not commented on Madhan's letters yet because they reveal very little about the symphony other than the fact that a real, live human being (Mr. A.S.Panneerselvam) interviewed IR and that the deputy editor of Frontline himself had some confusion and half-facts about the symphony. I was listening to HTNI yesterday from Shibu's site and found myself strangely unmoved - IR has a precedence of disappointing his fans. Though I am not as pessimistic as Srikanth on the existence of the Symphony, I would like to withold my appreciation of it until I actually hear it. I too will trust only my "musical ears" than my "gossip ears" as Srikanth put it.
Come on Srikanth, we can fool a few people all the time or all the people, sometime. We cannot fool everyone, all the time ! You should have atleast shown some appreciation for Madhan's enterprising nature and accept the existence of the Symphony as fact.
Neruppu:
It might have been better if you had posted your sarcastic post in the "dhjkl..." thread without using Srikanth's name. A few have us have used that thread before to make a sarcastic point without actually bruising egos or hurting pride.

Srinath,
I echo your sentiments too. When I read Madhan's post, it was not clear about what the interviews conveyed about the performance or the 'release' of the symphony.
HCIRFs, HCARRFs, HCMSVFs, and HCRajaGFs:-) I am a fan of IR too (but not only IR). I am proud to say that I am a fan of good music and really don't care who produced it. Obviously, if one creator gives me a generous dose of good music, I build an expectation out of that creator in terms of future output. There is a reason most (all) of us went to college and are surfing the net for some 'intelligent' discussion. Let's make a concerted effort to maintain it and not deviate to personal slander, and illogical 'screams/shouts'.

Its pretty easy to pass a comment or criticize someone, with no solid basis. The most easier part is to sit back and keep the mouth shut and after sometime come up with an another stupid comment. Carry on.....

Dear Srinath,
MANNIKKAVENDUM - I am no way asking for appreciation and claps or applause - it was the sheer joy of having got SOME news about the Symphony rather than ending up getting NOTHING that propelled me share it with you all.
"Withholding appreciation for the Symphony " - well, did any of us here ever mention about our APPRECIATION for the Symphony based on its QUALITY without even hearing it ? NO, NEVER !!
The very fact that a Symphony has been composed and was recorded by the RPO, under the baton of a well known conductor, Sir.John Scott , testifies to some extent the quality of the SYmphony -
Is it not but natural for us to feel exhilarated that the fact that the Symphony was indeed composed and played and recorded , has now been authenticated by the FRONTLINE's sub-editor himself ?!!
So, what bugged me most was not Srikanth's reluctance to appreciate my effort - it was the sheer audacity of Srikanth questioning the authenticity of the the source of news that has triggered the series of castigations -
Tell me, don't you see a streak of petty cynical arrogance in his posting , which even suggests that I have cooked up the whole story out of my blind love for Raja and I am posting the "story" for both (my) self- glorification and Raja's Glory ?
And now, tell me what is wrong in me or some of our friends castigating Srikanth ??!!
Srikanth has a right to call a Raja fan , a fanatic - even this is not proper in many ways - but even if we take this for granted as an acceptable thing, what is not acceptable is Srikanth's covert, subtle way of calling me a liar !!
Now, this is not CASTIGATION , but an absolutely personal , scathing remark, and you are asking me to keep my cool !!
It has become a habit for Mr.Srikanth and his likes to make such baseless statements and when questioned or criticised , they get annoyed and leave the DF for some time and then come back - and a special group of DFers will empathize with them - then the cycle will continue with some more questionable remarks and criticisms and these guys leaving the DF for some time again - come on man, give me a break !!

Don't you agree that IR must try more introspective music than dramatic scores like symphonies?
Two symphonies are fine, but we should look for concertos for the violin, harp, trumpet, you know slower type of western classical music

Madhan: Sorry you're upset. Don't worry, we really appreciate your efforts. You have also motivated me to find out more.....
I have just contacted the RPO in London and asked regarding this Symphonic Fantasy. Here are the dissapointing facts:
Apparantly, they get numerous calls about it and unfortunately, it was NEVER RELEASED. boooohoooooo
Carlton Records have bought RPO(someone else bought RPO first and then Carlton bought it from them).
The Second Symphony was NEVER RECORDED....
Ilayaraja himself paid for this Symphony to be recorded and also has the Rights to it. It's in his hands to release it.....
So, in summary, there is 1 Symphony, No Release, Composer having the rights, Apparently completed....
IR, it's in your hands now.... Please put us out of our misery and release it.....

Madhan:
After reading what Srikant put (who took curses aimed at me in some other thread), I dont see anything so much hurting in it. He just says his opinion.
He belives only his ears, which is in a way true.
Pulivarudhu Pulivardhu....where is the puli - at least a eli can come out.
Geetha:Thanks for the info, we shall wait..
People here drag ARR for delayed album releases, what is IR doing...

Geetha,
Madhan,
Great information. Very thankful to you. Does that mean the IR composed the second but did not record with the RPO?

Ennappa idhu ingayum sandayaa?
I was the one who excerpted Madhan's mail correspondence, without his permission at that. Since the symphony has been the center of so many threads, I was anxious to share what little fact there was. I thought for once this would be a post considered only for its news at face value. By now you would think I've learned better. Maybe Madhan knew better to just e-mail a few people.
I wish the TFMpage group can write a code that would immediately transfer all anger baiting/biting posts to one thread. I would pay money out of my pocket for such a service.
Good grief. Anyways, it was good to find out more concrete info from Geetha.

Madan :
If you see read my 3 liner, nice to see some light in this issue.... (is using the word nice is unparlimentry, if so I am sorry.
I did not doubt your effort even .001%.
You took it in the wrong way, (like when we speak we throw camphor --- it might easily catch fire)
What I meant is due to "virathy", I too great pains like you once (few years ago) and went around people talking about this symphony, but nothing came out till date, IR gave some crude answers, this is lingering me around.
Just my 3 liner makes me look like a stupid guy with unwanted words by many , some of my friends here asked me keep out of this place, but even that is taken as a issues and my legs are pulled around,

Hello everybody!!
As usual, I have been observing this thread for quite sometime and these are the comments/questions I wish to make/raise.
1. Madhan--Good to see somebody trying to clear up the smoke on the symphony issue. However, as others have mentioned the communications from Frontline have not been of much help (I agree with Srinath on this regard)
2. Geetha--Thanks a lot for the info. from your side. You have given us two very important facts.
a. Raja himself paid for this symphony to be recorded.
b. Raja has the rights for the symphony.
This is precisely what I wrote in a previous thread "Why is Raja afraid to release his symphony music?" started by Srikanth sometime back. I had at that time doubted that Raja himself had requested RPO to record his symphony and not the other way round (popular prevailing opinion). I had faced some criticisms from fellow DFer's for having cast unnecessary aspersions on Raja.
I provide the http of this thread here for everyones review:
https://newtfmpage.com/forum/4955.27253.21:42:11.html
Now, I am not feeling proud that I had smelt something fishy in this whole symphony story, but infact sorry to know that Raja had to really pay to get his symphony recorded.
Finally, I agree with Srikanth and his comments. Infact in his first line he begins "its nice to know..." I think this means that he really appreciated Madhan's sleuth work. However, since Frontline was not very helpful in clearing up the symphony mystery, his frustration is very understandable too.
Please note that no-where in my posting, I have tried to belittle the symphony itself, which first has to be released to be commented upon by others. OTOH, trying to praise it and its composer(as done by HCIRF's) unnecessarily calls for criticism as well.

Hi all:
I am new to this discussion. I am yet another fan of Raja. Yet another fan eagerly awaiting for his symphony for years. Keep posting the latest news of when it will be released. I have sent mails to rediff, vikatan, kumudham, pyramid audio enquiring about this.
What about each of us sending a letter to Raja, expressing our feelings.
