s'gazhi s'chidhambaram is a very good singer with a different range of voice. i think he is the best of our contemporary singers who can pronounce tamil words exactly how it should be. I wonder why our MDs are reluctant to use him.

Sivasidambaram is as versatile as his father. I just heard his concert at Kalikambal koil function in Chennai this evening. He has a powerful voice and announces his gratitiude to all music directors who used him by mentioning their names before singing the songs.
It is lucky for Sivasidambaram that he has not stooped down to the level of other singers by singing all the present day songs. Let him do decent ones, even if it is one. Our music directors will decent enough to consider him as a medical doctor for decent songs (Until and unless if they have aversion for educated singers as some of the MDs in the field)

I am glad that he has not been "properly" utilised by our MDs.
NChari, can you imagine a scenario where SN Surendar, Deepan Chakravarthy, TL Maharajan and Malaysia Vasudevan are the main singers ?

Who said he is not properly used? Though the number may be less all the songs that he has sung have been hits, be it 'Abinayasundari' in Mridanga Chakravarthy, a silly song like 'Odakkara Marimuthu', folk song in Manuneethi "kootum romba", Western based romantic song like 'Jeeva' and the devotional based folk in Rajarajeswari, all his songs are catchy and Magical hits, despite songs of other styles with ohter singers in the same album. I think he has Almightys blessings in full. It is a miracle! He sings and it becomes popular,whether the movie is popular or not.(Is it because of his songs being popularised on stage performances even before release?}
SL - the ?main singers in your list are contemporaries, may be as professionals. But dont be too glad that he has not been "properly"used in your respose to NChari. After all these are all one group who need attention, but SC is definitely a phenomenon beyond comparison to Sirkazhi fans.

SL - There is nobody as main or side singers. If a fair chance is given to the singers in your list as well as Sirkali without any prejudice, every film will definitely have a clearly pronounced tamil song with voices individually identified and rejoiced. Sivasidambaram needs to be "properly" used SL.

I agree SL - Malaysia Vasudevan was promoted by his friend IR when he became a MD. I have seen S'Chidambaram sing for Devas devotional albums! But Deva did not promote S'Chidambaram. Despite, S'Chidambaram definitely makes his mark in films with the oppurtunities he gets. Hope he doesnt enter producing films relying on his Music Director friend , like what Malaysia Vasudevan did and lost all his money trusting his popular MD friend.

Because he can pronounce tamil clearly and sing with tuninig. He can express the song. He cannot give a Thanglish accent, and make the words sound sticky. All these are points against sc singing tamil film songs. May be he click in Hindi, telugu,?malayalam and Kannada where his diction may be sounding new. (Or, may be he tries to qualify for tfm with a diagonally opposite trial).
I think I heard his voice in Manu neethi, and in two cassettes of SriRajarajeswari Ithumudivathillai and Engalukkum Kaalam varum (HMV).

Because he is a doctor by profession.
He made be good as a light music and classical music singer. There is an entity called 'inferiority complex' which no person is exempt always, especially the music directors. Probably they are reminded of their illiteracy or their children going hayward without studies when thinking of using Siva in their films. Iam sure if he is given song it will definitely be a hit number, be it once in a year or once in five years.

So what if he is a doctor?
His singing capacity alone has to be assessed by music directors! For the singers they use today, I dont think singers with rich voices are necessary at all for all the present songs are sure to fail very soon after the next movie is released, with a few exceptions like AR Rahman.
You will definitely see a Good lyricist, Good Music directors and Good singers in Tamil movies very soon! How long can people withstand junk in the names of modern songs. In that stage Sirkali will definitely be used frequently with long lasting melodies.

Do good singers need marketing?
Kadugu siruthaalum Kaaram kuraiyathu. Puli Pasithaalum pullai thinnathu!
'Urupudiyan children' like Sivasidambaram do not need any marketing to sing. It is only the talent less kids of cine stars who need marketing to promote themselves without believing their talents.
Definitely NOT Sirkalis son!

Probably tamilians want to listen to tamil songs with an english accent. For such MDs attention: Dont forget that it was Sirkazhi Sivasidambaram who took the first ever classical based english song "Lord Muruga London Muruga" in the Live in London album with his father, internationally,. He is the first indian singer to take such a devotional song throughout the world with a world famous company EMI, even before the boasting crowds.:)

Is marketing such a bad thing?. If anyone want to come up in life they have market themselves. Marketing yourself doesnt mean boosting themselves, it means letting your talents known by others.

why Seegazhi siva chidhambaram is not properly utilized by our MDs?
The same reason Bhupen Hazarika is not used in Tamil Film songs.

Bhupen Hazrika may have a unique stye for a different language. Seergali Sivachidambaram definitely has a better voice than most of the singers of tfm or singin music directors of tfm.

He deserves better songs than the one presented currnetly by the present day MDs, which even SPB has commented as out of vogue and out of the range songs. In fact SPB has recommended a song for SirkaliSivasidambaram in the movie Manuneethi and for TLMaharajan in Krodam 2, because the range was high.

Can u imagine him singing for Ajit, Vijay or Prashanth? Or even Kamal, Rajini, etc..
He dosen't have a voice that will suit just about everybody, so why don't u guys just get on with life?

He has sung for Prashant in Jodi I think - No singers voice exactly matches the heroes you mentioned - since most of their voices are dubbed too, Do you think Unnikrshnan or hariharan sing to match them - It's high time we move out of this business of whose matches etc.,. You think Kamal and Rajini have similar voices that SPB can sing for both of them - where the hell is rajini's accent in any of the singers voices.

POTHUMAPPA, Pothum nippaatuppa-
Voice matching is a myth and a corrupt idea like match fixing in cricket, between MDs and vested singers. It was done by TMS 20 yra ago. But thats not the scene now. You hear Udit for Rajini and Sukwinder singh for Prabhu and Shankar for Ajit.Their voices and hindi accented language is intolerable. AR Rahman does it with a singer and even Ilayaraja follows it in his recent movies, the same way in which he was followed by other MDs blindly when he was popular.
When the Music directors like Deva, Ilayaraja and AR Rahman can sing for heros, do they have voice which suit them? Not at all! Why not use Sivachidambaram for atleast selected songs, you will gain some tamil words from the lyrics for the future.
Sivachidambaram is basically unused because he is well off with his forte as a classical and devotional singer. His arena is different with Tamil scholars, Divinity centres and academic universities including the recent Tamil virtual university available at tamilvu.org. That apart he is a transplant doctor. He is not like other singers and he is unique with his talents AND self respect.
I AGREE WITH THE VIEWS OF PERIYAR THONDAN. I pity M'sia vasudevan, SN Surendar, TL Maharajan, Deepan Chakravarthy and his brothers, and a loooooong list of wait listed tamil tongued singers.

Why MSV didnt use Sirkali Govindarajan in late 70s and 80s?. Same reason apploes here. Just being a MD doesnt give a liberty to risk with voice. He could have given songs like kudumban oru kadamban to sirkali but he sang himself.
We dont have much mythological movies now. Even pathos songs are gone case now. Every thing is romantic crap or gana crap. Where is the room for unique voices?.
Just being a MD doesnt give a liberty to risk with voices, they too have thier own pressures.

While we have singing sensations like Udit Narayan, Sukvinder Singh, Shankar Mahadevan, Hariharan, athu, ithu, etc, why unnecessarily bother authentic singers?

He cant afford to keep quiet with his talents.
He has to do some field work like atleast visiting Music directors who are popular with films, in this era of singers doing MURAIVASAL services to Music directors.

Mr. Mani alais Ramani, I asked you a question, Why MSV didnt use Sirkali in later days? you will just raise some issue and wont answer. Stay with a single name buddy.
- From: Kripa (@ 210.214.135.196)
on: Wed Mar 14 04:41:42 EST 2001
MSV did not use Sirkali in later days because Sirkali was too great then as a full fledged Classical singer with too big great recordings like Abhirami andhadi, Ramayanam, Kandar alangaram etc., with popular devotional film hits in Kunnakudis music which was a hot cake then.
Why is kk interested on this point, in this forum?
Does he intend to be an 'internet fact explorer' to force a cause for the ingenuine biassed attitude of MDs to use singers. MDs should be fair always. They should learn from ARR.

I just want to know, why only blame todays MDs for not using voice of Dr. Sirkali.
I thought the thread is about this topic.
By kripa's logic junior Dr. sirkali is also a classical singer and added to that he is busy doctor, why he should be bothered for tamil films?.

Shortcut to make more money and fame that goes with it simple!!.
Someone wants this thread up again and again.
Please understand Thiru Seerghazi Govindarajan was a Legend nodoubt about it.
But please we all know people want to hear something new everytime oldtimers like KJY,SPB themselves arent doing as many project they do.
If someone wants to promote onself there are better ways of doing like finding a good marketing agent and other publicity and not merely starting a useless thread.
All that has to be said is said please stop this

His concerts are attractive and authentic. His recordings are good. His albums are successful. He is travelling all over the world frequently for concerts. Yet -
Can that by itself be a point against his promotion in films. The singers of the current tfm industry are shining only in the recording theatre and they fail miserably on the stage when it is performed live. Probably the latest recording techniques with line by line punch makes it easy for them in the studio and tough on the stage shows.
