IMHO "Paarthale Paravasam" deserves much more praise than it got, and it, according to me, is one of the unsung masterpieces of A.R.Rahman which is not appreciated by many, for reasons I cannot comprehend. And everytime, one of the DF-ers start a fight, they quote PP as example for Rahman's recent failure. I personally think it is way ahead of what we have come to expect from TFM. Probably, that is one the reason why people dont want to face upto it. So, please throw in your opinions whether it is indeed a masterpiece or just plain crappy as some say so.

Inspite of 100+ listenings, I could listen to Azhake Sughamaa and Neethaan En Dhesiya Geetham. I some how hated the male singer of Neethaan En Dhesiya geetham IMHO.
People talked about Manmatha maasam and still can't figure out whether it is a song or dialog. Could be also because I hate KB's movies.

Cud someone tell me in what time the intro for Manmadha masam is sung?
And my guesses for nadhir dhinna guitar:
1. The initial notes on the guitart that start the first interlude (E, G and D).E note is slightly muted, and the next note (G) is a hammer-on from E, and the next note D is again muted. After that the interlude goes with muting some notes, and not muting some notes.
2. The trumpet like sound might be by sustaining the sound and sharply increase the vol, and then cut it, or may be some pedal is used.
3. In the second charanam, U cud hear the noise on the fret board.
4. The buzzing noise in the second charanam (when the female singer sings Idi kadavul therupa irukaa(?), just before the male starts vaa vaa...) may be by rubbing the strings with the pluck.
Could someone confirm??

Can someone tell me what was experimented new in "Parthalle Paravasam" album. I do like 2/3 songs in this album
Adisaya Thirumanam (Nice Rhthym, Lyrics. Esp. the Thirkural towards the end is just apt and fits nicely with the tun)
Manmada Masam (Nice song, well picturized)
Nee Than en Desiyageetham (Nice song, very welll picturized)
But cannot find any new experimentation in this album. May be I am missing something. Please clarify

PARTHALE PARAVASAM-
actually this an album that contain fiffurent kind or rhythm and... sometimes
it may be slitly out from the songs rhythm.
but... i think in this movie... ar rahman had did a very big successfull tunes expecially for LOVE CHECK,MANMATHA VAASAM , NADIRDHINNA and NEETHAN ENN DESIYA GEETHAM.All the songs have different kind of tunes and backround music.Then.. the ALAGE SUGAMA AND ANBE SUGAMA is actually and old tunes that allready had used before , he slitly changed them and used again. After that MUNDRELUTHU ,tis a songs sounds like arabic music.its nice, very nice.but.. the song became dull because of the unmatched lyrics with the song.
if u hear carefully the mundreluthu song..
then u will know that..
the lyrics are very lovely and romanticly but the is very loud and very fast with short tunes.
so..
if u listen to AR RAHMAN music quality .. then it will very 100 % perfect tunes.
but... if u hear to the songs it self.. then u will don't.
the only song i don't like it PARAVASAM PARAVASAM
BECAUSE of the chorus voice.
not becasue of the music.
the tunes are very nice
and i think nobody can did all the tunes.
its really a good albul with musical dreams.

Parthale Paravsam was at least a different album from the run of the mill stuff. I had hoped everyone wud agree. Manmadha Masam, Adhisaya Thirumanam and Love Check are something hard to come by, IMHO, these days.
But apparently, some people still consider: a thousand violins being abused in the background alongwith exotic horns being blown way too hard, and in a general sense, ppl trying desperately to rupture ur tympanum, constitute the real experimentation in Tamil Film Music. Not to forget the 'u know what' beat.
People seem to be stuck inside cocoons of the past. I dont mind them being so. Whats annoying is they curse those who metamorphosed to the next stage..

Well said JPM.
I suppose people wanting nothing further than MASS APPEAL numbers like O Podu, Marudha Malai, & Raakamma will not be able to appreciate masterpieces like PP. It's their loss, dont u think?

aiiiiaaaa..... its not been long before when i used to hear "well, when people do not listen to IR songs then its their loss, not his"..... and now i hear this for some other MD..... enabaa shall we classify both these MD's as "has been"aaa or shall we all group together and decide that "peoples taste" has gone bad :-)

No we shall say that IR Fans will only be happy the day ARR's sales records come down.
Bcos they are living under the delusion that ARR brought about IR's perceived "downfall" (something i learnt in the ir never give up thread) and until the day comes they can joyfully conclude ARR is no longer popular, they will try everything to make that 'happen' (even if it isnt happening).
For instance, they will spread stories that the producers who are approaching ARR were actually turned down by IR initially and that ARR has broken up with a leading lyricist even when he appears tog wit him in public, among a whole host of other low-down, hypocritical and childish strategies, which shows how pathetically desperate they are to bring down ARR.

They have been predicting the downfall of ARR since Year 1!
In the meantime he has been growing and growing and achieving never-before scaled heights.
The more vayitheirchals these people have, the greater height he reaches. There IS a god. :)

If u even for a moment, thought that i was complaining about the lack of the general public's tastes, you cant me more misinformed. All 'ppl' i was referring to was the ppl in this df who r stuck in the past.

it's like calling a junk movie like vishnu or rasigan to be a masterpiece just bcos it didn't appeal the masses and putting it in the leagues of vAsthuhara and madhilugaL (they too didn't appeal the masses...WN, i'm sure u wudn't have even heard of these two movies ;-) )

JPM,
It was me, I didnt post without IP on purpose. It happens when u post in a thread which is still in the archives. The IP goes missing by itself. I wasnt being desperate. I was being sarcastic and it was directed at Yaaro's and Shanker's posts in another thread. They were talking about PP not having mass appeal and every IR's albums having mass appeal and I was trying to knock some sarcasm about how certain Mass Appeal numbers (which I know the DFers here wud object to) were not exactly at the top ranks when it comes to quality. As usual sabesan was at it misinterpreting everything tat comes his way and jumping to conclusions for his own gain...pls see my ABC reply to him in the mass appeal thread.
S, I thought all those 3 numbers had mass appeal. Too bad if ur offended by them being piled together. S, if u deny PP is a good quality album, ur the one pretending to be sleeping.
