Kavitha Subramaniam - Excellent Singer

Though Kavitha is a Tamilian, since her birth she is staying in Mumbai. She has learnt Hindustani Music from tender age. She was first singing Jingles, then was a tracks inger for Lata Mangeshkar. Her song Hawa hawa .. is still remembered. She has sung in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada also. Shall we discuss her songs in Tamizh?

  Good. I am a hard core fan of Kavita Krishnamurthy. She is one highly under-utilized talent in our country. Today, in Hindi films, whenever a classical song is required, she is the one who is invariably chosen. I was moved to tears when I heard her song in Devdas "Kaahe chhed chhed mohe" composed by Kathak exponent Birju Maharaj. She deserves a national honour for the song. She also similarly deserved awards for her songs in Saaz, Bhairavi and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. But the same year that Bhairavi was released, the award went to Chitra for some really ordinary Hindi song - "paayalein chunmun chunmun..." :-(

  I agree with you ,av. Her song in Devdas was just awesome.Pity, her effort got overshadowed by an youthful sensation called Shreya(She was also good) ,who sang for the queen Aishwarya ,in the same movie. One of her songs in Tamil,
  'Muthirai ippodu' with SPB in film Uzhaipaali MD: IR, is my favourite peppy number.

  her voice in Uppu Karuvadu, Achacho Punnagai was damn good. One of my favorite songs.
  yes, it was very bad, when Shreya got award for Devdas.
  Who won the National Award for last year best female singer? Does anyone know abt it? She is really a good singer.
  Filmfare award also chose Shreya, but Kavitha's songs were popular in that Movie. It is really Politics.

  Hoove, Hoove song is a fantastic melody. It is Kavitha's rendering of the song which is the highlight of the song, along with Sadhu Kokila's music.
  
  It was released more than a year back, and I have listened to it several times.
  
  Melody lovers should listen to this song. A tamil version is also available in the film, Kaveri, which was dubbed from Kannada. But it was sung by someone else.
