Hi,
I noticed something in the song "Nadhiye.." from the movie "RYTHM". The speed (is it called tempo) suddenly reduces at "medu pallam ..." (listen from 3:21 till 3:41, you will get what I am talking about). Any idea why this is done. Its slightly awkard at that point. The voilin interlude that follows is very interesting & good. I liked it.
Is it just me who has obsreved?

In the song "Anbey..." (Sadhana Sargam), does anyone know what instrument (maybe simulated in synth) used at the begining of the first interlude. Its sound & tune is very good. The same is used even at the beginning of the song. I liked the first interlude very much. Infact there is only one charanam.

I dont think Rahman ever scored music for a Maniratham production not directed by him ... "Adutha Manirathnam padathukku isai Rahman illai, Dina than" -- to me that clearly says that he will be scoring music for a movie directed by Maniratham. Even Deva scored for a couple of Manis productions -- nobody claimed that he was scoring music for a Manirathnam movie then ...

Last word on Maniratnam's next I suppose, Dina is scoring only for his home production titled 'dum dum dum', directed by his assistant and dialogues by crazy mohan, cos its a full length comedy! his next directorial venture is 2 years away!....everybody else can eat their words!!!

Hi...
Is there a Rhythm web site??
Neer -- Nadhiye Nadhiye -- Unnimenon has done a great job with the classical tunes...but I think in the charanams, the song tends to tune down a bit...overall, ok though.
Kaatru -- Kaatrey en vaasal vandhai -- Kavitha Subramaniam (formerly Krishnamurthy as the name has been changed on the Rhythm cassette) and Unnikrishnan do an excellent duet---perhaps the best song in the movie... The melody is very slowly...and very deep...it has a very ethereal tone...
Nilam -- Nilame -- A very "Rahmanish" song---rather the usual..
Vaanam -- En vaanil -- Another good work by Sadhna Sargam, but the song doesn't have what it needs to be a hit---it emphasizes the "heavenliness" but tends to be too fast for a description of the sky....
Thee -- Ayyo Pathikichchu -- The song itself is ok----Udit Narayan has done done that well, but Vasundhara has a great voice! I actually met her at Bangalore airport---and her talent is really good! The rhythm is nice...but Udit's voice does not blend with hers..
Overall, Rahman has composed excellent music for each element... Overall, the music is good....ESPECIALY KAATREY EN VAASAL VANDHAI...MEDHUVAAGA KADHAVAI THIRANDHAI....KAATREY UN PEYRAI KAETAEN....KAADHAL ENDRAI........

dear guys,
an observation-I could not help mentioning this especially after reading in another thread about Rhythm cassette rates being reduced-usually ARR fans come out in droves 'reviewing' aqny recent albums.I definitely detect a certain ennui about Rhythm. There is a thred in forumhub as well-there are exactly 10 postings about rhythm of which half are irrelevant.and in the review an album thraed do you know how many reviews are there over the past one month-exactly one -and this is a single line review.sounds like even the HCARRF 's are not too impressed with Rhythm!

You know what folks, I was actually a bit disappointed by the songs in "Rhythm". "Nilamae" had a good tune, but the singer, Shankar Mahadevan, sounds as if he's hoarse (thondai kattikitu paadra maadhri irrukku). As someone in this thread pointed out, Rahman has this habit of changing th tempo halfway through a song, which sounds very awkward. Another point to make... someone here said that Vasundra Das has a great voice!!!!! Vasundra Das doesn't have a great voice, and besides, it hurts to listen to her mercilessly murdering Tamil the way she does! Most of the songs had good interludes in them, but overall, (I hate to say this, being a fan of A.R.Rahman) it was a bit of a disappointment.

friends,
Talking in general about everyone who is cribbing about ARR using non-tamil singers to sing, and how they mispronounce/murder tamil,....it would be very interesting for us to get together and check out how well each one of us talks tamil...:))
