Shankar-Ganesh are the second most prolific music composers in tamil, after MS Vishwanathan.
Their works deserve to be analysed.

  A surprising fact is that S-G composed some
  quality songs in languages other han Tamil.
  I had heard a handful of their composed songs
  in Kannada a nd Telugu, a few years ago. I was
  really impressed with the liveliness and vividness
  of their compositions. Almost all their songs
  that I heard belonged to the 1980's.

  Yesterday in JayaTV's Ari Giri they interviewed Ganesh of SG..They were making fun of him like anything..
  Baaski: "IR recording bothu avar ellam windowsayum muda solliduvaramey...but still neenga eppidiyavathu tune thirudiduveengalamey..athu eppidi?Vella dress pota yaarayum IR recording room pakkama allow panna maatangalamey..unmaya?
  He also said whn a IR song comes("Ora therinjukiten..olagam purinjukitaen") soon a SG song comes("Samsaaram athu misaaram")..
  Many kindals like that..but he never lost his temper..he says its all inspiration and directors ask for such songs..

  S-G must have composed nearly 1000 films all languages put together. They are excellent composers (particularly Shankar) and many melodies still linger in us to this day. Just because Bosskey had commented something things wont change. They had been in this field several years before IR arrived and had composed some good melodies. They never had any pretensions to greatness and any movie that was assigned to them they did well. Atleast one song in each film they did was excellent. Copying in tfm had been there right from Papanasam Sivan period and there is nothing wrong. Who are this Hari & Giri to talk about SG? They know nothing.

  "Idhaya thaamarai" had one beautiful number "Oru kaadhal devadhai boomiyil vandhaal".. i still feel that it was so dangerously close to an IR way of composing and for a very long time i was thinking the song was by IR..!!
