If Maniratnam works with Ilaiya Raaja again , will he be at gain or loss ???

FOLKS....
While Manis and IRs combination churned out much quality that captured the peoples heart , Manis and ARs combination won them lots of success , money and fame all over,which Mani got used to now.Do you think he shall be at loss or gain if he works with IR again ??

  If MR happens to pickup IR for his next venture It will definitely be a budget film or a masala movie or it could well be that he has lost his last 10 years of memory all sudden for unknown reasons.

  My take on this is that MR will gain or lose based on how you look at it.
  
  Pros:
  Quality of the songs and bgm will improve. (I am an IR fan!)
  MR will be forced to come back to his roots and we might see classics like Nayagan, Mouna Ragam again. (The quality of his movies has suffered the moment the description "India's ace director" got to his head and he started making "trilogies" (uyire/dil se was a ridiculous movie!)
  
  Cons:
  ARR has better appeal and if MR decides to go with IR, the movie might not be as big a hit as he would like it to be - and he might not want to take this risk, especially since he has not given any great movies in the recent past.
  MR will no longer be described as India's ace director!
  
  After he joined with ARR, MR's movies have been Roja (good) Bombay(just OK) Iruvar (good) uyire (miserable) alai payuthey (decent). I havn't seen thiruda thiruda, but looks like I didn't miss much by not watching it. All the movies where he consciously tried to cater to the all india audience have been just ok, or flops. But the music has been good in all his post-IR movies. I dont think BGM is a factor in the commercial success of a movie.

  thiruda thiruda is ARR's best work till date BGM and otherwise..(IMO)
  
  I wud say you missed more than a lot if you didnt see it..
  
  the movie might not have done well... i agree... but this one is my personal fav.

  MR doesnt need IR.. he is doing well w/o IR. If MR has any problems its got nothing to with the music of his movies.. even if his movies have failed his music has done well...
  
  I dont even think MR has a slightest notion of shifting to IR.. it will NOT happen any time soon.
  
  It will not happen because
  
  1) IR is not the solution to MR's problems (if any)
  
  2)The music wont be significantly better. MR-IR is not overwhelmingly better than MR-ARR.. i wud say the quality (BGM included) was the same..
  
  it is the IR fans who are worrying aout this... because no one else cares.. most of MR's fans have now become IR fans..
  
  its the HCIRF who r still sticking to stone age..

  Thiruda Thiruda included one of the most unabashed BGM lifts in TFM history. The train chase sequence had "eye of the tiger song by Survivors" opening bits verbatim. I am sure ARR would have looped it from a CD.
  So much for his BGM skills in Thiruda^2.
  I agree songs were refreshing.

  I was commenting on the movie. I dont watch a movie just because it's music/bgm is good.

  I have listened to "eye of the tiger" a thousand times..
  
  except for the starting "heavy guitar" kind of sounds.. nothing is similar..
  
  that too i wudnt call it unabashed copy..

  Just A query b'cos of this topic!
  Has a possible MR-IR merger been discussed/rumoured anywhere recently? Well, if that happens it will be great no doubt. But ARR has done exceedingly well for MR & it is unlikely that ARR will be ditched at the present time. As far as MR is concerned he gets what he wants from his MD's. With IR, Manirathnam may not benefit commercially, but I believe he will undoubtedly relish the music.

  They won't get together.If MR ask to do then IR will consider only.Because IR is the person who help MR.With IR music film like Mouna Ragam,Thalaphathi,Pagal Nilavu,Nayakan and many more get hit.The one and only reason for that is our IR.IR is the person who help a lot of music director to do well.His music will help them.MR is already tell that IR is a Genius.So,we see whether MR ask IR to do Music to his movie.

  Many directors benefited from MS Visvanathans music for many years but since IR appearances in the early 80's everyone switched to IR. MSV can still score music but no one prepared to work with him. When the history repeats I don't know why people expects directors like MR to work with IR. Even if MR wants to work with other MD's IR name can't even get in MR's MD's short list due to many other talented quality MD's out there who are many times better than IR. People who recons that MR should work with IR are simply have no idea about what the future holds.....
  
  So I would urge IR fans to recognize the changing world and not to make gain out of others suffering!!!!

  MR have high regards for IR.In most of his interviews when asked abt IR he said that he is a genius...Dont know what happened between him and IR..But kamal,Sujatha,MR,BR,Parthiban,SAthyaraj,Vikram etc etc are fans of IR music..:-)

  There are many MSV fans out there and all directors who worked with MSV is not going to say that MSV is rubbish. MR's statement is merely a recognition of his old days and have no bearing in the future, otherwise he would have said my next venture will be with IR.
