http://www.raaja.com says IR will be using the services of Hungary Symphony Orchestra for the BGM score of Lajja. Atleast will this one be released as an audi, or will be an another story like Hey Ram never to be heard.

That was b4 Rajkumar Santoshi signed with IR for Lajja. Maybe he will change his decision after seeing IR's output :-))

Uthai ayya,
Your posting is a real insult to IR, I am very upset on this. Even before the movie/music is released, How can you claim he will change his decision after seeing IR's output ? Till today I haven't seen any director commenting that 'IR's music - either songs/BGM as bad'.

NagaS,
I think you misunderstood what Uthai ayya wrote, he meant that Santhoshi will change his
decision about the MD for Bhagat Singh which is
not IR currently after listening to IR's efforts in Lajja.

Can someone tell me where I can find the song 'Vaaranam Aayiram' from Keladi Kanmani, with music by IR. I don't mean the latest one on Hey Ram. It's Janaki's version. Also, SPB sings another song from Aandaal...

Kayan,
I am not sure where you can listen to that song ... But thanks a lot for reminding this song, Excellent bit song it is - used in the right situation as well, Where is that great Vasanth today ? :-(
One has to listen to this song just for the suththamana tamil pronounciation by Janaki .. I feel as if andaL herself is singing the song !!!

Listen to 'Vaaranam Aayiram' from Keladi Kanmani, with music by IR
http://www.raaga.com
It's a wonderful ragamalika - set in the ragas Mohana, SriRagam, and Kapi. Mridangam and Bass Guitar are the assets to this composition.
Thanks for reminding this song.

the above artcle mentions IR as having run out of his luck after parting with VM.as far as I know, they fell out in 86(47 movies)
87-32,88-44,89-43,90-47,91-39,92-54(!), 93(40).THE YEAR 93 included good hits such as
Aranmanai Kili,ATMA, EJAMAN, kalaignan, valli, manikkuyil, marupadiyum, walter vetrivel, thalattu.there were plenty of hits in the previous years as well.
does anyone know which was the last song in this conmbination?

It is absurd to even think that IR flopped after fighting with Vairamuthu..They Split in 86 I think..
There were so many mega hits after that as my friend XYZ has listed and did we not get great songs from movies like Anjali and Apoorva Sahodarargal....to name a few in the late ninenties...thevar magan
Don't start encouraging absurd articles like the ones on indya.com......the same article on arr says he is having a bad patch in Hindi.....Listen to Lagannn...look at the sales and then make a judgement for yourself...

xyz - i read this article some time back and just laughed at it... after IR split with VM, there were many hits...... so saying IR fell cause of split with VM is totally junk..... iam sure either VM wrote this or some of his *fan* wrote it :-)

Could anyone tell who composed what songs of Mella Thiranthathu Kathavu? I know Oorusanam should be a MSV song? But, is Vaa Vennila an MSV number too? That song is amazing. I was thinking that Mudhalvan duet there is a song with a creative sound by both singers zand i though ARR did it first, the same thing was already done in the Vaa Vennilla Song. But was it MSV or IR's song? Please enlighten.
Swamiji or Cosmician or rajaG ....

FYI,
"En Iniya Pon Nilave" has been released and running in Little Anand, Madras. Its not a great thing, but it will have due value for the IR's countdown towards 800th Movie remark.

IRFan...melody and tune..you can be sure MSV had a major chunk...IR would have done the padding and dressing up to make it contemporary..this is just my intuitive feeling...DFers with more information will be a better judge....
BTW IR in his long tenure ..I had also mentioned this once before had done some amazing innovations but stopped short of carrying it further to their logical conclusion...the revlution ARR created in 1993 could have been already created by IR in 1987 maybe during the "Punnaigi Mannan" days...but IR was more classical minded not a technology lover...I don't blame him..its good he stuck to his individuality....
ARR on the other hand has brought in jazz and pop influences more...well you may like it or not like it but its more in sync with the times !

And one thing you can be sure of...everything is "old wine in a new bottle"...Isaignani himself had summed it up thus.."music is just 7 notes and their combination"...
of coures genius is required to strike the right chord in the masses heart !

"IR was more classical minded not a technology lover"..you betcha..especially ICM and WCM and their fusion..many song will have a indian melody backed by a WCM counter melody..(eg. listen to thEn mozhi..from sollath thudikkuthu manasu). Even the latest aandAn adimai song -enna enna pAda paduththarAn..will have this kind of orchestration..
Re: jazz and pop influences - There is a 'Public Market' near my workplace. Here they have afgan/indian/thai etc.. cuisine. I always go there for lunch ..But today my mother-in-law made idlis in a proper idli-pot over cloth etc and made sambar, idli podi etc..wow..what a pleasure..novelty has its appeal..but Quality or depth is important.

cosmician:
thanks. but my guess is that IR did 4 of the songs and MSV did 3 if it include Vaa Vennila. I guess IR took it as a challenge to provide the prelude and interludes for that song. Dil Dil is a classic number and it is just vintage IR, Kuzholudum is also one amazing song. But, I wish somebody just removed my anxiety that the Vaa Vennilave is not MSV's but total IR. Can someone ehelp?
