IR songs that never made it to screen

Raaja has been over-generous to some directors in composing more than the required number of songs for a particular film. as a result, one or more songs get dropped from the movie, though they are included in the soundtrack. eg: vikram, which has a beautiful KJY duet "sippikkul oru muthu malarnthathu", Michael Madana KR, "aadi pattam thedi thennal" and another chitra solo. are there any other such songs?

  There is a great song 'Azhakadalil thedia muthu' by MV and SJ from Sattam En Kayil which was not in the movie.
  
  There is another song by SPB from a kamal movie...I think it was sakalakala vallavan which used to be played on the radio but never was in the movie.
  
  The other song is "Dhoorathil Naan kanda un mugam" by S Jankai in Nizhalgal but not shown in the movie.

  indira sundariyE is from thanthu vittEn ennai. It is in the movie and the movie got eleased.. I must be among the unfortunate few who got to see the movie. :(
  Reg. oru kanam oru yugamaaga .. there were multiple vesions of the movie filmed. :-). In one version the lovers die and in another they unite. One of the versions had the song in the BGM. I donot know if there was a version in which the song was picturised fully.
  There is another great song that never made the final cut.. raasaathi raasathi from poovarasan. hmm. they could have picked a dabba song to leave out.. they had plenty in that movie. :-).
  Many of the IR versions of songs never make the final cut eg. naanaaga naan illai, pottu vaitha oru vatta nila, ithayam oru kOil, ennai thaalaatta varuvaaLA, the full version of kuyil paattu in en raasavin manasilE etc. The last mentioned didn't even figure in the versions of the tape released after the movie came out. :(.

  oops: indira sundariyE is from en arugil nee irundhaal and not thanthu vittEn ennai. The later was directed by Sridhar and had some really good songs too. I guess that Sridhar would have been happy if those hadn't sen th light of the day. It made one wonder - is this the same guy who made kalyana parisu, kadhalikka nEramillai etc..

  1. 'Sollaatha RaagangaL Ennenna', a haunting SPB-Janaki duet from Mahanadhi with an unusual rhythm pattern (the movie just had a BGM version of the pallavi in the scene where Kamal meets Sukanya and there's a slow motion fantasy of them going round in circles, holding hands)

  1. "dathedutha muthu pillai yaaro", sung by P.susheela and chitra did not figure in the film "Rettai vaal kuruvi".
  
  2. In "Katrinile varum geetham", the title song "Katrinile varum geetham" was sung for three heroines (triple acting by Kavitha) by three different singers vani jairam, janaki and susheela. Susheela's version was like a ghost song and it was not in the film.

  Hey, I hear that 'Naan Thanga Roja' doesn't appear in Time. I heard the same for 'Chinanjiragunile' (Kannukkul Nilavu fame). Also, I hear that in the Telugu film Aalapana, 'Priyathama Thamma' isn't in the film.

  Poottada Pottukkal indeed was released, had a great song by SJ ( anandam anandam ....)one Malayalm actor I think by name Jeyan ( who had a premature death from accident had acted).
  If I am not wrong, "Panjami" starring Mohan, Rajalakshmi etc.. was the one which never got released ( another all time classic by our favorite Mottai "Udaya kaalame....)

  Poottatha Poottukkal was released in 1980. However the film was a big flop, and Mahendran was very disappointed. Kumudam gave a very harsh review- the final line was -'Slow'kkal moondru vagai- Slow, Dead Slow, Poottaatha Poottukkal!
  
  The film starred Jayan, Premi and Charulatha. IR had given some great songs. All the songs in the film were solos by SJ.
  
  Apart from 'Anandam anandam nee thandhadhu', another awesome song was 'Vanna vanna vanna poonjolaiyil pooppolavey'

  What about the song "Mudhal mudhalil paarthen - kaadhal vandhadhe". The song is a duet kind bu Hariharan and Chithra but the film has got only Hariharan's version - the second charanam is different though.
