Hello everybody

I wish to place this thread in all times and This is only for IR fans.

Here I start with 2 wonderfule songs

1) Madai Thiranthu Thavum - Nizhalgal

Fresh, Fresh and Fresh. WHat a full of freshness. I always enjoy while listening this song. On the way, at the room, anywhere at any mood.


2) Puthithay Ketkum Putham Puthu Keerthanam - Raman Abdullah

A simple and nice melody. But the last sound before the second Charanam melting me. Wov

  Great to see you quote "Vizhiyil un vizhiyil". The lyrics of that song is excellent not to mention IRs tune and SPB's vocie.
  
  
  I would say PS-IR combination is second to none. One has to listen to these two songs.
  
  "kannan oru kai kuzhaindahi" and "thiruththerial varum silayo"
  
  In these songs the voice of PS is at her best. I am pained to see PS did not get recognition deserved for her.
  
  
  The other notable PS, IR songs are
  
  1) Thalattu pillai ondru
  2) En kanmani un kadali
  3)Nanoru pon oviyam kanden (SPB, PS, SJ)

  There are couple of very good (what an understatement!) songs from Nandu.
  
  1) Manjal Veyyail malayitta poove
  2) Alli thandha boomi annaiyallava (MV)
  
  The tune for thse songs when ever i hear make me melt.

  Anyhow, in response to MusicMouse's query on Thirumathi Pazhanisaami, Kattumarakaran, Oru Oorile Oru Rajakumari, and Paattu Vathiyaar, here's my take:
  
  Kattumarakaran-- Of course, I really like 'Kathum Kaathal', it is a very lavish composition in raagam Sarasangi (roughly speaking, as there are anya swaras present in the pallavi). 'Vetri Vetri Endru' is also an interesting composition. On the other hand, I think that 'Chinna Poove Poove' should have been done away with.

  Has anyone heard the song 'Keytkuthadi...' in Kattumarakaran? I haven't.
  
  Thirumathi Pazhanisaami-- Everyone knows 'Paatha Kolusu...', and to be honest, it's a great song (Raagam Abheri (?)) But I was attracted to another song in the album, 'Nadu Saamathile...' Must've been its simple orchestration and its raagam (the pallavi sounds like Sudhasaveri, whereas the charanam sounds like Mohanam. Remember, 'Malargalil Aadum Ilamai Puthumaayi'?) 'Amman Koyil Vaasalile...' is a very interesting composition... at first it sounds like your run-of-the-mill Sindhu Bhairavi based folk song, but it can get you, so to speak! 'Kuthaala Kuyile...' I haven't listened to this song many times, but I vividly remember the machine gun sound in the prelude. The other two songs I haven't heard.
  
  Oru Oorile Oru Rajakumari-- Never heard these songs!
  
  Paattu Vathiyaar-- I really like 'Solai Malare' and 'Poo Maari Om Maari'.

  One other dimension of IR : Seemingly bizzare songs yet enjoyable songs can be given by him. Example,
  Maman varuvan malligaipu kudupan - Movie-??
  Vadi en kappa kazhangu - (Alaigal oyvadillai)
  Anne Anne Sipai Anne -
  Kotaikul nadagam nadakkuthu elelan kuyile - (kallukkul eeram)
  Attukutti mutai ettu - 16 vayadinile
  Great and groovy
  Kaakka Kaakka - Julie Ganapathy
  
  These songs are full of crazy voices in through out the songs but thoroughly enjoyable and fits to situation aplty

  Hey! Right now, I am listening to the songs in 'Ilamai Kalangal', just uploaded at Raaga.com. I am listening to the 'Paada Vanthathor Gaanam' number. What a difference in sound quality compared to that of the song in a tape I recorded two years back. Also at Raaga.com they uploaded the songs from 'Naan Mahaan Alla' and 'En Uyir Thozhan'. At tamiltune.com, they uploaded five songs in 'Kizhakkum Merkum'. Enjoy.

  I think songs from movies like Kavikkuyil , Aaradhanai, Eera Vizhi Kaaviyangal, Thyagam stand out for the superb quality of tunes and elegant orchestrization in them. I would suggest folks to check out the SOTD archive for these masterpieces.

  Prabhu, what's the fuss? I thought it was only customary, if one wants to revive a thread. But alright, if you must have an explanation. I haven't really had a chance to listen to the songs in 'Thirumathi Pazhanisaami' until recently. That's why.

  Recently I had the good fortune to listen to 2 rare SJ numbers which Iam sure many wouldn't have heard.
  1. "Yetham erachu kaathirukken naalum" - from film Bhairavi
  2. Udayam varuginradhe from Kavikuyil.
  Both of them are such sweet , sad songs and these songs now belong to the endangered species category.
