NagaS,
I agree with you, Mu. Mehta vin kavithai pramatham.
Vel, others.
Well said. Interesting to see how admin of tfmpage has hosted the so - biased version of the review in the first page, when there were some good comments ifor them to write in the first page.
Enna mana vaanil
Aathorathile
out of the world songs.
Lyrics are great. I feel that I am hearing a complete album after a long time.
mottai,
As u said songs are so apt for the movie. I think that is IR's one of the major talents :)).

It is good to see IR is trying to go back to his old days, using natural instruments, simple tunes and good lyrics. I am waiting to see him to go back to his early 80s days. Looks like he is proceeding in that direction.
'kAsi' is better than 'azhagi'. Hariharan has done a good job in this album. Very good effort from the lyricists. I would say this album will be a big hit in south TN but not sure about how people would take it in Madras.

I heard kaasi yesterday twice or thrice. I liked all the songs. But when I read some of the early postings here - I thought probably I should have my ears checked. Atleast now there are some supporters (Gives me strength to think that there are people here with my kind of ears). :)-
IMHO, the strengths of Kaasi are :
1. You can listen to any of the songs and understand and appreciate the Lyrics. IR has made sure that the music doe not overtake or jar the lyrics.
2. Almost all the songs are by HH but no two songs sound the same (atleast to me).
3. People who have been listening to IR for years know that the tunes are very IR'ish and also the interludes are almost predictable (haven't we heard similar interludes) but still the songs pull you and make you listen (Guess only IR can do it).
4. HH might not be SPB but I feel that he has done a great job. IR must have 'bend nimithufied' to get it out of him.

"Ennayyaa paattu ithellaam, Kanraaviyaa irukku. Aethaavathu oru variety irukkaa? Onnum kidayaathu. Summaa, kanda, kanda paattellaam kaettuttu irukkeengalae......."
Eppidi thaan Kasi paatta kaettuttu, enakku mattha paatellaam thonuthu. WOW! What a nice piece of work from Maestro. As Jeera said, IR must have tried hard to bring out the talents of HH for Kasi. Kasi is another milestone in IR's career. Well done Raaja! Hats off!!!!! I was sooooooooo impressed by the songs.

should SPB have rendered the songs? no doubt that SPB has an instinctual feel for a musician's composition, but guys, give a chance for an upcoming singer. after HARIHARAN did justice to FRIENDS' POONGATRE(I believe that Raja composed this song just for him), it is time he had a chance to expose his talent. no denying that he seems to have genuinely tried his best while realising that he has entered another world. GOODLUCK HARIRAN (that is, if you get another chance)

I listened to KAASI and AZHAGI songs.
Kaasi songs are sooo for the movie, I guess, may be they will be interesting when watched along with the movies. There are a couple of fresh tunes, but still they are all for the movies more than to stay as a seperate album. HH has done a great job, it is difficult to say whether SPB would have been great or not but HH doesn't dissapoint though (my assumption is, may be it is one hero and he sings all the songs, so for maintaining the same voice they might have used HH for all).
Azhagi has two Great songs, Paatu solli song takes you to the 80's, it gives that nostalgic feeling of songs which made us become a fan of IR, same old predictable interludes, ups and downs in the tune. But there is this great song Oliyilae Therivadhu. WOW what a great tune, it is so fresh, dudes. My vote is for this song, don't miss out.

to admit the truth, only since 10 years, have I been a diehard fan of IR's music (i would give anything to be with him), though i only later realised that i grew up enjoying IR's songs without knowing it was created by him. the more i listen to his creations the more i am convinced that it is divine inspiration. be it NAMING IT,GOING WITH WIND, KUILs or ANNAKILIs

KAASI is unbelievably simple and yet stunning. Raja proves he is the ultimate authority in music that we have today...and he proves in KAASI that you don't need even a single techno instrument to make quality music. I would rate KAASI much much above CHINNATHAMBI..KAASI is high class sophisticated folk music, brilliant & pure Raja's genius in full flow..Raja,you are just too good....thank you so much for this offering to us. In my home, right from my 10 year old kid to my father-in-law (he is 55) and my husband, every one seem to be glued to KAASI....great job...
