  Does anyone refute the fact that the song "Thendral Vandhu from Avatharam was a classic which only the maestro can sing matching Nazar's character in the movie. That song reflects the Innocence of the character. The maestro has sung it in such a way that it is so flat without affecting the feeling in the song. It is very difficult for any playback singer to bring the actual feelings in a song as sung by the MD. Classic examples are (of course "thendral vandhu",Kaadhal Ooviyam in Alaigal Oivathillai, Kaalam Mazhai kaalam Thano from Vidincha Kalayam, Adi aathadi from Kadalora Kavithaigal. Do you think any playback singer could have got the same feel as "THE COMPOSER" would have. For Example some SD Burman numbers sung by SDB himself.
  Ore maji from Bandini, WAhan Kaun hai tera from guide, etc.

  Well said about "ThendRal vandhu" song. One of the master pieces of Raja. It fits exactly with nAzar's innocent character in the movie. The music is fabulous. Also the "chandiranum sooriyanum" is mind blowing. He has sung it more flat and to charcterise the "theru koothu" style of singing.
  But the orchestration takes the song to a higher level than anybody can imagine.
  
  I really urge TFM fans to listen to these songs from Avadharam to feel what arun is saying.
  
  I beleive that IR's voice has some magical attraction.

  Here is one more of IR's Beautiful voice. Can any one even think of matching his perfomance in this song, forget about even singing better.

  Well, when somebody [rex?] said "sendhooram" is selling like a hot-cake, I din take it so seriously. I thought its yet another "hype". But when I visited HMV House Bangalore, they were playing some song and I was mesmerized by the tune and all my senses realzied its IR song and forced me to rush to the counter where they were playing. I enquired wht film was that and to my surprise he told its "sendhooram". BTW, I have been waiting for this album since last week, so I was thrilled and asked him to give me a new cassette of "sendhooram".
  
  alaas.. to my surprise, he informed me that the cassette he was playing happened to be last piece and was already sold to a customer.
  
  Looks like its really selling like a "hot-cake"!

  so! senthooram is IR's latest movie, eh? I listen to IR's songs day and night, in car, in bed, (in tub too), especially 'thendral vandhu' and 'naan thedum sevvandhi poovidhu' and 'kaadhal oviyam'.
  
  they reduce my blood pressure and relax my heartbeats.
  
  he is not human, he is devine. I would listen to his songs even after 30 years from now...

  A point about Sendhooram songs.They are going to stay in our minds for a long time to come especially Chinna mani by IR himself,a nice duet by Unnikrishnan and Bhavadharini,another IR song with the female singer laughing,another Chitra song.Poonthottam is ofcourse excellent with Meethatha and Vanattu(ofcourse SPB would have been better than Hariharan).
  
  Iam sure IR has some wonderful compositions in store for us in 1998 like Desiya Geetham etc.
  
  Chinna mani by IR has an enthralling tune typical of him.It has very simple music very nicely composed.

  I am now listening the old classic from chittukuruvi". Still after 20 years it is superb. Any feelings?
  
  Its a lovely album. Last week, everyday morning I used start my day to office with 'en kaNmaNi kaadhali'. Its simply superb. IR showed his class apart in innovation and creation. That song has a speciality. It doesnt use any violin at all [Flute too?].
  
  It brings out the feelings of a love jodi during a travel. IR had had the challenge of creating the mood & backdrop for a bus travel and also the jodi engaging themselves in thinking abt the other person always and dwelling in some pleasant thoughts. It is set in a lovely pace. Interlude music and dialogues literally brings u the feeling that u r travelling in 'pallavan'.
  
  Hey..wait Im yet to come to the next song in my collection: its 'kaNmaniyE kaadhal enbathu kaRpanyO' followed by 'engengO sellum en eNNangal'
  May be, we need a separate thread discuss our feelings. wht do u say?

  Yes it is a brilliant idea about feelings.Should I post a separate thread? BTW, Poonthotam songs are okay. Hariharan did not do that good a job in Meethada Veenai song. the orchestration is great. Compared to Thalayai Kuniyum Thamaraye it is a shade less. Balu should have sung instead of Hariharan.

  I think we can go ahead with a new thread for "Feelings in my mind while enjoying IR songs" or something of tht sort. I have lots and lots to say about IR songs. It simply changes my mind and mood. Instead of blankly saying "I liked this song or that song", we can get deeper into the song and try to find out what exactly made us to enjoy it.
  
  We can also find out whether a song created the same feeling across the masses which IR had planned for. [For eg: en jeevan paaduthu makes me to feel pathos but guys have told me that its a pleasant song in the movie?!].
