>>A fast love song would mean, a song having love as its theme, esp. conveying or sharing love, with some degree of intimacy and exclusiveness.
We cant call group dance songs as love songs (eg thillana thillana ) <<
Who sets the standard kk ? Let's just say the standard has been redefined these days...and will again be in the future....

As long as people seriously in love don't get offended I'm game.

i think the major factor why ARR has failed to come up with fast duets , IMO, is his reluctance to use tabla and fast drums for these songs.IR had used drums and tabla right , left and center.
sans these two major instruments, ARR's duets sound really dull( to me-My music is your noise and vice versa!).
the fact that he had to be different , i think , has led to ARR avoiding these instruments and has slowed down his duets to a considerable extent-you cannot achieve accelaration without these two.listen to my all time (amazing )favorite poomalaiye-one of the fastest duets i have ever heard-listen to how the fast drum beats in the charanam and the tabla beats in the pallavi gloriously accelerate the song.can you imagine hero and heroine dancing for this song?
the duets i have mentioned (Kadhal kadidham, velli malare, doli doli, dhandiya song from KD and kurukku siruthavale) have this in common-they all use tabla or some other similar instruments AND they dont sound like ARR songs at all-the above include some of my favorite ARR nos.(yes, I do like some of his songs-although the list is small!)
I had mentioned this in another thread a year back that velli malare and kaadhal kadidham and doli doli dont sound like ARR song at all-someone said they all have long charanams -THAT is why.I think the real reason is the use of tabla. They sound more like IR songs-esp kaadhal kadidham and velli malare.this is also compounded by using SPB and swarnalatha and SJ for some of songs mentioned above.

yaaro..I am not sure I agree with part of your theory - not using drums, tabla causes a song to be slowed down. ARR uses drum machines which can be programmed to play at whatever pace you want. Sometimes not even possible with human playing !! The reason I think his duets are slow is because, I suspect, ARR has a pre-conceived idea of how certain songs should sound. Love is slow, with less percussion, dance is louder with instruments getting more exposure etc..
But I am with you on the use of real instruments and singers like SPB, SJ, Chitra. ARR avoids this because he does not want to sound like other MDs. This way I think he escapes direct comparison :) :)

Kiru you may be right. I like ARR songs very much. But really miss the fast duets.
Best examples from fast duets are,
Azakiya Thamiz Makal Ival
Azakiya Vizikalail Arupathu
Valai Oosai Kala Kala Kalavena
These are the best examples. Since I have put 1 MSV song, 1 SG song and 1 IR song, people will think my age may be mid 50s/40s/30s.:-)))))
