Sunar,
Naan intha aattaththukku varalai :-)
You mean to say the way she pronounces 'rettaik kuzanthai' is correct ? (leave all other mistakes !)
I am not ready for any compromise, just because the MD is IR or Sadhana's voice is sweet or whatever !

hmm, seems IR has scored a neat one after IVANN. Good going.
And Ram, though the songs grow on you, it sits straight in ur heart right at the first "hearing".
digression - Watched 'Dhevar Magan" in SUN TV. The film is a crash course on how to create BGMs that suit the movie's various moods. Awesome. Especially, a guitar version of "Inji Idupazhagi"...Stunning :-)

sabesan, it's funny to see u going beserk.
I see tat u got the idea tat I listened to Baba album 47 times and was still trying to listen to it. My dear, tat was a desperate IR Fan who had posted as WN. Go back and have a look. As yet, I have yet to comment on the Baba album as I havent listened to it even once & wont be listening to it till my mum brings me the cd when she comes back this Sunday.
How sad it is tat IR Fans mislead IR Fans these days.
I suppose u dont have an answer to my simple question and have resorted to posting in caps. Cool down my dear. I have an answer to ur questions. ARR Fans get mad and retort back when IR Fanatics spew venom left right & centre from vayatherichal. Otherwise, some so-called ARR Fans will be talking rubbish all the time, but will also happen to have a mysterious past of ARR bashing which they will dismiss as same-side goal...which tells u something.
Anyway I ask u to remain calm. I have nothing against fans of any MD enjoying the music. But I thought I was entitled to express wat I thought about kiru's review. I found it honest and expressed my opinion. I also find some reviews predictable and think they sound artificial. And I didnt like IR's latest albums and decided to express my disappointment. After amazing stuff like Nee Partha Parvai, Oliyile I was expecting something more and felt let down & sorely disappointed. In the past I wud have swallowed my opinions so as not to agitate others. But now I feel tat there's nothing wrong in expressing ur honest opinions (I have learnt this from Fliflo). U may hear more from me in tis thread.
Are Yaar, good decision. If u have similar taste to me, let me assure u tat u havent missed much.

Unnai Thedi Vennila sounds like Naan Thanga Roja from Time. Any raga connection?

Summa irukka udungappa..I am listening to "En Mana Vaanil" and slowly getting swept by some wonderful tunes. Nothing can disturb me indeed.

Now if the same thing is done by ARR, he will be blamed for just reusing the songs for BGM.
I too saw DM on TV. Probably for nth time. No dopubt wonderful movie. Also saw Dil Se in Sahara TV. Did any one see that. YOu will also know what BGM is . ARR to has his style and what an amnazing BGM it was. Now don't compare. If you are really interested, then see the film Uyire in some movie channel this 15th . Some channel has it at the afternoon.
Ofcourse..this is a digression.

Are Yaar,
I think I am repeating this for the n-th time - using songs in BGM is a technique used by many MDs, there is nothing wrong in that !
BUT if you are doing only that as your BGM, then there is something wrong ... thats the difference we want to point-out bt. IR's BGM and ARR's (Ofcourse, not all movies !)
IMO, Devar Magan and MaunaRagam had the best BGM by Raja - atleast in the movies I have seen ...

AGAIN DIGRESSION :-)
WN - first i did think that it was u who had posted the 47 times listening - but then realised it might be some other guy..... but fyi, in the 1st two days when the album (BABA) got released - i don't remember anyone commenting "i liked it in the 1st hearing"..... that was my point..... more or less everyone said "i am hearing it for nth time or n+1th time.... iam sure it will grow in me in n*10th time" kind of posting only.....
and yes you (and everyone) are entitled to *their* opinion.... no one has the right to *object* it - as is the case of calling *others* not being honest..... look - its like this - when someone can keep hearing some song for n or n+1th time, similarly someone else on the other camp has the right to say that they like their MD's song always..... so why bother ? anyway no point in arguying - so lets agree to disagree (as usual) :-)
anyway's, fyi, i was not *bersek* - i wanted to stress my point - and had used CAPS (arghhhh....)... should have used bold or "*"....
sorry for the digression guys.....
END DIGRESSION.....
i was hearing "Kaadhal Jaadhi" in my Car today for the 1st time.... i always heard it in the RAM files in the Rajaangham site..... wow - the flute pieces are real excellant ones..... whoever had been listening to the RAM version of this song, pls get a CD (originalbaaa)..... and give it a hearing in some real good audio system - u will get a real good feeling....
Are Yaar - fyi - IR has used his song as BGM in many many movies.....

The Muthu Muthu song in 'En Mana vAnil' is really great! Though Bhava has improved a lot over the years, I still feel Chitra/Sujatha would have elevated the song to new heights! Ditto for the Sadhana Hariharan song!
Chitra, where are you hiding? TFM needs you badly!

'En Mana Vaanil'....
1.Enna solli - such a nice violin interludes. Solo violin has been a rarity in IR's music offlate. Nice song.
2.Unnaithedi - much similar, in line to 'orurangum nerathil'. IRs version is more soothing & lilting compared to HH. Good.
3.Kuthu Kuthu - A marriage of rustic folk/dappangutthu with classical/carnatic overtones that only IR can concieve & execute
:-). Andha naal gnabhagam.
4. Unai kaanum pothu - Outsourced to YSR ;-)
5. Rottoram - Lost steam in the charanam. IR shud have sung this song IMHO.
6. Muthu Muthu - Karthik always gets a lovely song in IR's albums these days. The song will gel perfectly when seen with visuals (this song is featured in ads). Percussions dominate the interludes (similar to 'isaiyil thodangudhamma')
7. Vayasu Vantha - "Mayamalawagowlai" based gem. This song will win the race, IMVHO.

This is another disappointing flop album from IR. I think it is better for TFM to see him retire instead of giving such junk songs.

"Vayasu Vantha - "Mayamalawagowlai" based gem. This song will win the race, IMVHO."
Vayasu vantha is a mere recycle of Onappu thattu Bullaakku from Chinna Jameen sung by the same Swarnalatha. The scale, beat structure everything points to this.
Overall, even though I had pretty low expectations from this album, notwithstanding all the hype in dinamani/dinakaran etc, its a pretty disappointing and substandard fare from IR.
If Kasi, Devan etc. sounded mediocre this album sounds as if it was made out of tunes that were attempted-and-leftover from those albums.
whats also disappointing is that Swarnalatha and KJY dont sing much these days and to think they were brought to sing these medicore songs! KJY's voice sounds terribly aged.

Where is that IR who composed Sigappu Rojakkal, Priya, Guru, Johny, Tik Tik Tik, Raja Parvai, Kakki chattai,Nayagan,Mullum malarum ,.........
I think (creativity) that IR is no more !!!

Although it is not close to IR's gems, I personally feel it is a pretty decent album compared to other recent releases in tfm (except Ivann). I can still see the variety and creativity which I miss in other MDs albums. Even the lyrics are quite decent. IMO, although not great, this album is worth buying.

I guess IVAN is a testimony to his abilities. It is a masterpiece. I personally feel compared to dippu dippus, maya chaya.. i would say any IR album would qualify as great album. Vem!!! IR has not changed.. It is you who has changed!! The reason why IR doesn't get noticed much is, he is not doing big banner films. Tell me who is remotely closer to IR in giving quality songs nowadays?
As far using songs in BGM is concerned IR started the trend. Only difference between him and Others is he would use very beautifully with different instruments, different moods..
EXAMPLE:
EN BOMMUKUTTI AMMAVUKKU
i don't think it is a song.. but whenever the adopted child comes he gives a music.. he maintains that right through the movie when she comes. But look at the way he has handled that tune for different moods. It was simply a masterpiece and work of a real genius.
ARR tried this technique in MUDALVAN using kurukku siruthavale technique. But it fell flat as he couldn't capture the mood quite well. Failure is due to the wrong choices of musical instruments. Hello ARE YAAR i also like ARR songs. When it comes to BGM, ARR is way way behind Illayaraja.

most of us didnt like many songs at first appeal coz...we did not watch the movie n the video clip.
its one of IR's supernatural that his tunes fits good to the screenplay of the song....thats why we dont get the touch till we listen to the song while watching the movie.
for me ..i had the same experiance with germanyin senteyn malare in ulasai paravaigal....now i fall in love with that song
From: Nijam ILLEI (@ 161.142.100.86) on: Tue Aug 13 02:08:02 EDT 2002
Yes yes, SPM you are right.
Rajini is junior to Mathavan and IR is senior to Thyagaraja Bhagavathar.
Happy?"
