A.R.Rahman was earlier approached for the music of the film, but when he refused, Verma personally headed down south to woo the southern legend.
Vaastu Shastra is being directed by Saurabh Narang, produced by K. Sera Sera and Ram Gopal Verma and stars Sushmita Sen, Chakravarthy, Piya Rai Chaudhary and Purab Kohli.

Guess Me,
I think there is some truth in IR becoming selective. He gave decent score in Virumandi and Pithamagan. But there is no movie after Virumandi.
May be he is selective because of other interests. He was not selective in past though. I agree.

Paran,
ARR has too much things in his plate. Also ARR's main forte is song and this movie will not give much scope for that.
Probably he thought why to go for something that is not his cup of tea.

IR said "No" to Maniratnam in Roja- so ARR got a life. Rite.
ARR said no to RGV- Coz ARR himself realized he can give only flops. After alaipayuthe he is giving continous flops. He already refused Shankar's movie. Maniratnam's AE is another flop.He may say no to mani's next film too.TFM fans should thank to ARR.

another hot news ! - RGV approached IR for two movies - one was Vaastu Shastra and the other a magnum opus inspired by 'Godfather', featuring Amitach and two more prominent actors - IR flatly refused to score for the second one, but with some convincing from RGC accepted to score for VS !

Wrong. After bearing IR's ego for sometime, Mani Ratnam finally exploded to IR in the sets of Dalapathy and fired him. So for the next movie, he was looking for someone who is more polite, more talented, most importantly something different than the usual pathos violin music which was the only choice available then.
The rest is history

Guess Me - "Mani Ratnam finally exploded to IR in the sets of Dalapathy and fired him" - pray tell me what was IR doing in the sets of Dalapathy ?
to best of my (and several others') knowledge, IR rarely comes out of his studio to visit shooting spots (there may be exceptions in some cases) - in that case MR firing IR in the 'sets of Dalapathy' could not have happened, logically speaking!

The actual story behind IR didn't do Roja that the movie is produced by K.Balachandar.
Ratnam do not want any other person. but finally he agreed for new comer ARR.

At an advertising awards function he chanced upon a young man receiving the award for the best ad jingle which he had composed for the popular Leo Coffee ad. At the party that followed the awards presentation ceremony Maniratnam was introduced to the young composer by his cousin Sharada Trilok of Trish Productions for whose company the young man had worked. Mani requested for a sample of his wares. The composer readily complied and invited the director over to his studio where he played out a tune that he had been pushed into composing by his school friend G.Bharat alias Bala who had been greatly disturbed by the Cauvery river tensions. Mani was hooked instantly. He signed on the composer to score the music for his next film which was to be produced by the veteran Tamil director K.Balachander. That film was Roja. That tune would become the song "Tamizha Tamizha".
This is how he got Roja but why was MR on the lookout for a new MD after Thalapathy?
May be he quoted a big price...this is hearsay!

if RGV has signed Raja for Vaastu Shastra, good for him,Ramus colossal hit UDHAYAM had Rajas thumping music, for its hindi version Raja completely different songs with real hindi feel like "meri qadar Jaani".Now that the two are working together again we can expect half decent musical score Ramus new flicks sorely miss.We are spared from the ARR cacophony which is supposed to be out of this world whenever he teams up with Ramu and (just remember the sick 'mangtha heh kya' from rangeela). How could Ramu just sign ARR after working with such class acts like RAJA,R.D.BURMAN and M.M.KEERAVANI,maybe his taste went down the gutter.Wish he did the same with his obsession over insects like Antara Mali and Urmila
