Pepsi ad a la Sakalakala Vallavan

Have you seen the latest Madhavan Pepsi advert? Really cool! I got to know from my friend that the original is from the Tamil movie Sakalakala Vallavan. I quickly bought the soundtrack. Wow!! The music from the song 'Naanthan Sakalakala Vallan' blew me away instantly. Hard to beleive it came out 20 years ago. I've been hearing from my Yamaha amplifier and JBL speakers incessantly. God stop me!!

Can anyone recommend me similar songs by Ilayaraja in that era?

  Unique about IR's disco songs (innumerable, incredible record for one composer):
  
  many of them are really fast paced - in the western disco numbers - i think only few are as fast paced as IR' - Petshop boys & Bee Gees Tragedy are also excellent. Fastest on record as far as I feel is Thithikkum of Kaali definitely. (The recording is unfortunately horrible on the CD from Inreco)
  
  Then, IR' disco songs is not monotonous no reptition of a thems etc...
  
  Another facet, IR disco song does not sound tired or belonging to a 70s style as the Western number. I think IR got the disco music to another level keepin it ahead of the times.
  
  In fact, now i am listening to Thittikkum for the upteenth time which I wold not to an Bee Gees or Donna Summer number. I may be exxagerating but it is my opinion only.

  There are 2 songs I recommend for zanny guitar sounds 'Kasturi maan onru' from film Shankarlaal and vaadi amma ponmagale (with classical anandabhairavi flavour in the charanams) from film paalooti valartha kili. This is IR's second film and he had done a poppish song , very different from tthe rural songs in his frst film Annakili.

  I am living abroad, could not see this advt, just wondering why there are so many IR song based in Indian Advt. I am wondering how this will be? I think Kanne Kalaimane (Hindi version) is also used in one advt. Cannot recall which one (mostly LG).

  I also noticed this pepsi ad song - Illami Idho Idho... and was impressed on the first hearing itself. It sounds really nice when it goes like 'college teenage penngal...'.
