  Saw "Thenali" last weekend.
  
  
  
  • Hilarious and very entertaining movie.
    
  • Kamal looked awesome and young.
    
  • Jayaram stole the show in second half.
    
  • Only hitch in the movie ......the songs (except Swaasame song).
    
  • Movie a sure shot hit for Kamal, Jayaram and

  swami!!!
  looks like swami was a bit "high" when he went to the movie !!!
  i barely laughed thru the whole movie and pl dont question my sense of humor. Jayaram's acting was a bit too much and some scenes were very very irritating( esp when he makes those faces!!)
  Kamal's acting was beyond question and he was superb!

  As per the storyline mentioned in the review, yes,it sounds like 'What about Bob' *ing Bill Murray & Richard Dreyfus was released in the late 80's. But we can all expect Kamal, KSR & Crazy M to mouth a stmt. that they had discussed about this 30yrs ago.

  Yes Genius is correct. After reading tamilcinema.com I went to the movie, the whole movie I could not laugh. Kaathala Kaathala is 100 times better than Thenaali. The only thing is Kamal Speaks like real sri-lankan. BGM is very poor, songs and picturization also poor.

  I agree with Swami. It was a very entertaining movie. Not upto the league of kadhala kadhala but then KSR added some of his own masala. Genius, if you did not like it , it is your personal opinion. Please don't question the "sense of humor" of others.
  
  Song picturisation was good but the songs slowed down the pace of the movie. Atleast there were two songs too much.
  
  Who cares about BGM in a comedy movie? I was laughing so hard that I did not even notice the BGM

  I happened to see Thenaali. Agree with the tamilcinema.com review. Very funny. The entire audience was laughing throughout the movie. Good job by every one concerned. I thought that the songs though not in the excellent category (by ARR standards) suited the movie pretty well. Regarding the BGM, it didn't matter at all.

  thenali was very funny. The jokes are not very silly or loud, like other indian movies, we used to see. This is a must see, IMO.

  Lots of gossips are around saying ALavandhaan is loosely based on 'Seven'. Kamal is playing both roles of Kevin Speacy and Brad Pitt!!!!

  No!! Pal. Kamal himself says that he wrote the story of Alavandaan 15 years back, during his tea-time between movie-shootings!! I dont think its based on Seven.
  
  If suresh krishna is making the movie based on Seven then he should have named it "EZhu"!! JustKidding:)

Kamal looked at least 15 years younger and coupled with his energy ( which will put some of the younger heroes to shame! ), he has single-handedly carried the movie through its paces. I must say Jayaram and the rest did a good job. On the music and BGM, seems that for once, these "ingredients" did not overshadow the movie (like it has been in most of ARR's movies). Definite NOT the best work by ARR.

  Thenali is a welcome one for kamals fan as he badly needs a hit movie.It's true that he has regained his charming looks especially in swasame song.

  also hearing drum and ghatam in Alangatti reminds of water crisis in madras. people rush to fill water in them.

  BTW, Zubeida - main abheli prelude has U2 like (Joshua Tree) sounds. There is also some Achtung Baby influence but it could be just the middle eastern influence.

  Swamiji..if you are old enough I dont mind you addressing me in the singular. As for your advises, they are but gratuitous. Do I have to emulate your attitude ? Or do you threaten to cast a 'sAbam' on me ?
  The good thing about a discussion forum we get together based on common interest. There is no discrimination based here based on any criteria. But mutual respect is the solid foundation on which this setup will work.

  I think "Thenali" is one of AR Rahman's worst performance ever. Deva would have given better than this. May be next time, Kamal and Ravikumar would think twice before going to be ARR.

  "The song is based loosely on raga Darbari Kaanada, and the charana does not seem to flow naturally from the pallavi"
  
  This is exactly what I mentioned a few days back and it is something ARR has to avoid doing out of his excessive zeal for trying something different.
  
  Iam not sure if the pallavi is based on dharbaari kaanda as the reviewer writes.
