  SPB is a man with great voice, without any headweight & also praises other singers without any jealous...

  OFCOURSE RAFI IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD.
  
  whocan sing any songs ranging from "madhubanume naathi kya" from kohinoor to "gulabi aankhen joteri deke" from the train.
  
  how he controls and vary the mood of the song according to the storyline of the film is very very UNIQUE.
  
  it is sad he left this world at a very early stage at 56.

  Ofcourse Rafisahab was the greatest singer(classicals/non-classicals/gazals,etc). For all Rafi fans i would reccommend the collections of Rafi's non-filmi songs. He was the man with not only great voice and a great human quality, but exhibited versatility in all forms of music. If one goes thr' his progress in music in early childhood in that period of time, it becomes quite evident. Songs like "Nafarat ki duniya ko chodkar pyar ki duniya mein khush rahena mere yaar....." could not be sung inspite of 5 attempts by Kishoreda, was finally sung by Rafsahab with the simplicity and ease unmatched and very well mentioned by singer Manna Dey in Sydny performance also. Singers of not only that time period, but even of today find it almost impossible to sing many high pitch songs that Rafi sung with perfection without any technical help as the singers of today get. Thus his versatility in all forms of songs, diffferent picthes,moods etc makes him only of his kind unattainable,unimmitable. I salute to him..because i am myself stage performer...

  I don't know why this argument is going on when this is crystal clear that nobody can ever match the greatness of mohammad rafi... if anybody have any doubt please mail me i will clear them. moreover plz. don't compare him with SPB instead thios would have been far graceful if he was to compare with kishore kumar.... but then also the result would have been the same that Rafi is bestttt.

  I think we should ask SPB, Yesudoss and Jeyachandran about who they think is best? They of course will say it is Rafi Saheb or for that matter they have said so......so I think the fans of other singers (other than Rafi saheb) can better keep quiet.......

  I do not know ant south indian language. I have listnened to SPB's hindi songs and he definitely did a good job. Pronounciation was a problem though. SPB is efinitely a great singer.For me, most of the time it is the music & tune that makes the difference. But when it comes to Mohammed Rafi's songs, I become speechless. Rafi's voice was truly and simply magic.

  Rafi is the best singer so far India has produced. KK was more popular in 70's so was Rafi in 60's. Popularity and quality are not comparable. In terms of quality Rafi is far ahead of others.

  i like old hindi songs despite me being a south indian. i am used to hear songs of many singers. Of all of them Rafi sahab's is the best. Rafi sahab sings with ease any difficult song, and the song mathches with the situation,singer and the musoc beyond imagination. i have also learnt that he was a kind and simple person by nature. With all those talents and fame his simplicity is very touching. it is a pity he left long before i became his fan.although now i do not have chance to see him i can feel the happiness of being with him through the 600 songs i have. if god gives me a boon i would wish to bring back RAFI as a gift for all those die hard RAFI fans like me.
