  Balu Mahendra made a real junk movie with Rajni, Madhavi & Y.G. Mahendran (his role was almost that of a 2nd hero) called 'Un kaNNil Neer vazhindAl'.
  The ONLY saving grace was IR's excellent music.
  
  Remember 'Malare Malare Ullasam' is an all-time SJ classic! Like Venky said, IR has always given some great music for BM. And I'm looking forward to the songs!
  
  I hope this time around the director comes back with the brilliance that he showcased in movies such as MoondrAm PiRai and Veedu. First I thought Julie Ganapathy was an unusual title, and then I remembered Raman Abdullah ;)
  
  Anyway, Sarita, (an unglamorous, yet powerhouse performer with a gifted voice) who's probably in her early forties being roped in as heroine is indeed a welcome trend. Are Tamil films really coming of age?

  Kannamma Kadhal Ennum (IR & SJ) and
  Chinna Mani Kovilie (KJY) are beautiful songs in Vanna Vanna Pookal. I like the beats in Ila Nenje Vaa.

  Yesterday, happened to see Anthappuram ( in SUN, evening 5:30 ) again. If i remember it correctly, that was the fifth time. WOW!!! Raaja music-kaaka etthanai thadavai vaendumaanaalum paarkkalaam. What a woderful BGM score???!! Amazing, esp, the usage of Nothing But Wind piece is really superb! In many scenes, the usage of flute is... i am out of words to express it!!!!!

  Firends - some info. on IR's forthcoming albums - from relaible sources close to me - "EN mana vaanil" and another film (i think it is "Manasellam" ??) - IR has finished the scores - sources say that IR has given "Kaadhalukku Mariyaadhai" style orchestration + rich melodies for both the films - 6 songs for Balu Mahendra's film completed - the same source informs that IR
  is composing with a 'never before seen/observed vengance/veri + speed'!

  IR must have a good sound engineer/recordist to bring a new dimension to his music. Imagine the soul stirring orchestrations of his music coming with the depth of the latest technology. Hope he starts this new era with BaluMahendra's movie.

  Is IR the MD for Janaki Vishwanathan’s "Kanavu Mei Pada Vendum"?
  I heard that it's a film set in the '50s about the Devadasi system.
  Her debut film Kutti, had some great music score by IR. Sadly, the soundtrack never got released (even as a combo-album!)

  Following the link above there is another news about G.V movie.I think this is the movie which one they try to unite VM and IR.First they try to sign serial director of sithi.But that is not happen.Now they want to sign director Cheran for this movie.Hero is Vijayakanth.Hopefully IR and VM will join again.Raja is a Genius.Maestro of this world.He can do everything lah.Very nice guy.

  Local IR fans u are those who are in an illusion.
  the politicians who are corrupt never think that they are doing anything wrong. the same way though ir has been delivering some trash music u guys still make urself beleive that it is great. IR can only give music to a specific audience whereas arrahman can create wonders universally. if western audiences can enjoy indian music it is only because of the great arrahman. the locally acclaimed ir(phew) did 200 to 300 songs in one year almost 150 to 200 sounding alike whereas the great master did each song to suit a genre. u guys accuse the master of copying but go to the tfmpage copied forum u will see ir(******) more than the wizard. The only person who can take music to greater heights and boundaries is A R RAHMAN.
  
  u local fans of ir can do nothing but complain about other md's because ir is nothing but trash

  It says that after HITS like Kaasi & Azhagi IR has become busy again with 15 films in hand including a film by Vijayakanth called "Ramana".It also says that ManiRatnam is talking with IR for his next film.
