Some one was asking about Maharshi. It got released in 1989. The film was made by a director called Vamshi who featured IR as MD till Detective Narada (T) in 1991. Later he started composing on his own.
But IR's music for Vamshi are all hits and are worth listening to.

Guys,
I like to know if CDs/Tapes with just music for IR's songs is available for Karoake singing. I am intereted in singing and recording songs of IR. If I have just the music alone without the original voices then I will be able to use it.
Please suggest any alternatives, even if, CDs/tapes are not available for Karoake recordings.

paamaran, thanks for the kumudam link.
Interesting article, I like the comparison between rajini and kamal. I like rajini, but I think kamal is a much more versatile actor. The most important point is that rAjA's songs deals with various emotions not just the 'jolly song' all the time. Hand-in-hand goes the visual imagery. Ofcourse, BGM is something we dont have to reiterate.
Yesterday, I was watching karisakkAttu poovE, one bit of BGM I want to point out is the nAdhaswaram playing a sad melody during the napoleon-kushboo marriage. This is a marriage being done out of compulsions of the situation and the music was apt. The vAnam pArtha kasikkAdu song is very touching when it is used as BGM. I especially like the flute when it comes in for a moment.

"Illayaraja is back with a bang, literally.." what great words, that too from The Hindu??
These days, people have to started to realise the greatness of IR. I would be really disappointed if some 'Baidyanath Buttacharjee' gets the best music director award for "Eko Mone Boshtoi Kone", instead of IR for Bharathy.

Kudos to the ultimate Raaja for showing his majesty in Bharathy !!!
Indha minminikku is an extraordinary piece by Raaja. Similarly idhu oru nilaak kaalam is a super song. Unfortunately these songs r not found in the websites. The humming in inda minminikku is awesome .......

following is the part of Barathy review by The Hindu
Ilaiyaraja is back again with a bang, literally. One cannot but enjoy the astute and
effective use of the percussion in the re- recording and in ``Bharata Samudayam'' (K.J.
Yesudas) which sends a wave of patriotism even in the most apathetic, and the splendid
use of violins in the same number. ``Vande Mataram'' (Madhu Balakrishnan), Bombay
Jayasri's melodious ``Ninnai Charan Adaindhaem'' also sung by Ilaiyaraja,
``Nirpadhuvae'' sung by Harish Raghavendhar that perk up your senses to the bountiful
wealth of beauty around you, and ``Kaelada'' (Rajkumar Bharati) are numbers that
cannot be easily forgotten. Undoubtedly ``Bharati'' is another feather in the maestro's
already innumerably feathered cap.

Here is another good review on Barathi. The reviewer says that eventhough its a usual melody from IR when u watch it with the movie it adds melody and strength to the movie. The songs goes with the scenes aptly and it moves us.

Guys,
In the above review at Webulagam, the reviewer has requested that some producer should come forward to ask IR to compose music/tune for all the Bharathiar's songs and release it as an album.
That sounds like a great idea and good challange for IR's musical creativity and genius !!!.
