Excellent ! IR rules again.
It would be great if the Raajangahm site loads some samples of Illayavan.

Amal Raj,
I think i have to disagree with you on this point that Bala did not wanted to do a commercial film. nobody in the cinema industry has excess money in their pockets and do movies just for fun and particularly if they know that it is going to be a bomb. they think that by giving something different from the ordinary masala movies, they can show to the public that they are different and also trying to see whether this difference can provide any success for them.
there might very few people who just do not want a big hit masala movies and try to do art films.Cinema is a business not a place for developing aesthetic movies for the people. people in that industry try to make money cos they don't have other better jobs to do. ;-)
i am really finding it very to hard digest when some movie becomes a hit, immediately people connect IR and his BGM's with the success. (i am not denying that IR is not worth for that kind of praise)...but what I am trying to say is that BGM alone is not enough for success. if IR's bgm was so powerful, then what about karisal kattu poovae, HR? etc...
i am just trying to imply that for a commercial success bgm alone is not enough.
MS,
thanks a lot for the email. points well taken. got stuck with the work. I will email later. (naveen manipaaraga...:-)

Hi,
I recently got a original Video Casette of HEY RAM (Hindi) from my friend. Its released by B4U and some other company (I forgot) together. I will be having this cassette for sometime with me. I tried recording some BGM's which I thought was good. I recorded (through a cable connected from my VCR's Audio out (Stereo) to my Audio system's AUX port) the title & some of the scenes. In general the BGM of the movie is good. There are some scenes where the BGM is excellent and one or two scenes where its typical IR'ish (and good too). Also, I felt that in some places there could have been some BGM (strictly IMO, I maybe wrong)
IMO, I found certain things as a drawback (in recording quality) in the BGM.
1) The loudness/volume of the BGM was a low in most of the places that it does not make much of an impact. I agree that it should not be loud to spoil the going. As such, in general, the characteristics (as per my listening observation) of a symphony is that it goes high & low). I had to listen so carefully (in my recorded tape) to make out what instruments was playing.
2) I felt that the overall quality of sound, though good was not very clear. In places where the voilin/cello/voila/trumpet combination picks up (in tense situatios), thought the volume is not loud, it is not clear. For this kind of grand BGM, if the quality is very good, you can enjoy it doubly.
RAAJANGAHM, is it possible to pass on the information that while releasing the BGM for HEY RAM, they make sure that the quality is upto a very good standard. While typing this, I am listening to some western classical piece (dont know which one, dont ask me :-)) on the FM. Its very good recording. I dont know if its possible to get this kind of recording, but for the symphony BGM, the recording should be very good.
BTW, do you know who is going to release the BGM?
BTW, following are the places I felt the BGM is very good.
1) Title
2) Right from the moment when Kamal enters his house and gets hit, particularly, when he comes back to see his wife instead of following the guys to take revenge. The BGM is very good till he sees the little girl. The only bad part as I said was that it was very low in volume.
3) When he sees a man killed under the elephant. Its very good here aswell.
I watched the movie only till this point. But I know there are lot more places where it is good (as i have already seen the movie in Tamil).
RAAJANGAHM, is it also possible for you to upload (either sample or complete) the famous title BGM (I think it comes in the end) of DEVADHAI. Its really too good.
Thanks,
Krishnan

Folks!
There's a Q & A part in Dinakaran with Sethu Vikram. This one is interesting:
Q: IR patRi ungaL karuththu enna? ungaL padaththukku avarai sibarisu seiveergaLa?
(Name of the person who asked this stupidest question is not given)
A: avar oru mEdhai. avaraippOndRa oru periyavarukku yArAvadhu sibarisu seyya vEndum endRu neengaL ninaikkiReerkaLa? nAn nadikkum sAmurAi, vikadan, Athi Agiya 3 padangaLukku avar dhAn isai amaikkiRar
(quite a level headed reply; but is the last statement true?)

Swami,
Thanks for the link.
The site, though is a good attempt, has a language tone that is quite informal for a subject of this nature and dotted with punctuation errors: Sample this:
..a "Wonder" poet, who wrote 1000's of poems within a remarkable period of time.
I wish the MUSIC link worked though. Hopefully when it does, it showcases some BGM pieces from the film.

Visiri,
that is what I was trying to say earlier. even Panju Arunachalam has realised that he has to sought after different MD to make some money. :-)

Panchu has earlier used Karthick Raja for his Vijaykanth starrer 'Alexander'.
That was supposed to be KR's grand entry into TFM but 'maaNikkam' beat it to the theatres.
Nothing worng with YSR. Looks like Sunthar C. has developed an afinity to YSR.

NagaS,
That's great News. Thanks.
For those who couldn't access the Tamil site:
IR is scoring music for the remake of 'VAsanthiyum, Lakshmiyum Pinne Nyanum', a Malayalam film that was a big sucecss last year. It had some melodious music (it fetched MGSreekumar his National award, I think). And the hero, 'Kalabhavan' MaNi had done a good job. He plays a blind man and hardly shows his pupils in the entire film!!! (I saw a couple of scenes on TV, everything was so natural and lyrical..).
I was happy to read that IR has roped in 'Karisal' Ki. Raja Narayanan to pen the dialogues. Looks like it's going to be a milestone score, considering the MD's enthusiasm.

what gives us optimism reg. such films is the fact that they are being remade from malayalam and IR is doinga good job there these days.

Neels., You are right. MGS got the national award for a song in that movie., Also., Kalabhavan MaNi got best Acter - Special Award. !
However, I am not sure whether IR scored music for its Mallu version., :-)
