It seems IR and Rajasekharan had a boathouse camp in Kerala where they came up with the music. it is pentadreams venture. so is there any chance audio clips of it would be on numtv?

Athi,
In my opinion i think Sethu would have
gotten response from the public whether it had music by Deva or ARR cos it had a good story line and direction.
Sethu music never soared as high as HR.Can you compare first day sales of Sethu with HR's first day sales?
There are humpty number of movies where IR's music was past beyond the movie's defects...one clean example is "devathai" by Nasser. IR"s muisc was past beyond compare than other MD's. But that movie wasn't a hit.
So what I am trying to say is, once upon a time there were movies which were running just for the sake of IR. but now it is gone. Whether IR gives his best or not....other criteria's (like direction, story line etc) are proving to be a major point in the success of a movie.
Now in this regard, ARR,Deva and others add their contribution to the profit of the movies with their popularity among the public. Audio rights for ARR goes beyond 1 crore for a movie. Is it the same for IR now??
Tenali fails or not, noone will blame the music direction for the failure of a movie. It can be an accessory alone not a main feature.

Krishnan,
The link to the songs from Symphony always display a 'page not found error'.
Is this piece available elsewhere?

Neels, I just tried the link I gave and it worked for me. Maybe there was some problem when you tried. Anyway, if you are not able to get to the site by that link, try going to http://www.swara.com , page down and then click "Sooryodhayam" in COMPOSER'S CHOICE section. You should be able to get there.
Have a GOOD DAY guys !!

Bug,
One thing is clear, you consider movies
with IR as MD special and expect them to
run just for his music while for movies with
ARR as MD for eg, the music is not important
eventhough ARR gets paid in crores which IR
doesn't get.
Can you make out some sort of
contradiction in your own statements?
When Tenali fails, noone( meaning you) will
blame music direction for the failure
according to you while for Hey Ram's failure, the music direction is being blamed(by you again). Is it not being biased?
What if Tenali's cassette sales also
are disappointing along with the movie
failing? In fact many of ARR's recent
works like AP, KKKK also belong to
the same category where the cassette sales
barely reached the expected levels. Atleast
I never read anything in the press about
any record nos for these albums. And it is
very well known that the press loves to hype
up anything about ARR.
And bug, you seem to be a die hard fan
of ARR who wants to glorify him or a die
hard fan of IR who is frustrated about the fact
that the likes of ARR are getting paid in
crores for blatant plagiarising and expressing
it in the form of blaming IR for the movies
that fail in his music.
MS, I am doing fine. Thanks for your
enquiry. Why was the word old included
in the enquiry ??!!!

Prakash is right., Suryodhayam is the old 'Isaip payaNam' which is still under production I beleieve. Vijayashanthi is there in the lead and IR is NOT the MD.

Yeah folks, Suryodhayam is not by IR, a new comer (forgot his name). His interview on this symphony had once appeared in Music World magazine of www.intamm.com. Search the archives in this site (3-4 months back).

Athi,
i am think my statements are being misunderstood.IR is not the reason for faliure for HR.
What I am trying to say is when the producers make a movie they try to get profit from/utilising all aspects of the movie. one of them is the music.they pay more to get successful MD's so that they can get back the returns with the audio sales.
in the present day nobody points out a MD for the failure of a film while there were many films which were successful only because of IR(mohan movies). In those periods music was attributed mainly to a success of the film. Now the trend has changed.
there aren't any movies which ran only for the sake of ARR or Deva. cos people expect more nowadays.
so what i am trying to say is that producers try to get a collective profit from making a movie. they employ the cheapest xerox MD to get the music for the film and get more returns. bigger producers employ ARR to get more returns along with other success of the movie.
I am not a fan or IR or ARR. just a normal "music lover paamaran" that's it. I am not spilling out venoms against any MD or something like that.

hai bug,
it seems that you viewed sethu as just another good film you forgot IR scores best for the situations all the song situatins before the
pandi ashramam were just as simple i mean the songs doesnt needed a lift till then .(also i always thought that unni, and some new singers coudnt give the support a raja song needed) but from the first seen after that in the pandi ashramam oh what a lift bala himself has wholeheartedly agreed this in his interview in indian express it continued till the film ends with the mind blowing 'vaarthai thavarivitai' also
remember raja does not always compromise with commercial profits neither do i think that sethu producer wanted to make a commercial film we all
know sethu is commercially succesful art film, so please understand the scenario before making such statements no hard fellings friend you just have raised a doubt i think i've clarified it

Dear Amal Raj and others, though I don't get to watch films frequently these days, I managed to watch "Sethu" a month back - the BGM was so intense that it took me three days to recover from that ! This perhaps is the reason why people nowadays prefer ARR or Deva to IR - listen to the music which is mostly eminently forgettable - but with IR, the story is different altogether - when you are closeted in the cinema hall for two and half hours, the BGM itself can have such a riveting impact on you, you cannot come out of the hall without the music having settled in deep 'within' you completely - in these days, most of the people have an "easy going" attitude - they don't want serious music - hence, IR's music is not selling

IR's Kochu Kochu Santoshangal is the No.1 in the Top10 malayalam albums. Good music rules...
