Ragapriyan,
I'm no Kamban in Thamizh, but if someone relied on my singing on a professional level, and paid me money for it, I will work my tail off and practice my pronunciation until there were no embarassments. How we speak Thamizh is not a criteria to judge how well an allegedly professional singer pronounces Thamizh.

Guys,
I like to know if CDs/Tapes with just music for IR's songs is available for Karoake singing. I am intereted in singing and recording songs of IR/ARR. If I have just the music alone without the original voices then I will be able to use it.
Please suggest any alternatives, even if, CDs/tapes are not available for Karoake recordings.

Vijay,
It is not Vasundhara das but Udit Narayan who takes the Tamil-murder to a even greater level.
mullai mullaal edupadhu pol..kaadhal thee vaalga..
sounds absolutely yucky.
And here is a differnt version on the Rhythm cassette sales affair

"Superby synaesthetic", says rediff about Rythm music. Whatever that means, it gives a rave review of the music. After listening to it a few times I kind of agree with it. Check out the uRL:

This is news on Sep 1st, the latest one about the 3-lakh sale is on Sep 7th. Obviously the Sep 1st item was premature, I would guess.

rediff's above column says:
"For his part, Vasanth has a penchant for having good music in his films -- Ilayaraja in Nee Paathi Naan Paathi"
..and it is wrong. It was scored by maragathamani. (Nivetha is a beautiful song.)

MS, even I noticed that. Then I consoled myself that the reviewer must have got confused with the song in "Keladi Kanmani" and the movie "NPNP" or joined both of them :-).
"Nivetha" is a good song indeed.

MS.,
If rediff says IR is the MD for NPNP, I won't be surprised. Aren't they the same guys who said Kamal hasn't sung in movies for the past 20 years ? :-)
SL., 'Kaalam ULLa varai' is by SPB and KSChitra.,

SUN TV featured a programme 'Rhythm - oru kannottam' yesterday. I have been wondering how Vasanth is going to picturise the 'five elements songs'. From the clips I have seen, I'm impressed.
1. 'kaatre en vaasal' - taken in a desert on Arjun & Jyothika. Obviously a dream song.
2. 'thaniye' - street dance type song. Shankar Mahadevan himself starts off the song. Ragavendra prasad (PD's brother) also dances.
3. 'ayya pathikichu' - a stage show kind. Taken on Raju sundaram & Ramya, with 'thee panthams' all around.
4. 'dheemthananaa' - pretty good camera work around some falls (where is it?). Arjun looks like a photographer relishing the scenes around him.
The sky song wasn't shown. May be its for Meena.
Camera has been handled by a debutant, Vinod (apparently Santhosh sivan's associate)

Hi Guys,
Look at www.tamilcinema.com/
in the seythi thuligal section.
Rahman has been offered 300 crores for composing for a drama based on Shakesphere's life story.
It's going to be staged in a mega hall in London.
Rahman is doing a research in all London villages to get a feel of the kind of music during that period to have some origanility.
Hats off to ARR for carrying the Indian flag to great success.
Maybe, had IR been more lucky, he would 've got similar offers.
Sridhar.

I saw this in tamil indiainfo too.. kind of shaky story. which movie/drama is it? who is doing it? Why rahman for a music on english contry side stuff?.
And 300 crores is too heavy imagination, it amounts to $66 million. Thats a salary, even bruce willis or al pacino would only dream for. Remember, even Night shyamalan after proving himself in a bigbang gets only a contract of 10 million.
I think they got confused with the budget. If this is the andrew loyld webber's project, his movies's budjet is only 50 or 55 million (like a any average hollywood flick ..look in imdb.com ). How they would pay such a sum for alien newcomer, who hasnt proved his worth abroad.
Tamil web journalism has become a joke with likes of tamil rediff. It all takes a html page to put up a news update, no confirmation, information gathering.
Anyway, it look like he got a interesting project let him work on it, for this news to become realy true someday.

"Your theme music for Deepa's 1947 reminded me of Maurice Jarre.
Thanks. You know, I met composer John Barry last month. He was quite a nice person. He might be attending one of my concerts soon. But coming back to Water, the music is devotional. And every devotional is a love song. You can hear the love even without the words expressing it. The music has a sense of longing about it. You just have to hear it to know what it is.
"
ARR conveniently evaded the question and I think perhaps he took it as a compliment.
If Water is even as good as a couple of numbers in Earth it would be a heck of ana album. The theme in Earth blows u off your feet.

i think subash k jha was saying it 'reminded' him of maurice jarre. doesnt ever mean its a copy. it's the similar kind of music, the genre which he's talking about. considering the stature of maurice jarre in world music, its defenitely a compliment. where's the need to be evasive about it??

Maurice Jarre in World Music. Isn't he a movie score composer ? Karthik, are you purposely misleading peole or is this your understanding ?Also, why ARR did not answer the question fully, except the 'Thanks' and totally jumping to another topic. Inspite of his unique style in indian film music this is what bothers me about ARR - I just cannot seem to trust his integrity fully.
