Though this thread is for IR's new releases, I couldn't help butt in and share my enthusiasm in listening to a new instrumental album of IR's 'AsthAna Violin vidwAn', V. S. Narasimhan, whose contribution to HTNI and NBW has been tremendous.

I have uploaded a stunning composition from the album, "Resonance":
The album is very unique.. no rhythmic instruments, no synthesizers. Just pure strings.

To be serious., 'Barathi' is a film Directed by Gnana. Rajasekaran on the life of Mahakavi. Subramania Bharathi. IR is the MD and this has nothing to do with the other (Bharathi)Raja.

mmmm....so you are one of those guys who think cinema is just for commercial fun and joy, nothing wrong in it but dont think everyone in the industry is like you a film with
good story and reasonable screenplay, is always welcomed by people. dont you know that sethu was a true story and one of the friends of sethu was the character of dir bala .there were lots of feelings in the film other than commercial attitude.and only IR can express human feelings with his music.are you finding hard to digest dont worry you'll NEVER UNDERSTAND until you know there are lots more in cinema than just fun and joy

May be ARR who supposedly never hears IR's
music, would have liked to give such a news
about Kamal singing after 20 years. It is
all part of ARR's marketing gimmicks I
guess and ofcourse sites like rediff get
excited about whatever he does and carry
such articles.

It surprises me that the rediff guys
have never heard Hey Ram songs even before
reporting like that.

Something has to be done about this
rediff southern film news which has
turned out to be real joke. May be
this section is edited by DSR the famous
ex film reviewer of Hindu.

Don't take bug's statements too seriously.
He has expressed happiness that Panju Arunachalam has opted for YSR instead of IR as IR is not

I think I know the person (I have his mail id also) who is writing the Tamil Cinema News in Rediff., It is not DSR., ;-) It seems he works for Rediff English edition and he is working 50% on the Rediff Tamil Edition.
Looking at the way he is writing and the Details(??!!) he is giving as Bonus., I think he was there in Tamilnadu some 15 years back and then left forever., Eethoo Tamil theriyumnnu avarai ezutha vechchuttaanga polirukku. Paavam, ARuththuth thaLLaRaar., :-) NOM.,

bArathi is a real class album from rAjA.

niRpadhuvE nadappadhuvE en kAdhugaLai vittu agalavillai.

The new singers have sung well. sila idangaLil ucharippu pizhai iundhAlum nandRAgavE pAdiyuLLanar.

Orchestration-i kuRaithu melody-kku mukkiyathuvam koduthu isai amaithuLLar rAjA.

pAdal varigaLum sugamAnavai. Good choice of bharathiyAr songs. ninnai saraNadaindhEn - like a summary of all kaNNammA songs. akkinik kunjondRu - bArathi's uNardhi vEgam. vandhE mAtaram, bAradha samudAyam - very good choice of songs.

rAjA could have avoided bavadhArini but she is OK not too bad.

The only dhrishti parihAram is the song 'mayil pOla poNNu oNNu' (by bhavadhArini) - awful lyrics by mu.mEthA. bArathi patRiya padathil ippadippatta cinema kochai pOttu oru pAdal thEvaiyA ? mayil, kuyil, kiLi, poNNu - ella cinema kochaiyum irukkiRadhu. kEtkavE nArAsamaha irukkiradhu. If this song were in any other film I wouldn't care. But not in a bArathi film. I can't imagine the situation for this song - sellammAl singing this song. appadippatta kodumai padathil irukkakkoodAdhu endRu vENdikkoLgiREn.

Also my preference would be to use only bArathi songs in this film. No pulamaipithan etc. bArathi should not be made to mouth other people's words.

But this album is an excellent album. I have this on cassette and I am going to get a CD when it arrives in US.
