Greatest Contribution of Ilayaraja to TFM

What is Contribution? It means doing some thing that has never been done before. Or playing a significant role. In Thamizh, the word that comes to mind is "puratchi."
I believe every aspect of our great Isai Gnani has been explored in this forum except for a particular genre of songs. In this particular kind of songs, Ilayaraja is the mudisoodaa mannan. No one from MSV, KVM, ARR can touch Ilayaraja in this matter.

Okay, enough of this, let me get to the matter at hand. I urge all Fans, Fanatics, Dissenters and everyone else to contribute to this thread. Let me do the Pillayar Suzhi:

1. Nethu rathiri yemma (ursurpassed description of what happened)
2. Nilaa kaayuthu (who would have thought that munungals can be put to tune)
3. Antha nilavathaan naa kaiyule pudichen (by the master himself)
4. Eduthu vach paalum virichu vacha paayum (if music can be sexy, this is it)
5. Maaman oru naal malliyapoo koduthaan (innocent but deadly)
6. Orampo orampo rukkumani vandi varuthu (no doublespeak here - every thing is direct)
7. Raathiriyil poothirukkum (what a romatic song!)
8. Vaada vaattuthu (yet another masterpiece by the master himself)

  What do you hope to do by this listing exercise. If you are genuine, you will take it off the board. However if your intention is to give another "lecture," then I am loss for words. :)
  
  If you put Tamil songs through a sieve more than half would not pass through.
  BUT, and that is a big BUT, in the examples given by Gowri above, the crass content is very apparent and stares right at your face.
  Only that you won't be honest enough to admit it, because you are a HCIRF in disguise. :)

  Nice work! But ( note for ROTFL, this is not a big BUT, but a small but... ) these guys wont agree that these songs have same kind of content what the topic says! U have missed some great songs like, "Kattipudi kattipudidaa", "Iduppu adikkadi thudikkuthu", "Ethukku pondaati, enna sutthi vappaati", "Raakozhi rendu muzhichirukku", "sukam, sukam athu vaendum", "Eppadi eppadi ...... eppadi", "Metro channel enna paaru", "kurukku sirutthavalae( adadaaaa, enna oru kavitthuvam niraintha paadal...), "aadaludan paadalai kaettu", "Javvaadhu maedai ittu", etc., etc.,
  ROTFL, yes, i agree that the songs that are listed by gowri HAVE A CRASS CONTENT THAT IS VERY APPARENT & STARES RIGHT AT UR FACE, but many of the songs listed by TZ are like Pasutthol portthiya puli!!! eppidi irunthaalum Puli, puli thaanga sir:) One way or other, we need to appreciate urs, gowri's, whynot's and all other HCARRF's terminlogies by telling all these songs as HIGHLY SUGGESTIVE, QUITE ACCEPTABLE etc., etc., IMHO, it's better to have a song that gives the meaning straight rather than having nonsense in the middle of a nice song!!!!! By this way, u can completely avoid hearing those songs!

  Only the numbers have been much smaller.
  
  As ROTFL rightly said, many Tamil songs have double meanings. Many will fail, if put through a stringent test.
  
  However from the 90s these kind of songs have reduced in number comparatively and even Ilayaraja himself has limited the numbers now.

And ofcourse, if u compare the current songs, the percentage could be more or atleast the same. Then, what's the difference, gowri? :) No wonder, if someone starts a thread that says " GREATEST CONTRIBUTION OF TFM TO INDIAN CINEMA is VULGARITY"......

Kamadhenu neenga virumbiyathu ellaam kodukkum. Neengal athanidam irunthu peruvathu, neengal ethai kaetteerkal enpathai porutthu irukkirathu. Enna gowri purikirathaa???
  Dont come for another fight like "How come u can compare IR with kamadhenu?" It's just to illustrate the fact...:)

  Happened to read in kumudam reg GEMINI songs. Enna theiveegamaana varigal theriyumaa? Especially in the songs gemini gemini and thillaalangadi.... Virasam enbathin ucchatthirku poyirukkiraar paadal aasiyiriyar!!!! Vaazhga vairamutthu.....Ithu ponra aatkalai vaitthu kondu, neengal IR-i kutram sollum pothu sirippu thaan varukirathu....
