DDD is a good album by KR after a long time, I guess. Definitely worth the buy. Ragasimay... and Un Perai sonnaley are the pick of the album... rest are also okay...

"Ragasimay... and Un Perai sonnaley are the pick of the album" Saketh, you must be a ARR fan :) I can tell.
BTW, listen to suRRum bhuumi..POP does not have an existence by itself..relies on other original genres like Rock, Country, R&B etc.. I prefer Rock and both KR and YSR these days seem to be listening to Rock more and more !!. (Must be dads suggestion :) )

A great album from KR. Ragasiyamai is awesome. Other songs are also very good. I would rate it the best of this year.

Review of DDD in The Music Magazine, with one factual error!
http://www.themusicmagazine.com/dumdumdum.html
The error IMHO...
Maniratnam's production house was never ever Rahman's domain. It was ONLY Mani's own directorial ventures.
Mani's productions, whether out of Aalayam or Madras Talkies Rahman hasnt scored music for a single movie which did not have Mani as the director.
Aalayam's first non-Mani movie was Dasarathan, starring Sharath Kumar and Heera, directed by Raja Krishnamurthy. Music was by L Vaidyanathan (or was it L Subramaniam?).
Next non-Mani movie was Aasai (under Aalayam) amd the next was Merukku Ner, both directed by K Balachander's former assistant, Vansanth. Music for both was by Deva.
This one is the first non-Mani directed movie and under the new banner Madras Talkies (after Alai Payuthey).
So Rahman was never in the fray.

You don't have to get paranoid Karthik. The author wanted to say Karthik Raja has a made a mark out of all MD's who have scored for Mani's productions (sans IR).

KR and YSR have been listening to too much COLONIAL COUSINS & THE WAY WE DO IT by Hari & Lezz.... This is reflecting in too much remeniscence of those albums in their Dum Dum Dum and Thulluvadho Ilamai.........

Trend:
Have you heard Track 7 in YSR's TI? It's been too inspired by Angel in Colonial Cousins, especially the bit 'and my love for you can always be true and my love for you, Angel....' He has mix-mashed other stuff around it and used Madhyamavathi Ragam predominently, but that bit really is a life....
KR on the other hand has lifted from the newer Hari/Lezz album, Way we do it.... Especially the guitar riffs - I will get back to you with the exact track....

Dumm dumm dumm is a excellent album.Particularly the number ragasiyamai, the violin part being the best. However the visualisation wasnt that good.So the song may not reach as it should have

just saw this page for KR. Out of the many review only one person seemed to go all out to say Krishna Krishna is the best number in the album. Actually you all should listen to it again. It is a rare composition not ever attempted even by KR's dad. look at the scale, it is a very complicated composition for a much more discerning listener. in fact, i have only heard Krishna Krishna type of melody structure on some rare latin american numbers. I thought such music usually coming from the west is long since dead, now I see KR coming up with really preppy numbers with excellent structure as in Hello Mr. Kadhala (a little overdone), Laila Laila and now in Krishna, Krishna.
Western pop is not dead. It is resurrecting on a grand scale through KR. long live.
