  my point was a follow up to CF's point that sometimes we feel dissapointed when ARR's songs do not get picturized properly! it is just a statement and not an argument to counter anyones point!
  
  My point simply stated:
  
  when I buy a tape/CD and hear the songs b4 seeing the actual videos, I imagine that the movie director wud put a good effort to do justice to the song and I feel let down when he just messes it up with average thinking.
  
  That is all. No IR/ARR comparison! just a simple statement.
  
  Now as to why it merited a

  when i never said anything abt these specific songs is baffling. and more baffling is

  which I do not even understand what it contends. I never said AN songs had promos advantage or it was inferior to the movies I listed. So what is the extent to which the :-)@cisco.b'lore guy can go to misinterpret my statement.
  
  He pulls in an irrelevant comparison abt promos! Just shows the prejudice that persists.

  The songs required suble picturization - not because of the songs, but because of the movie. And the songs were scored to suit subtle picturization so that it would fit in the movie...
  
  BTW IMHO, liricist plays a major role in this 'songs should fit the movie' thing..
  
  Bottom line: songs should be scored for the movie flow (if at all they are needed). The director knows (well, he should) what kind of song he wants and how it should be picturized to bring out the right emotion for the situation, even before he sits with the MD (like the hero throws himself on the burning national flag to put out the fire in 'Roja').
  So, the song should fit the picturization (MD's responsibility) and when it happens the other way around, its a music video and (the song) shouldn't even be in the movie....

  i did understand that! but the example u gave was for a song that met the requirements!
  
  we were speaking about the songs that somehow dont meet the requirements , like even if there r songs that neednt be there in the first place( now! to be or not to be is another big digression so lets not delve into that) the director can atleast satiate the people with a impressinable music video!
  
  It is worse to ask for a song that not needed in the first place and then show even further incomptence by picturizing it badly. Its like displaying various areas where the director can muck up! (eg tajmahal, taal)
  
  Next is to get songs that suit the flow of the movie very well but botch up the picturization by over doing it or as usual not meeting min. expectations (eg 1947 earth)
  
  mudhal mariyadai and roja had songs just abt right and picturized just abt right those r e.g of perfection . A far cry from the list i was showing!

  The most sodappal of all picturised ARR's song in my opinion is "Netru illadha maatram" from pudhiya mugham. The flow of the song is really unimaginable...agreed. That flute and sitar in that song is really great. But the revathi's purusan let every thing down. In the song he will lean over a tree. It will be like a corpse falling towards a tree.
  
  I heard the whole album and this perticular song for more that 300 time (should be more than this) I think. There were no promos for it in TV or radio. Many didn't know that such a film song is released at that time. I formed my own imagination about the picturisation about the song and my imagination was crossing all boundries. I was taken aghast when I saw the song in TV after some 5 months. I will never forget that disappointment -- in life.
