  I am currently hooked on to Barathy songs-the feature that strikes me is the sense of melancholy throghout-my favorite is Nirpadhuve.

  Songs are not bad. Melody is good.
  It is amazing that how IR manages to come up with good melodies in these ARR Era. I mean he is still better than other MDS. But...

  eden, even I was heavily impressed by "ninnai charan..". I also liked "Edhilum ingu...". The tune, orchestration & Madhu Balakrishnan's voice is just great. Did you listen to that? I feel you will like it.

  Listening to all the bharathi songs and illayavan songs, I feel that IR has not lost anything - He is his own self.
  
  BTW, for those who have been arguing that his songs doesnt sell anymore I have a question- How is that he keeps getting projects still - and there is so much news about him on new projects - The "Vasanthiyum, Lakshmiyum, pinne Nyanum",the pentafour projects, the BR,VM and IR projects and lot others if you follow the links given above.

  As u have put it, our expectation from IR keeps on increasing because of his latest melodies in Karisal kaattu poove, Sethu,Hey Ram and Bharathy.
  Chittana song in Sethu is an exceptioanal song sung by Unni Krishnan.

  Let us not be so harsh on Mr.jj. jj, being an ARR fan has given a very biased comment inspite of listening to Raaja's melodies from Bharathy,Kanna Unai thedugiren and Sethu. So it is better that we neglect his preposterous comments.

  Song is so nicely set to nadanamakriya/mayamalawagowlai,
  
  I also observed the following at first go:
  
  Very good flute parts - placed very well, Especially over the first few lines of the saranam.
  The Sandam for these first few lines of the Saranam resembles "thogai ilamaiyel",
  Good beat pattern for the pallavi.
  
  Finally song has a great depth in the score. After a long time - I liked the song more than the BGM - It is nothing but Music!
  
  Man is still around, can do some great work, if he wishes. Can someone here trigger him instead of fighting for him.
