Srikanth..its okay .I'm cool.
Anyway, this indirectly made me concentrate on my work :) Gotta do that too :)
This is supposed to be our fav pasttime - talking about songs. I dont know why people take these things to heart and go to the extent of sending hate mails. Its too disappointing.
Let the party continue !!!

Hey everybody,
This forum seems to discuss film music as an Album but i dont think so(its my humble opinion)but of course almost all the MD's do it like a album except very few.
But plz do understand that the music has been composed for the situations in the film and not for your personal tastes the songs has to match the situations and sink in the film ofcourse some MD's overlook this for name and money.
But before seeing HeyRam everyone is dicussing about its presentations. So plz listen to the songs till u see the film and tell ur comments. I BET U THE SONGS WILL BE AT ITS BEST WHEN U SEE THE FILM. I AGAIN REPEAT FILM MUSIC IS DIFFERENT FROM ALBUMS IT WONT APPEAL U AT FIRST SIGHT GOTO A CINEMA WHERE HEYRAM GETS RELEASED...SEE THE FILM AND WRITE ME.
Regards ,
Anandkumar.
For the ones who go gaga about latest IR's songs plz see Sethu and see how much the songs aptly suits the situations Hey none can replace IR man he is the Emperor and he will prove it with Hey Ram.....so plz wait for the film to see it yourself

Sirkanth:
After my critical review on ARR's Muthalvan, I was threatened by a poster called "IR" in DFad :-).Just ignore them, once the energy is out the dins will fade and finally cease. Just give your reviews from an unbiased point of view so that it helps those who read it to decide on whether to buy the album or not .
Regards
MS

Paamaran,
Thanx for keeping names like narathar, lakshmanar, etc. why dont u write something more useful so that everone can read and appreciate? I was the one actually trying to stop the personal attacks. U know who started all this.

I do agree with Ananda kumar. The songs in sethu are so apt that they never irritate you and they just merge with the movie. Sethu is a class movie with brilliant involvement from everybody concerned.Different experience indeed!
Well we seem to forget that we are talking about tfm but not about albums
Srikanth:BRAVO!

After listening to the first ong i ca't help but admire kamal's talents. Even professional singers sometime struggle when singing in higher octaves, kamal has delivered the high-pitched rendition that too with well suited gamakas. I have always been impressed by his rendition in 'sundari neeyum'. He seems to get the gamakas effortlessly.

Friends,
After a fresh listening to HR (Hindi version), I have the following come to my mind immediately :
1.HR is supposed to be a period film, right ? the movie according to Kamal himself travels from the 1940s to the 1990s - if that were the case, why is that the title score "Hey Ram" have synth, instead of instruments more natural which would have been reflective of the 40s or 50s ? Agreed that the song itself is awesome, but, when I see it from the context of the film, this question does arise in my mind - of course, I could be mistaken - that song may not be the title song and may come towards the end .
2.The song by Asha Bhosle and Hariharan, has pulled me into a whirlpool of eclectic ecstacy !! THis is what I (or should I say we) have been waiting for IR to give for such a long time - yet again I have this question - if this song comes in a situation set in the 40s-50s, was such usage of piano prevalent /prominent in those days ? leave alone the piano - the way it has been used, it is so Paul Mauriatish or Richard Claydermanish - Yes, it is of course saturated in melody, but does it reflect the time which the situation portrays ?
3.The song by Nirupama Deshpande is a pukka Marathi lavani song - IR showing his mettle in adapting to the needs of the situation - as for the final WEstern classical piece - if IR has been inspired by the sequence to give a piece like that, then the sequence ought to be very very special !
4.SLokam + letter reading - can't say anything - but I wonder why it should find a place in the audio album ?!
5.The 'jolly' song by Kamal, Jolly Mukherjee - sounds OK, but why use synth. when the song is meant for a period movie ?!
6.There is the Hindi version of the Marathi lavani song - ditto the earlier one, 7.vaishnava Janatho - something odd about Vibha Sharma's voice - but song purely situational and "vaaranamayiram" retained with a native touch / flavor - but I don't know how the audience in the North is going to reflect to such long usage of Tamil lyrics in a Hindi album ! 8. The las t song by Ajoy Chakraborty - friends, if you ahve not listened the great Hemant Kumar Mukherjee of yesteryear Hindi cinema, this artiste's voice comes close to his- the usage of the brighas are very very well conceived and rendered - the song itself is apt without any jarring use of synthesizers - it would get a good review by elitist newspapers, but how well it would go with the masses is ver difficlut to guess /portend - but this song again proves IR's ability to adapt to any demands in music - overall this album is IR at his best, more so, considering that he had to compose songs for which picturisation has already been done !!

Srikanth,
Sorry if my posting had hurt you. I just got carried away after seeing your distinctly different (in my opinion biased) review of HR. But I too strongly condemn those who send bad / private e-mails.
As you had mentioned in one of your mails earlier this forum is an open one - AND IS NOT OWNED BY JUST A SMALL GROUP - just because they got into this very early. With this in mind, I would request you to avoid phrases 'who are these elements' etc. ( I hope you meant only the anonymous e-mailers and not the people who use this forum).
Cheers !

Frankly I was disturbed by the way Ajoy Chakraborthy was used in the Hey Ram song. I have only heard the thamizh version (isaiyinil??). Ajoy is a fantastic melody and light classical singer and I somehow felt that the song was composed for a scale which was in the extremes of Ajoy's range. An example was if SPB's intro song was 'thanga thaamarai magaLEy' - people would have thought that SPB is chennai's answer to RDB (or worse Narinder Chanchal). Just my thoughts. I know IR has forgotten more music than I will ever know!!!!
