The topic just said 'one great song' without any specifications. But almost all the songs that have been listed so far have been gems of IR! i just wonder why ARR enthusiasts keep away from this. Or is it too much for their conscience to handle?-))

"Kaadhla Rojavae..." or "Porale Ponnu thai.."

Its like 50/50. I am not able to decide.I guess they are equally good as any best IR songs.(Any bashers??)

'nALai intha vELai' - uyarnthan manithan

Excellent melody, orchestration (esp. second interlude, though short but sweet),lyrics and rendering (the words that PS delivers with an accent to resonate with the notes of the tune , 'sol...la..van...tha.. nE..rathil' ,is just amazing).

i agree with you on kaadhal rojave! i think it ought to be one of the best. Porale ponnuththayi is also good but IMO its not the best. I like uyirum neeye from pavithra also very much. But i wonder if they can make anywhere near the list of alltime greats. however, i feel kadhal rojave should defenitely qualify!

excellent song 'nAlai indha..'Thanx for reminding about the gem. shd go and listen to it tonight! thinking of golden oldies, "ponnezhil pooththadhu puthu vAnil" (i think its some MGR movie) is a masterpiece. (incedentally its the fav song of Devaji it seems!)

To be objective, I'm listing my most fav songs from MD's other than IR:
GKV - Then sindhudhe vaanam (Ponnukku thanga manasu?)
KVM - Ondre kulamendru paaduvom (Pallandu Vaazhga)
MSV - Just one is difficult, still I would vote for `Rajavin paarvai' (Anbe Vaa) & Engeyum eppodhum (N Inikkum)
MSV-TKR - `Kodi asaindhadhum' (P Pasi theerum)
SG - Unnai naan paarthadhu (Pattikkattu Raja); a close one is `Poovinum melliya poonkodi'
ARR - Kannalane (Mumbai, sorry, Bombay)
