vani jayaram: her film songs and their ragas

Among female play-back singers, vani jayaram is my favourite. Her voice is so sweet and so distinct.
Almost all of her songs are superhits.
I would really appreciate if someone could tell me the RAGAM on which the following songs of vani jayaram are based:

1. "Malligai en mannan mayangum" (from Dheerga sumangali, her second favourite song of hers; the first one, she said, is some oriya song?)

2. 'En vullam azhagaana vellithirai"
3. "megame megame,paal nilaa thedhudhe" (paalai vana cholai)
4. "Ezhu swarangalukkul etthanai paadal" ( what a song!!! i know it is mostly based on Panthuvarali; but i hear there are traces of other ragas also in this song; this song, which won her national award, is her favourite song of hers)
5. kelviyin naayagane, en kelviggu padil edhaiyaa?

  the personal life of a person.
  indeed the letter was too harsh about a legendary
  singer.
  the fact could not be denied that she was fine

  Not only till 1982 - till 1993 i think - lekin,rudaali,ghazlas,bhajans,and many songs that were good. And Lata was FABULOUS not just fine - thats why she got Bharat Ratna!!

  It is foolish to compare one artist with another.Each artist is distinct and unique.There is no meaning in comparing Lata with Vani or somebody else.Both are good in their own way.I like Lata's many songs but my favourite singer is Vani Jairam.Vani may be one of the rare artists who has worked with almost all estsblished music directors in India. She did not reach the top probably because she does not know the politics of film world.Some of her best songs are in malayalam.Lata has sung only one song in malayalam for Salil Chaudary.Lata litterally killed the lyric.She could not pronounce even one word properly.She spoiled a beautiful melody of Salil Chaudary.That may be the reason Salil Chaudary never gave her another chance in malayalam though he composed music for nearly 50 films in malayalam.Asha also sang one song in malayalam for Ravindra Jain.She also faced the same situation but performed better than Lata.In the same film Hemalata also sang one song.She did a good job.Vani's GOODDI songs are well appreciated by everybody.Therefore Lata fans cannot say Vani spoiled the songs.Vani's voice is still fresh and sweet and it is very suitable for the new generation heroins whereas Lata's voice is very matured and hardly suits the new
  generation.Vani's potentials are yet to be utilised.She is sincere and outspoken.That may be the reason she is kept away from film music industry.Each person will have his/her own choice but it is not a good pracice to overestimate one and underestimate others.

  Vani can be compared to Asha because both are very versatile.Lata lacks the versatility of Asha,Janaki and Vani. Lata and Susheela belong to the same category. Both are good in some particular type of songs.Hindi people may not know the versatility of Vani as she has not sung so many songs in hindi but in south indian languages she has given so many super hits.

  I love VJS southern songs though I am a northie. But sorry, listen to her songs up North. She has murdered the Hindi bhajans of Raghunath SEth mercilessly. Her diction is poor and she is too loud and cannot convey enough bhaavam in those songs Thats why she lost out and not because she was troubled or thwarted.
  
  Moreover Lata too possesses the versatility of these singers. So does PS. Moreover Lata and PS are the sweetest singers in the world.

  Well avinash, it is wrong to compare Lata now to Vani now. Lata is 72, Vani is probably 55. Moreover Vani started singing in 1971 (at the age of say 20) whereas Lata started singing in 1942 as a professional (at the age of 12).
  
  
  Asha and Janaki are both much more versatile than Vani.
  
  Vani Jairam's Hindi pron. is very average. I will not say she killed the lyrics, but it was bad.
  
  Lata and PS are in the same league, but I dont think Vani can be put in the same league. Vani lost in HFM because of accent problem. Also she was slightly nasal and flat in her delivery

  After a long hiatus Vani Jairam has sung a few superb songs for the Kannada film "Neela" (released recently). Music is by the renowned film music director Vijayabhaskar. Have a listen. Vani Jairam is as good as ever!

  How can you people compare Vani with Lata man. Vani jayaram has given her best songs in her career and moved away allowing the younger generations to take up, which is really a good gesture.
  
  But see Lata mangeshkar, she has given her best. There is no doubt in that. But when it comes to the songs of 1990s and afterwards. It's really horrible. She literally shouts like anything, instead of singing. I really don't know how the people hear those songs. I can't even image, how can a goverment give its highest civilian awards just for a singer who has contributed nothing to this society except singing which was done to improve her career and earn more money.
  
  It is better to leave way to the youngsters as Vani Jayaram did, unless the singers are very good at their voice as well as singing capacity like S. Janaki.

  It is better not to compare an artiste with another. Lata mangeshkar is a little bit popular because she sings hindi songs which is a national language. If she had sung only the Marathi songs, then she would have not been so popular. It is very natural for a person to become more popular than his/her colleage when the former is working in the field, where the language of that field is widespread.
  Just by mere popularity we can't underestimate Vani Jayaram. Vani Jayaram has her superiority and authority in her own field where Lata could not even reach the half the ladder. So, it compensates. Vani Jayaram is such an Versatile singer that you can't just miss her songs.
  
  Comparing Lata and Vani is just like comparing a Laddu and Bhoondhi. Where, both are sweets
  but of different variety.
  
  
  
  
  By the way, I wanted to know the name of the Film in which she sung the song. Ezhu Swarngalukku .......... It's really a fantastic song. I heard it somewhere in a function. If you know please let me know the name of the film.
