The following is what i tokk from MPR'S site :
'...In a press conference yesterday given by Karthik and Yuvan shanker Raja, they said that they [Ilaiyaraaja, Karthik, and Yuvan shanker Raja] have jointly produced an album titled "nenjinilE" for a Singapore television channel. This album has 40 songs with lead models appearing. Ilaiyaraaja alone has composed 8 songs for that album and the rest are done by Karthik and Yuvan. The songs are folksy, rhythmic and melody as well, to enable Singai singers to sing along. The songs have been penned by aRivumathi, muhamad ali and iLangO.
And they also informed that they have decided to buy the rights of their father's symphony and will be released by them with lead musicians' critical reviews.....'
can MPR, or anyone, verify this news? did anyone
in Madras hear anything about raja's sons releasing the symphony?

Sabesan: In answer to your query, I listened to Kaakai Chiraginile, indeed I can see traces of the old IR in this album. It's well worth many listenings and IR has used Sindhubairavhi Ragam in a nice form after a long time - Unni's song, pity Bhava sang too! SPB's Deah number was also very nice, so was the other Simhendramadhyam number sung by SPB. The album on the whole was extremely good.
As for Nilave Mugam Kaatu, I had mentioned the music in the New TF Review in the Hub. The songs, on CD sound very 'farmiliar', he seems to use Natabairavhi a lot, like the song in Dharma, Iru Kangal, Nilave Mugam Kaatu had a very similar one, only, in the film, along with the situation, it's blends perfectly. Here's a cut and paste of my posting in the hub:
Inr Nilave Mugam Kaatru, Ilayaraja has done a wonderful job with songs for the situations - when I listened to the songs on CD, they were too 'farmiliar' sounding, the Natabairavhi e.t.c, but gelled with the film, this was totally 'fine'. IR's BGM was really apt and poignantly wonderful, where it, along with the picturisation lingers in ones mind. The story is aimed to touch one's sentimental nerves and really succeeds at doing so. The story itself is quite simple, but the
director(Mu Kalanjiyam) takes one nicely from scene to scene, not 'boring' the watcher or making them clock watch!
I'm indeed looking forward to Time and the other Nenjinile!

Ha... nice to hear that from u Geetha... one thing i can't understand about the response Bhava seems to be getting.... people either oppose her totally or support her... i think its basically the mind-set that we have on her.... like my wife always likes her voice and in fact she got immediately that it was Bhava siging when i put this song from REX site... i liked the song "Paadi thirinthathoru" and "kolakiliyeee".....
NMK i loved all the songs especially the one by Hariharan - Thendralai kandu kollu maaane and another by Chitra (am i correct) - Sutrathey bhoomi thaaiyee nillu... did not see the movie...
hello anyone in Chennai can u tell me how is NMK going, both cassette sales (iam sure its bad) and the movie....

You can listen to songs from IR's "Man of the match" from the link
"http://members.xoom.com/shatjam
This movie was released during 97 I think as I saw this in 97 hit malayalam songs CD.
Thanks to MS for uploading these songs.Worth listening several hundred times particularly there is a song "Ponnavani poo muthey" an excellant work IR which will make you jump between sky and the earth, guys please listen to this and give your comments.I liked it very much. There are other very good numbers like "virahammay" ,"kathirum kothi" and "nalla kaalam" which are very pleasing and you can compare them to "Yathramozhi" songs.

I happen to see the malayalam movie "GURU" , I should say it is a one of the life time experience seeing the movie, Excellant movie and I liked it very much. First 15 to 20 minutes of the movie will be usual scenes which u would have seen in many movies but the real movie starts after that. The best part of the movie is photography and music of IR. IR has done a real good work for the songs and the BGM which I can not imagine anyone else could do. IR has used kind of unusual instruments for the songs and BGM.You wouldn't appreciate the songs much if you just listen alone you have to see it along with the movie, then only u can appreciate our man IR ,what a great effor he has put in. The BGM thro' out the movie is just too good blends with movie very well and I should say the best of IR.Guys don't miss this movie. It is fortunate that this movie is not marketed properly or else it easily deserves an OSCAR for the kidn of theme and the technical portion of the movie

Just a wish for a new album. IR has not done any album of late like the Classical masterpieces Saagara sangamam and sindhubhairavi.
Wish he pairs up with KJY and SPB for a fully classical album...
