ARR Fan,
You seem to relish hate messages. Why else would you ask such a stupid question knowing very well what this thread is all about?
Well, I have given my opinion on ARR's latest releases- not in this thread, but where it belongs. Why don't you go check?

Helllo chennai vazh makkaaleee.... i see "Kaakai Chiraginilee" in the top in TFM page... can anybody tell me hows the cassette sales or is there atleast recognition among the public for those songs (like Kadhalukku Mariyadhai or Kadhal Kavithai).....

Here in Chennai, in the audio shops u will see plenty of ARR stuffs, Oruvan, Periyanna, Nenjinilae, and whole lot of new comers audio cassettes on Display. Lot of promos also will be there. Recently, huge posters are stuck all over the city for the audio cassette release of a movie called "Poopparikka Varugirom":-))
But you will hardly see the latest IR albums on the display. Even if it is there, you will not see even a handbill/notice.
My perosnal experience is, when I asked about Kaakkai Chiraginilae in a audio shop (immediately after its release), the shop owner told that he had not bought the cassettes as the supplier commented that the songs are not good!!
But later when I went to LandMark, I couldn't resist and I bought the cassette. Since that day, (more than 3 weeks), I have been listnening to this album atleast twice a day. One of the few albums in the recent times of IR wherein ALL the songs are extremely good and at the first listnening itself, I was totally impressed ( you can put any superlative word for "impressed").
But, slowly the album is picking up...without any hype and just with genuine comments from the listeners like me...and above all the quality of the songs, which will "Directly Touch your Soul" (as Parthiban explained DTS in House Full..:-)))
As someelse commented, yes, KC is equivalent to IR's 80's hits.
In the present scenario, unless the Movie becomes a hit, the songs will never reach the wider audience. Who knows, mags like kumudham, Hindu will say IR has recycled his old tunes..., "paadalgal edhuvum nenjil nirakkavillai", "Re-recording-il Ilaiyaraaja Music endru therigindrathu..." (sathiyamaa idhuvellam recent-a naan padichcha reviews-la vandhadhu)
That is why, I started to follow Raaja's footsteps! Don't read the reviews, don't ask other's opinions...just buy the cassettes, listen, pick-up the good-ones, then copy them into CD!! (In Madras it is possible for just around Rs.300/-. So you can have a CD with all 14/15 songs good)Just enjoy with the Maestro's great Music!!!
Hmmm...When I saw the thread "Dead-Horse", I only hummed the following lines...
"Andha vaan nilavil oru kalangam solvaar..
Kutramulla kannE kuraiyai theriyum..
Edhir kaatrinilae maNNai thootri chelavaar..
Thootrubavar maelae karaithan padiyum..."
These lines are penned down by RVU in a song in KC (sung the SPB with his magic voice!!)

nandri Ramesh nanba..... enna solla.... well somehow i feel u need a bit of luck on ur side... though IR's latest album's are all good - Nilave Mugam Kattu and Kaakai chiraginilee, its bad that the people response is not so good....
i wonder where Geetha and others who have been wondering "Where is the 80's IR and 90's IR"???? i dont see them in this thread at all....
anyway IR is giving very good stuff again.... so atleast let us enjoy.....
once again tks Ramesh.....

I always wondered national awards for the best MD were given only to songa with a carnatic/Indian nativity base or content. Well going by the Tamizh movie which won the national Award for the best MD in the year 1998 (I don't need to mention the name of the movie), I feel the follwoing movies should have deserved something more than that. The proof being that the songs in those movies are considered gem of gems by a large majority of intellectual and simple music listening mass.
* Alaigal Ooivathillai (19??)
* Kadhal Ooviyam (19??)
* Ninaivellam nithya (19??)
* Punnagai mannan (1986)
* Agni Nakshatram (1988)
* Varsham 16 (1989)
* Pudhu pudhu Arthangal (1989)
* Geethanjali (1989)
* Chinnathambi (1990)
* Thalapathi (1991)
* Thevar magan (1992)
* Guru (1998)
This is my sincere opinion. People might reject/oppose these views, if so, please tell me where and why I was wrong.

Dear Swami,
National Awards are meant for actors like Sunny Deol for his performance in "Damini",
Amitabh Bachhan in "Agnipath", while Sivaji Ganesan with at least a hundred movies worthy of National Award winning performances has not got a single award to date!!
Artistes like IR and SG are far far beyond these menaningless National Awards .

I agree with Madan;it is not wise to judge any artist's talent or contribution by some highly
orchestrated(!) function. But the point made by
Swami about any movie having a string of melodious songs, contributing oto the movies fame,
is worth continuing

Hi guys,
It is true that some of IR's albums do not get the publicity they deserve. I recently heard Kakkaichiraginile, and they were real good. Gayathri ketkum, kolakiliye are all super stuff. But these days people think it is not music without the hype and the digital stuff etc. Even mediocre songs from deva become great hits because of the films success. And IR's albums go without notice. What to do?. The luck of IR's is down i think. Let's wait for "Time" and the other movies. Only time can tell.

IRs albums are definitely lacking in the publicity department.
I think Kaathal Kavithai became such a huge hit due to the publicity it got. Where as, Manam vurumbuthe unnai, an equally good album went largely unnoticed.
I wish the situation improves soon.
