There has been many criticism on Hari's singing of Tamil songs, but I don't think he is singing that bad in terms of his 'Ucharippu' , Though there may be some words goes like that even for KJ it used happen like that, I feel Hari is singing excellant particullarly 'Ennai Thaalatta ..' and 'Vanna Nilave' and recent 'Vaanathu Thaaragaiyo'. I don't know why the criticism is ? May be just because he was introduced by ARR ?? BTW I am an ardent fan of IR .

It's unfortunate that many chose to bash the singing of IR when the topic for discussion is Tamizh pronunciation! Well, leaving out other aspects of singing (I'm no expert to comment on that), IR is one of the very few who CANNOT and DOES NOT make pronunciation mistakes, NO NO a big NOOOOO! His pronunciation is one of the very best in Tamizh! Can anyone cite specific examples as to any errors?
I'm quite surprised how so many literate (musical and otherwise) personnel can choose to drag him in a discussion that mainly features the pronunciation of HH and the likes?

Why IR is being dragged into this aspect concerning only HH pronounciation???
If you had gone through the replies on the Forum. You will find that while evaluating HH pronounciation his abilities as a Singer have also been discussed including SPB , KJY, TMS and IR.
Reg IR pronounciation there is no problem but as in the case of HH etc IR's singing adventures were also discussed. So far you may not find any attacks on the Singing capabilities of HH etc but in case of IR it is very glaring. So what is wrong in calling a Spade as a Spade???
You baffle me?????

Aparna!
As already confessed, I'm no good to talk about bhavam, sruthi etc. in singing. I just thought a few words on IR's pronunciation is quite in place as the topic suggests! Of course, anyone is free to comment on IR's singing abilities - but may be elsewhere, in appropriate threads (like TMS v/s SPB) IMHO!
(Notwithstanding my confession above, I love to hear IR's singing due to a) He normally brings out emotions very well b) His voice is mature, manly and not boyish c) His ability to sing folk songs with 100% nativity and mann vasanai - one should have lived in a place like Kosavapatti in Madurai district for a while to fully appreciate his `Solam vedakkayile')

Eden, the two songs from EVK are enough to showcase IR's supreme ability to bring emotions

Hariharan's pronunciation... Yuck... He is like mysore-baagh... It's a sweet...can't have too much and you can't eat when some novice makes it.

rajaG:
One rare instance of fumbling by SPB (can't say whether intentional) - in the famous song Sippi irukkuthu (film V N Sivappu), he sings `Thevai, paavai paarvai' as `Thevai, paavaL paarvai'!
