song list of aboorva shakthi 369
1)Slogam by SPB
2)century podum vayadhu-(tune is same as 'vaama vaa alli raani' from karpoora mullai)
3)raasa leelai kaalam kaadhal yogamaagum-SPB,SJ(nice song)
4)iLavaalibane varavenumene kiLi konji paadudhe-SPB,Jikki,SPShailaja. This song reminds paarijaatha poove from raasavin manasile. Atrocious lyrics full of doube entendre(NaNban from 'romantic sequence' thread will love this song :)))
5.Natarajanin thirunattiya vedham nadamaadida varumaa - Sunandha,Sjanaki,Mano.
6.Pudhiyaulagile chal chal chal - SPB,Chitra

Insipid would be a mild word to describe IR's work for 'Devan', mediocre would be more appropriate. I was speaking to Arun Pandian, he said that he was absolutely insistent that IR must score for his film since the movie was quite dependent on a good BGM score to elevate the action/thrill sequences.
I would only temper any criticism of this album by waiting for the preview to see if the BGM does really make a significant difference to the sum effect of the film. Otherwise, he has again let down another 'huge fan' (Arun Pandian) from the film fraternity with an uninterested effort.

suresh,
i was trying to imagine what and how you and Bharath (ARR fan) would be thinking:) u not commenting about the beginning of teen age-la itself speaks how much u have controlled urself:-) no doubt u have been soft. will look forward to ur comments after you get to know about its BGM.
if possible, let us know what Arun Pandian thinks about it.
going by an article, i too felt/feel bgm was/is more important to this movie. there are some interesting moments in the interludes of 2 songs, esp. the IR-chorus Ezhai geetham...but the rest kind of make up for them:)

Isaiosai, i'm playing dumb. Didn't get that one about me and Bharath..
'Teen age'? I have absolutely the greatest scorn for this mathangi-febi-ganga brigade, and whatever reasons that were there for IR to inflict such sheer torture on unsuspecting fans like us, I'm appalled. Much like the horrendous 'kuruvi kodanja' in Azhagi... Atleast that was one rotten apple in a basket of goodies, this one...
I think Paarthipan's IVAN too has one such nonsense; baffled why IR cannot make one complete album (in terms of quality) these days that has consistently good numbers throughout. I can only offhand recall 'MogaMull' and 'Bharathi' in the recent past that let you play the full album without reaching for the skip/forward button:(
Arun P said that the BGM was a classic, a case of the filmmaker's hyperbole? time will tell..

I am really greatly annoyed with the whole idea of Mathangi et all singing in tamil films . The reason i mention her name is..she is one of this "I hate tamil..and tamilians and their way of life etc " girls from Delhi. I am surprised even IR cudnt see thru this total "no talent all hype creature" and let her sing ..
The reason why this creature has condescended to sing for poor tamil junta still beats me :(

Mathangi is a pure tamilian born and brought up in chennai and very well trained in carnatic music.

suresh,
i personally feel that u and Bharath make hard-hitting statements with choicest of words when u vent out ur anger/frustration. not in a derogatory way. they bring a smile to me...can't help it:) i know u are being your usual self but even at other times i find your posts quite interesting. hence, that statement.
and thanks for Arun P's opinion on the bgm. let us see...

Suresh, teenagela song is not necessarily simple musically. It has lots of vocal harmony phrases. This is the reason Febi is there. She has made harmony singing a specialty working with ARR. IR sounds really strained singing Ezhai geetham. thAlAttum kARRe only the pallavi's sandham is old, the charanams have WCM like orchestration (similar to the niram piriththu song in Time). Unnikrishnan and surEndar singing with a modified voice, is a nice twist.
Just some silver lining in the dark clouds :)

IsaiOsai, ippo purindhadhu, thx..
Kiru, I still find teenagela obnoxious:( Febi and Ganga were just innocuous additions to the list, pity they don't have much of a choice apart from singing harmony (though ARR deserves credit for making them marquee names in that discipline)..
If SPB,Harish or Madhu had sung Ezhai Geetham it would've been a diff. song altogether. I find the electronic beats of 'thAlAttum' irritating, IR maybe should get YSR to do the rhythm programming for his 'modern' nos:)
bm, kp.. mathangi is very much a chennaiite, goes to ethiraj.. a talented and trained singer, unfortunately led to believe it's hip to sound non-thamizhish. just as tippu and devan are perfecting into an art, so u cant make them out from the udits and sukhvinders..

Hi All,
Listened to the samples of Devan and I found the album pure fun! Like his Desia Geetham and Rajasthan, the patriotic songs here are bloody good. Time and again, he has done this for Desia Geetham, Rajasthan, Houseful, etc. And this is the umpteenth time he is doing so excellently.
I'm sure you have seen the poster to this movie and you can easily tell it's gonna be an action-oriented movie/dialogue. You can't expect a Kasi or a Azhagi here rite?
Well, I for one like the versality of IR and his funky songs time to time. And when he's funky, he's really funkei coz he INVENTED that in his youth!
:)

SP u really need to psychiatrist. Why in the hell are u happy that a movie is going to be released from four years from now and nobody knows that ilayaraja is scoring the music.
and nobody knows when bala is starting the next movie or ilayaraja is the music director
u can do a lot of good to yourself and others by not posting such stupid comments andcarrying on with your nonsense somewhere else
it is obvious that there are not many new albums of the maestro. instead of posting silly postings like this nice lah and this lah(Crazy creeps-where do u make such idiotic slangs),a good idea will be to discuss about the great songs that maestro has scored since now.
The height of this nonsense when i saw a list of 20 films which maestro is supposed to score for. half of those films have been dropped off and the other half have not even been started.
please change the topic of this thread to something useful

Vinayan's new movie! The Malayalam original "Oommappennum.." is a horrendous, cliche-ridden mishmash that's designed to reduce the sane to desperation. Not to mention the frighteningly ugly looks and costumes of Kavya Madhavan (know I'm being mean, but something this unaesthetic should give us all the collective shivers). I wonder what grevious wrong the thamizh audiences have committed to Oscar Movies for them to inflict such cruelty by importing this story, crew and cast.
I know this might still go on to be a bumper hit in TN as well:(

I sincerely believe 'kaasi' can be added to this list ! I couldn't see any weak points in any of the song from this album - I used to think SPB Could have made a difference to all these songs, But still HariHaran did a wonderful job brininging some variety which fit nicely to the character 'kaasi' - for which he deserves a 'well done' !

Vanakkam NagaS! 'Kaasi'- yes, didnt need to FFwd, but I found it just a modestly good IR album (though commercially big) esp. considering the expectations I had from it...

Suresh,
:-)
>>> modestly good IR album (though commercially big)
That 'difference' explains all, isn't it ?
I too was disappointed with Devan, But hey, I didn't expect anything big from the album first of all , I am sure no MD can do a good job musically in a Vijaykanth / Rajnikanth action movies ... may be except for BGM Part !
Who knows, Devan may become a big hit and as usual we IR fans will be proud of it ... forgetting all these ;-)
