I am very anxious to get the early reviews for this film. Anyone who has already seen this movie, please be sure to post the review and mainly the BGM by the maestro.

What BGMs? "Parasuram" did everything in BGMs and our national juries already quoted that pinnacle of BGMs already reached.. Poor IR, just needs to be satisfied by common masses not elite Juries!!!

AS u guys are mentioning about the bgm of different holly wood composers, i would like to mention some of the works by recent composers, klaus badelt for the Pirates of carribean. Wow! its a wonderfull piece of work.
When u draw a parallel betwen the hollywood composers and our composers, i can really conclude that IR is the only one we have in the country who can match or even over take these guys in grand orchestration.

I would recommend you guys to hear the track (The black pearl). ITs so wonderfull and also you will instantly think of IR and his previous works in the BGM department. You can take my word..

Really the BGM during that Ganja smuggling scene, during the fights, during the Surya & Laila comedy, during Vikram's brutual activities and the climax scene are excellent. The BGM for this movie deserves Oscar. No one in India has given such wonderful kind of BGM. Do anyone disagree with me?
IR has proved his talent once again. Let's wait for Chandiyar. It's going to be another Devar Magan I suppose.

I didnt see n e thing to great abt the background music while watching the movie, didnt move me like sethu. Only thing that was realy moving was the adadaa song when vikram goes running thru the woods.
maybe it was way too hyped and i was expecting alot the way u guys were talking abt it just seemed avg to me.

Piratheepan,
When listening to BGM, there are at least two things to take note.
1) To be entertained in touching way. Meaning you look out for touching melodies, etc.
2) To be entertained in "kick-a*s" way. Meaning you look out for heavy or busy orchestra music with a punch and sometimes even with great melody, etc.
I mean there are many other ways to approach this and many more other things to look out for too. It all depends on personal preferences. People into pop/rock music will rarely appreciate BGM whereas light music or classical music listener may appreciate more.
One powerful BGM(a short cue) in Pithamagan I noticed was when Vikram grabs the bad guy's throat near the fridge. It was a short cue but nonetheless solid. It makes me want to stand up and give an ovation. Just bloody powerful!

Hi,
I felt the unexpected music wise. The songs except some portions of Adada went well with the movie. Its an unsually brave movie with unusual characters (even surya's) and said in an unusual way. Though IR could have been the one who could have justice to the movie with BGM (as of now ... he is the best in BGM in TFM), though he did not do justice to himself. According to me, this is not one of Illayaraja's best BGM ... though a good one. I felt IR's magic is missing. I felt there is alot of heavy orchestration for this movie which could be avoided. IR is at his best when he creates magic with simpler music.

Ilayaraja is 'THE' pithamagan! IR has done a great job in this movie. A very few might feel that IR didn't do his best but I feel that he has given whatever the movie demanded.
Who would know more about the movie than it's director himself?

Rama,
I'm a big fan of BGM so dont think i dont appreciate it. Just this movie didnt have a great affet on me. Just a few things here and there other then that very avg.
For instance when i look at background scores for serious movies 5 come into mind right away (kannathil muthamittal, anbe sivam, sethu and hey ram and azghai)
for fun loving movies (boys,minnale,12b, mounam pesiyuthe)
if u look at these movies ull find lil things that can be heard new each time and always parts that touch the heart. I didnt find much of that in PM.
I have good news for Kamal and IR fans in US and TO area. but im going to start a new thread called chadiyar in US n TO
