Hey TFM lovers, I hope you haven't forgotten the Magic that Gautam Vasudev Menon and Harris Jayaraj created with Minnale. The same team are giving us another film, Kaaka Kaaka. (Surya, Jothika)
With Gautam Vasudev Menon's Surya, Jothika and Jeevan starrer, Kaaka Kaaka, Harris Jayaraj also steps into A R Rahman's shoes by reusing his self made tunes that he had used earlier Hindi version of Minnale, Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein.
Remember the Hindi song picturised on Saif Ali Khan in Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, Dil ko tumse pyaar hua.... Now that song will have Tamil lyrics and is being picturised on Surya and Jothika in Kaaka Kaaka.
Harris Jayaraj once said that how a tune composed for a particular situation for that particular film can be used for another film, now he himself is using his tune composed in Hindi for a Tamil film which is entirely on a different subject (action). Why do Music Director reuse their previous tunes from other languages to Tamil and vice-versa?
Your healthy comments friends!!

so can u prove ur theory is correct, by saying ARR copied english songs?..
I can say...Bill Gates copied my version of "Jannal 95"..which was marketed in Thiruveli mavattam...but i need a prove i am right as well rite?...so go ahead...

To me all of HJ's songs sound the same. Or rather most of his songs.
Am I the only one??

hi all, just listened to HJ's Ullam Ketkumma (Pepsi)..i'm totally dissapointed with HJ..the songs are just average..i bought the cassette and heard only once...i gave the cassette away..
ARR & YSR are much much ahead from HJ..ARR's Boys
and YSR's Kurumbu are 100 times better than this crap album..
HJ's music is nothing worth mentioning in this album, except for the lyrics..especially Mazhai Mazhai song..
i would recommend you to hear it online or download the mp3...don't waste your money buying the cassette/CD..

I am although late to listen to the Music of KK, it was one wonderful album, though it sounded Minnale at some portions, but i had to dwell deep to find the similarities.
Now HJ is having a good run, some want to say he is filling ARR shoes, BS, may be he is, gaining No 1 spot...!!!
Good luck to him, surely i liked Minnale, 12B.

Greetings all,
I just chanced upon this site (&topic) by chance today, and decided to leave my comment. First, let me introduce myself. I have a Performer's certificate (= Grade 8 + 1) in Keyboard with special merit and distinction D from Trinity College of Music, London. (FYI, this is probably the highest certification offered by the college for keyboardists), but it is impossible for me (or for that matter, anyone with the same level of learning as mine) to _COMPARE_ ARR and HJ's "music".
However, I could compare them in one respect: ARR worked with Illayaraja and of course, learnt a lot from him. But, when he came out and started his career as an independent MD, he did NOT copy Illayaraja's style in the least. He created his own, revoulutionising the Tamil music industry. But, Harris Jeyaraj also worked for many years with ARR, but when he came out as an independent MD, he ... well, you all know what!
I am open for any questions or comments. Please send them to robbiestanford007@hotmail.com if possible or just post them here, in this forum.
Thank you one and all.

Greetings all,
Well, this is my second comment of the day :). Though I still maintain that music can't be compared, I have just noticed (after seeing Kakka Kakka and Boys in succession), that, Harris Jeyaraj's BGM in the film is not even near to ARR's. It's either HJ does not put in as much effort and hard work as ARR or HJ is not capable of conveying emotions with music. All I had noticed in his films is that, he keeps playing a solo instrument of a tune of the next song in the film for all scenes. But, ARR has from the very start of his career had concentrated on the BGM as much as the songs, and this, had in many instances paid off as one of the reasons for the film's success. For an example of the exquisiteness of ARR's BGM, I recommend watching the film "May Matham".
Also, somebody in this forum had said ARR had not produced a hit such as HJ's 'Vaseegara' in "2001". But, isn't that HJ's first film? Isn't it natural that he had chosen the best tunes from so many he would have created during all his years into music? But, in 2001, ARR had been doing music for more than 10 years and more than a 100 songs. So, there IS a difference. If you want, you compare HJ's Minnale with ARR's Roja. What a splendid BGM! I bet you remember the emotions that the BGM in the film (when Arvind Swamy rolls over the burning flag to extinguish it) conveyed. And, what hits! Now, you may argue that Illayaraja had been doing music for many decades and still giving hit songs. But, was ALL his songs a sensational hit? No. He does 10 films (experimenting) and by that time, he gets enough good tunes to do a Mani Rathnam movie. But, ARR only gives the best. So, there is no use comparing ARR and Illayaraja. But, it is still amazing to me how great music ARR had given to us in Boys. (Again, I stress that ARR's songs convey emotions where HJ's does not). You may again argue that ARR was able to give many hits because HJ was with him! Nice theory. But, it is definitely not the keyboardist HJ who composes the tunes. He only *plays* what the master had asked him to. It is ARR who does all those mixing and matching. So, there's absolutely no parallel to ARR!
I am open for any questions or comments. Please send them to robbiestanford007@hotmail.com if possible or just post them here, in this forum.
Thank you one and all.

AR Rahman is the best MD in the world.Cant compare anyone to him, although HJ is doing a pretty good job,no way one can compare the two.ARR belongs to a totally different calibre and a class of his own.

i agree with you robbie..i do now know y people
always want to compare the musics of different
MD..whoever it may be if the music is good,
however same or copied from anyother album...
if it can make u happy, enjoy it.. if u r not
happy with it..leave it..go back and hear the
orginal..
certainly ARR is a genius and has his own style
who has revolutionized the indian music.
cheers
