Raaja has a HUGE hit on his hands. The Sudha R songs are classy, the rest are all classy. Nowhere near his best, but good enough for a reasonably long stay on the charts.

All the three songs of sudha are heavily classical. Good to hear songs like these after a long time in this age of pseudo pop junk.

Ivan is great and sounds kind of trendy. Not classic IR but definitely fresh and youthful. But but, only one complaint. this parthipan saar is taking the glorification of IR a bit too far. what is this isai ya raaja?! overenthusiam in this forum fine (SPM saar how are ya?), but on the streets and billboards etc.. is certainly going overboard (litter ally) . i mean yenna saar idhu. we don't want any talibanisation of IR. this is becoming worse than religion. it is okay we can call IR God and all that super concepts, but isai ya raja, yenna ya adhu, what is this, i say ;--)

Ivan sounds really great all 3 songs by Sudha(in raga Simmendra Madhyamam, Mayamalagoulai, Sriranjani)are just out of the world....tunes of ULagamE and Appadi paakirathu vEnam(Mathangi cud have sung with more azhutham)sounds really complicated....other 3 songs might win the charts but not many hearts...overall itz a pretty good album

hihi ..you know what a sangeetha gnanasoonyam like me also thinks enai enna seithAi and enakku inai sound like same rAgam . Even the composition pattern seems same. Not sure why it was done like this. If I were the director I would have asked for a different one (more bang for the buck :)) What is this 'pAkkarthunna' ? why not 'pakkirathu ellam'. I never liked pazhani bArathi ..so I dont like these lyrics..its a silly one ..VM would have done a better job. I liked the orchestration of this song (IR fusion) but the lyrics are annoying me. The serious lyricists have done a good job. The other seemingly silly song by kabilan , "mEl topila" has some stuff in it. Maybe IR should give him more opportunities.
I liked 'kannan nee en isai nAtha Oviyam' but I dont think any of these songs are like 'ethilum ingu iruppAn' in recent times. I think songs become a classic with a classic tune and classic lyric ..In this album, the lyrics are good but not excellent.

Very nice album from Raja - let's welcome him back to the mainstream :)

Big pluses - no Bhava, Hariharan or Raja himself singing. Another thing, there are 9 songs and none of the them are "fast-forward-worthy"

Lyrics are decent - no gramathu stuff, so the "city-crowd" would probably enjoy it. And Kiru, I kind of liked pakkurathunna (lyrics by raja himself).

It has something in it for everyone ...so hopefully, it'll do well. But then, you never know :(

I personally would rate it the best commercial album from IR in a loong time, probably after Veera/Kadhalukku Mariyadhai.
