What's common in IR, ARR Songs

All times in EST +10:30 for IST.

Many threads deal with the differences in IR and ARR songs. Those include differences in composing-style, tune, orchesration, rythm, chords, melody, catchy beats, bgm etc etc. Is there anything common in their music (strictly with respect to cine music, not in their personalities, not even private albums)?

Most of us agree that its the TFM, nowadays, gives better music(in all form) than MDs from other Indian Films. This prompted me to think in this area. Afterall Rahmaan is a successor of Illayaraja. If we can think about some common things in IR and his predecessor MSVs then why cannot about IR and ARR.

  BTW, nobody seems to have got Prakash for saying, "their music is like chalk and cheese". I guess each side thinks their MD's music is the cheese :-)

  i didnt want to drag u at all in my last posting. i was about to tell something like "fans of tamil film music" that time i thought i cud add a slight smile in faces so i said "...fans (not srikkanth) go crazy". its bcos u happen to have the nickname "fan" and i wanted to distinguish it with the word fans (rasikaas) thats y i said so. honestly i didnt think anything else. sorry if it had dragged u in. nothing naughty intended.

" my intension was not to say PrabhuDeva(PD) was always a successful hero or something. also i didn't compare prabhudeva's work with IRs or any other MDs. just look like this: "any ARR + PD combo musical number was run away success then, sure to get no.1 position not only in TN but in all India level". so thats y i felt ARR wud have thought it wont be a problem if i make music for a PD starrer it wud not be a risk. hence i argued that one cannot count that as ARR took risks in doing films like Mr.Romeo that time thats all. nothing else was intended.
  i think NOW ARR wud think twice atleast if same kind of offer comes with PD to make a movie like Mr.Romeo bcos PD, as a hero, is a spent force now and even if he may dance very well he cannot be a reason for a film's hit. i think u agree my point regarding this.

  There was only one hit movie with ARR & PD and that was kaadhalan. Love Birds and Mr.Romeo followed but everyone knows what happened to them.

  i agree those were failures. my point is not about the entire movie, its the earlier musical numbers of these combo like from gentleman, kaadhalan and many know PD was the choreographer for MR movies like Roja (though its his father but still PD was prominent) etc. In that sense i said. and thats y people made movies like Love Birds and Mr. Romeo with PD as hero. all the three (Raasayya, Love Birds, Mr.Romeo) were failure and thats y after that ARR wasnt ready to suttify his hand. my point is to point out y ARR agreed to score music for Mr. Romeo is bcos it had that PD element and still ARR + PD combo was having the craze.

  Minsara Kanavu (Sapnay) was a HIT. Datz a ARR and PD combo.
  
  The moviez in which they both combine may be bad. But seemz, PD dances well for ARR songs. Just wat I think. Kadhalan, PD danced gr8 ... then now ... not dat gr8 @ all... Just normal..
