Hi Guys:
Listen to this Telugu Song composed by IR ( I am not sure if this was dubbed in Tamil ) - it's from Surya IPS. This came in 1990
http://64.81.35.203/songs/SuryaIPS_Hattiri.ram
Listen to the Kadhalan Song by ARR ( I am giving the link to telugu version of it - check the tamil one if you want )
http://64.81.35.203/songs/Premikudu_Andamaina.ram
Let the song start, wait and relax to enjoy the similarities.
If there are any such inspirations - let's discuss.
BTW, this thread is not intended to prove that everybody copies from IR. But just curious...

as for his adding isaignani, raagadevan etc
Did you ask this question when MSV added 'Mellisai manner'? I guess you did not. Because the names had been given to them and not that they added themselves.

ARR has no pretentions about what he is doing and has never mentioned that he is the KING of the music world and has never in our knowledge called himself raagadevan or isaignani or maestro etc.
Do I need to give you explanation for your own writing?

Dear RVC,
Nice to see ur response. Too amny within very little time. Great!! But why such depression by saying i'm done with this topic and all?? Come on! Cheer up, man!
coming back to the point, sometimes, i myself get surprised to see IR's frustrated talks. I dont know what's the reason behind it? He feels that the recognition given to him is not sufficient??!! It may be because of not working in a big banner for a quite long time, i suppose! Anyway, Great Musician he is! The another reason may be, the exposure and publicity given to other MDs like ARR are not due on him, despite of his great works. This frustration might have lead him to talk like that. All his fans know him. Atleast for them, he could have released the Symphony. That's a valid reason. But as a composer, he may differ with this and he may have some other valid reasons for not releasing it now. He may be expecting a most favourable day, like his mother's 100th Birthday or something like that, to make the release as a memorable day for him. As a composer, he deserves it, know?? I think this could be a possible and a valid reason. We have to wait till that. That's it!
Reg whether IR had any inspiration of MSV, yes, at times. That he himself agreed and that's the main reason he worked with him for some couple of movies!!! But the point is, he admits about his inspirations. But ARR, despite of making copies and clear proof of inspiration, is not admitting it. That's the irritation. One should have that courage to accept this. He's the genuine musician. As IR told in an interview, by having 7 swaras, no one makes a different music all times! It's always a possibility that to have an inspiration. That too with ARR, the case is still worse. Despite of taking so much of time to compose a song and his so called " all are god's gift" phrase, we can find similarities with his own songs. For eg, the saranam of the song, Thaandiyaa aattaam from kaadhalar dhinam is just a ditto of saranam of Sutthi sutthi vandheega from Padayappaa.... That's highly irritating to hear his words after we know this, know????? What i want to tell is accept about ur inspiration. That's good for anyone's improvement. Popularity is not the ultimate aim......
Anyway, there's a last point, i want to tell u, there's no doubt about ur unbiasness. U r certainly an Unbiased. Dont worry!!!

Guys,
I have already stated what I think on IR in this matter. Again, let me say..See the example of TMS. He too talks in the similar way. The reason is he did not get the recognition for what he has done. True. Ir also feels the same way. There is nothing wrong in it but, when you go on saying the same thing again and again (here too in usire press conf..or so) it becomes a sort of irritation to many. IR is also partly the reason for his own frustration. Take the case of symphony. He announced it with lot of publicity and programs. He even said that he completed it in 1 month and said some may even take 14 years to complete. He said that he wrote the music in 1 week and the rest of the time was taken to code it in computers. As a collage guy, I was thrilled and I wanted to prove the might of a South Indian in front of many iggnorant or I say arrogant north indian guys (Jains..gujrathis etc). I spoke large about IR to every body and did not leave any chance where I could state this point that he is the first Indian to so . Many like me would also have undergone such experience. After so many years still if that symphony is not released and what we hear is some lame explanations here and there then it amounts to further more frustration to music lovers like us. IR should make a statement to clarify this cloud around symphony. Till then the title maestro won't sound good with IR's name. I feel this because this perticular title was given to him just after he composed symphony. See.. there is no doubt that he deserves it but, since that perticular title was given for his symphony, I humbly feel that the title assumes no significance untill the symphony is released and proved that it is a symphony. And to rest of the titles, I would say that IR might not have major share in that. His fans will definitely call him RD, Isaignani etc even if IR doesn't want to project him like that. I don't think that there is anything wrong in that.

If I remember it correctly, Ilaiyaraaja said that he took two months to finish the symphony. First month, he finished one and did not like it. So he trashed it and came up with a better version. I believe he said something similar to your lines when he was talking about 'Hey Ram' background score.
