  IR used the tune from Sound of music "Rain drops" in a Telugu movie.
  
  The song goes as follows
  
  "Theeyane dharini Chilakela detha, Chinnarikorannu Chilakela detha,
  Chesthuna Kamura Kappuramu,
  ----------
  Premaku Mandhiramu.
  
  Though he has copied it is so original That is RAAJA.
  Please correct me if I am wrong.

  One song in yen purashan thaan yenakku mattumthan i think, ths song goes like this,
  poo mudhithu pottuvaitha vatta nilla, punnagaiil paatezhuthum vanna puraa. This tune is a repeation from one song from Dheepam.
  
  In singaara vealan, the song, innum yennai yenna seiya poagiraai anbe anbe. The initial beat is copied from one of the michal jacson album.
  
  In the film aathma, vaaraao unnake saaran...
  this is a repeation from his song, kaamatchi ... this song is from a devotional album.
  
  People dont crib these things are copied. Other wise how kuppam, subban in our villages will here michal jacksons songs. It is the MD pleasure to give the best music to masses, it doesn't matter, whether he copied some part of them from others.

  In the film 'sitara' this is a telugu film. Bhanupriya is the heroine. Her role was a classical dancer in this film. Kaviri mangai vanthaalama song from salangai oLi was reused in this film.

  This is just great. Such amazing truths are being revealed here. Only now I understand that when IR copies, it'"because it reflects his fondness/passion" for them or it's because, "Kuppan, Subban in our villages will hear Michael Jackson's tunes". Wow, but if Deva or Sirpi did the same thing, they are cheap and embarassing. Oh, and if ARR's tunes even resemble a vague chord progression that you guys heard somewhere then his entire musical knowledge is suspect. My musical awakening suddenly dawns on me, I have been cured of my ignorance, thanks folks, this has been so educational.
  
  PS: If there are baffled new people in these threads who don't understand this crucial revelation I have experienced, go check out the attacks on other MDs for doing the same thing IR does. Long live objectivity.

  I do accept your aggression when arr,deva etc,
  getting criticism for coping. But the truth, how many songs these people had scored so far. See how many IR composed so far, but if you listen to his songs, there will a uniqueness in each one of them. Others are in this field only for few years, they are suppose to maintain their individuality and keep giving fresh new songs. Then later they can experiment with michal jackson or who ever. These people are juggling with their tunes itself. To i was listening to pudhiya manargal cassette, one song tune comes like kappaleari poyachu of indian, one bit from another song, resembles raasathi yennusiru from thiruda thiruda.

  Give me a break man, don't pass ridiculous rumours.If you say something, give proper reason.
  
  This is not to support IR - but, the beat in the above mentioned song is not even all that unique, very simple that there would have never been a need to copy.

  Come on, there is a beat just at the beginning of the song. First it start with a small piece on violin, then a drums beat, then a piece on guitar and drums and parellelly spb starts the song, this one is copied from mj. I dont have to create rumours. This song is one of my favourite raja, balu song. Condiering the lyrics and the situation, this song never makes me feel bored even after hearing it contiously for sever times.

  Rathiriyil Poothirukkum in Thanga Magan.

  Long long ago there was a song called

  i think u had already once mentioned this thing about 'raathiriyil poothirukkum' and "manguyile' before and i had vehemently denied it.Iam still saying that there is absolutely ZERO resemblance between the 2 songs.u are repeating the same mistake.the scale , raga for the 2 songs are completely different.raathiriyil if iam right is based on hamsaanandhi.and maanguyile is not.
  are u talking about the interlude music? even there i do not see any resemblance.experts can clarify.

  Hello guys,
  In the film "Rickshaw mAmA", there was a duet sung by SPB and SJ, that had a very strong resemblance to an old Mohd. Rafi song. I don't remember the words, but the lines ended with Oram and nEram for the rhyme. Incidentally, another song composed by IR around the same time, "OhO hO kAlai kuyilgaLE" from Unnai vAzhthi pAdugiREn, had strong touches of "Khoya khoya chand", another Mohd. Rafi number from "Guide". The song "AmmavendrazhaikkAdha" from Mannan reminded one of "Janani, Janani". All the three movies were released for 1992 Pongal !

  The song from "Sitara" ("Kinnera Saani") was an extended version of a bit-song ("Kaavari Magani" in Tamil) from "Saagara Sangamam", which wasn't used in the movie.
  
  So it's not a lift by any stretch. Infact even lyrics were also the same in Telugu.
  
  Infact both the movies were produced by the same guy ("Poornodaya Creations").

  I don't think ammaavendrazhaikkaadha and
  janani janani are very similar except,
  perhaps right at the beginning line. If we look
  carefully, I am sure we can find lots and lots
  of song-pairs (old as well as new) which have this
  kind of similarity. When a composer creates a new
  tune and he loves it so much, it is possible that
  it has its effect on another tune that he creates
  around the same time period. The fact that both
  songs came in 1992 lends support to such a theory.
  I don't know whether others have noticed such a
  "first-line similarity" in the following two songs:
  kuyilakuppam kuyilakuppam (En Uyir Thozhan) and
  thooLiyilE aaLavandha (Chinna Thambi).
  Interestingly, again, both movies came within a
  few months of each other, sometime in 1990-91.

  Visva : "AmmavendrazhaikkAdha" from Mannan reminded one of "Janani, Janani" - These are both in the Raga Kalyani, as are many of IR's old tunes. They all take notes from the scale, but are no way copied from one another. Other Kalyani songs are :

  IMHO, whether it be from IR/ARR/KR recycling cannot be considered copying.
  
  Filmy music is first of all a business and the MDs are under real pressure perform all the time. So if a tune scored for a Tamil film is used later in HFM it is OK. The problem is that music aficionados like the visitors to this forum follow IR/ARR in multiple languages and hence we do not like to pay for the same tune twice. The majority of the public do not care for IR's music in Telugu or Malayalam unless it is dubbed. Same for ARR.
  
  Moreover, a MD may feel that a tune can be tweaked better and tries to give it a different flavour.
  
  Western pop/rock is full of versions and versions of famous songs. For ex. The Sound Of Music classic 'My favourite things' (which IR has copied at least twice) has been played by a large number of jazz and pop musicians. Ditto for a immortal jazz tune Dave Brubeck's Take Five. This tune has been recycled innumerable times by Dave himself.

  Yes, I remember you saying that there was no resemblance in another thread. Obviously you are not able to recall my rejoinder to you in that thread. Let me refresh your memory and restate what I had said then. If you take each word in say, "Manguyile Poonguyile" and make the last syllable a long one instead of a short one, you get the same tune as "Ratthiriyil Poothirukkum". Try it!

  I think the resemblance between Manguyile and Rathiriyil song was explained by IR irself in one
  of his live concerts. Thats how I came to know about it. It is not very easy to find those resemblances. Infact he told that both of them are
  based on the same song. The source is some folk song. He sang that song too and showed the resemblance. He was saying that same tune can be tweaked to give it in different flavors. Infact
  I am sure 90% of us would not have recoginsed the
  resembalnce between Pudu Mappilaikku in Apporva sagodharargal and Naan parthadhile until IR himself told about that. Infact both times I have seen IR complete his speech by saying this is how
