Folks,
Listened to Kaakai Chiraginile ( thanks to Prasad) . I don't know how to explain, but there is something very different in this album compared to other recent IR albums. Maybe b'cos used SPB for a couple of songs.??? ( Even Dharma had SPB ) or is there a change in orchestration method.??? I am clueless. So far i have listened to this 5-6 times.. Probably if i listen more i might be able to find out why. Any clues guys.? Did u all feel the same .?
Now the song, Oranjaaram has terrible lyrics.. (Martin luther king, confusion, tension etc are the words that i could decipher.. there are a bunch of other english words :-(( ). But for that the tune is amazing and the music really good.
Kolakiliye, Gayathri ketkum are really GREAT !
It'll be great if somone can analyze how this album differs from other recent IR numbers. I am sure this is different and most of the songs have late 80's IR touch

Let me give a few guesses:
-Is it the hollow synth sounds as opposed to real instruments that makes this impression on you? -Also, the IR-trademark of tabla+flute+violin interludes are missing.
-Though the singing is very clear and audible it doesn't jell with the music like the soundtracks by ARR,Vidhyasagar,YSR and KR. Could it be the sound mixing or engineering?

Folks,
Regarding the movie Kakkai chiraginile, it just shows the pure music of IR. In the song, Gaayatri ketkum, in the starting of first stanza you could have seen that all instruments go down and only the tune stays up. This gives a clear picture of the original tune and after that all other instruments come up. This way IR shows that he still is a pioneer.
Have u heard the song "nenavu therinja " sung by mano and chitra. Its one of the best.

Hi Anand:
IR is a genius - no doubt - but dont u agree that he has transformed from his typical IR style of songs (once upon a time, when he literally ruled the TFM world!) to a more melodious, softer and trendy tunes(using softer instruments more) of late?
I dont deny the fact that IR has probably been one of the very few MD's to have given evergreen musical hits!! - I like IR - does not mean I like every song he composes!!!

Well, I could see less n less of flute and Voilin ..but that has been the case the last few years.. what i meant is the flow of music..it seems to be subdued and slow paced .. May be I am wrong.. Even kolakilye song seems like there is something curtailing the singer.. is like SPB singing when
he is doing 10 other things..very casual ( lethargic .?) and very slow paced..though the effect is good, i just am wondering if IR is experimenting something new again.
Also the oranjaram song gives me a feeling that lyrics have hit an alltime low state of affairs.
Though IR's songs lacked strong lyrics the last few years, it has never been so bad..( another recent example is the Penn endraal no problem song in Rajastan)- It has words like keyboard, bill gates , email .. What non-sense is this.??
As for oranjaaram sounding like Jaathi malli song ( Azhagan ) , my friend said the same when he listened but i am still not very sure.. have to listen again.

Hi there everyone...
YOu know...I had tried to listen to the 'kaakai chiraginile' song of SPB and had not liked the starting so I didn't bother listening to that song or the album thinking that they were probably not as good as people were making them out to be. And then, today, I just tried to listen to the 'nenavo therinja' song just because Chithra was in the song. And I found that I really really like this song. Kudos to IR. It's nice and melodious. I hope his 'time' songs are great as with his future songs.

I recently heard the song 'Dheivam indru arulthanthe..' from MVU (MD IR). It's so strange the song's tune is same as 'Singam ondru purapatuthe...' from Arunachalam(MD Deva)
Is it,

Regarding Paadithirindha of kaakkai chiraginile, you could see that, the first stanza, starting line, its exactly similar to the song, amma amma of uzhaippali, the first stanza first line of both song. Try to lsten. Only the rythm changes. I think vasu. likes those tunes i feel so. I don't know any home page for bharani, but remeber only hear one song theena oodum ooda karaiyil, if you want to keep IR's reputation in your mind. Other song will symbolize his brother's maamanaar's style. So beware Meanwhile, for isai rasigai, if you mean ARUN PRASAD SANTHANAM, then u r right.

Is ther a way to host those songs ? I am ready. I would love to hear SPB's version of "ennai". I have always held that songs of HH in tamil, which are sung in telegu by SPB, just prove the author's point. two egs are "Diana diana" and "oru mani adiththaal".
